This is not fake. You can get Mew from a glitch in Red and Blue (not sure about Yellow) as well as through cheating. If we were talking about an actual copy of the game, the person could of gotten the Mew from a Nintendo event.

The Mew I have is from a Gameshark code, while the Mew I am battling is a product of the glitch I mentioned earlier.

Holy shit. I was just listening the the weird song at 5:18, and I forgot that I had another tab opened, loading Rose of Sharyn by Killswitch Engage. When I heard the bird sound, I leaned my head in closer and thought, "Wtf? the sound at 5:18 sounds like a sound when you enter a cave thats like 12 blocks big (for walking or whatever) and its so dark even when you use flash its soo dark, and all you see is this wierd pokemon standing there and once you start battleing "it" this song comes up, and the pokemon is so fuckin scary looking that it also doesnt have a name, and it is unbeatable. and then it takes over your came and blows up your gameboy or pc. As you are all alone with nobody except your pokemon. This theme would play if you saw Cthulhu in the middle of the ocean and he suddenly spots you from miles away as you start swimming away but aren't fast enough and then hes behind you.....or maybe I'm just crazy? actually, mangaman is correct, gamefreak never really worked for nintendo. o_o", actually, Gamefreak just worked for pokemon purposes. They create everything. They create all of the events. This was a programming glitch. Mew was put in there, but no body has found the event to unlock him yet. This is why you can get the diploma for only catching 150.
