  • If they are trying to get as much money as possible to fund vital research then they should let everyone one run. More people=more funding.

If there was a charity race for men only then women would be screaming sexism, but they then ban men from participating. That sounds unfair and hyprocritical

  • Why have I got a letter through my door from Cancer Research UK covered with slogans such as "Join the Fight for Women's Survival"?

Race for Life is not a one-off event for women participation, it is symptomatic of this charity's misleading information, miseducation, discrimination & offensiveness.

Raising more £ by tricking people into thinking it is a breast cancer charity does not make it morally acceptable.

  • True story. Im in agreement with redtube... Not so much men are aware that they can be victims too.

  • I can't stand how how Race for life, like many other events, yet again pretends it is mainly them who are affected by cancer. No wonder men die so much younger if most of the cancer charities only focus on female cancers

It is sexist nonsense - how about a blacks only race next year too?

  • I agree its discusting. I cannot do it with my son because I have a SON. If you have a daughter you can take part with your child. I do it because it means a lot but I wish blokes could do it so I don't have to look like such a loser on my own

  • i have just done the race for life in St Albans! At the moment I have raised £42!

    Last year I raised £100!

  • palsek12 is absolutely correct - if you look into the histroy of race for life you'll find it has fundamentally sexist foundations.

Events for men such as the completely unsupported Run for Moore , and saying you can run for a male relative have only been launched as a response to the allegations of sexism.

All we ever hear about is women and cancer - particularly breast cancer, whilst male cancers (which are virtually as common) get no attention and a swept under the carpet.

  • im chloe and im 18, i ran the race for life today in memory of my dad who passed away a year and a half ago to cancer, its not just for women its for everybody

paslek12 it isnt focusing on women only, otherwise i wouldnt have raised £600 + for my dad and for cancer research, its just an event where girls and women get together in order to help raise enough money to fight this disease

  • just done it for the first time ever! i enjoyed it and will run it again next year!

  • Well said emmarob! paslek has obviously never researched race for life or they would have realised that. My race is in July in Newcastle, cant wait, Ive trained soooo hard :)

  • Im sorry but i have to disagree wit ur comment paslek12 race for life is for cancer research which is for all types of cancer it is an event for women to take part in. i did darlington race for life on sunday and it was amazing i did it in memory of my mam she passed away from lung cancer its not all about female cancers its just an event for women to do there part...

  • Race for life is fundamentally sexist. It really isn't useful to have so many events focusing on women's cancers whilst almost completely ignoring male sufferers.

Cancer research is sending out the message that cancer just isn't something that men particularly suffer from, which of course couldn't be further from the truth.

Non wonder no one cares about prostate cancer and victims are so neglected by the NHS when all we hear about is Women and Cancer 24/7.

  • Well done to everyone who has completed the race. It is my (and my sisters) turn tomorrow and they have forcast rain, but I prefer that as it will cool me down.

  • i did the race for lyf yesterdaii at darley park.

  • i did the race for life yesterday!

  • i'm doing it ! for my auntie

  • im doing the race for life this year for my mum and daughter who both have cancer

  • What a really good advertising video for a real worthy cause. I ran with my daughter last year raising £450 and we are doing it again this year. Either do the race or sponsor someone who is!

  • What a fabulous way to raise the profile of a charity dedicated to finding a way to treat/cure this devastating disease. Big well done to everyone involved! If you can't take part in 'Race for Life' you can still give your support by sponsering sopmeone you is!
