If it were an issue about the arrow coming from the left, aiming to the left wouldn't make it hit. It would make it miss FURTHER. If we're shooting a diagonal from the left side, it starts to the left of the center and travels to the right of the center as it moves. So he's actually firing the arrows FURTHER outside the enemy models than it appears and STILL connecting. The Huntsman is a fucking joke.
just something i noticed, but the kill icon for the headshot has the arrow going thru the front of the head, but in tf2 now the arrow is going thru the back of the head in the icon. thats strange.
Who fucking cares? Otherwise, it would be impossible to get headshots, which is hard enough anyways. Try this in the heat of battle, when they're returning fire and strafing.
I always thought that random sniper coming around the corner seemed to headshot me a lot with the huntsman at close range... I wasn't just being paranoid
I'm tired of hearing people bitch about the hitboxes. You need to be in close range to for the hitbox to be large. And from this distance, the sniper is completely exposed. If you're at a medium distance, it's not much different than the sniper rifle.
Cry babies just cant handle being headshotted by a sniper... I spose all you haters are fine with being killed by a soldier who isn;t even aiming and yet you somehow get killed by a crit which landed 2 metres from your feet..... cause really theres no difference...
@HeadphoneHalo LOL!!!! Looks like somebody got owned by a sniper today..... Don't worry practice a bit more and you might actually develop some skill.... also, by calling me an "unintelligent little kid" you are obviously out to cause trouble and stir people up so you are no better than me... I don't feel like wasting any more time on you so if you really are the mature one you won't take the bait. Have a nice life.....
Speaking of "flawed logic" you make several assumptions about the length of time lukey963 has played as sniper and about his level of skill. Then you compare these assumptions to your own perceived level of skill. Talk about kindergarten logic.
People can play the sniper class however they want, there is no uniform act for how a sniper should behave.
And telling him not to answer your question? It's called discourse, and he can reply to your egotistical comments as he pleases.
You don't seem to understand the difference between flawed logic and making an assumption. Just because an assumption might be wrong doesn't mean that it's logically flawed.
When did I say that people can't play the sniper as they like?
When did I tell him not to answer myq uestion?
In what way does any of my comments have "an inflated idea of their own importance"?
When have I made "several" assumptions about the length of time that he has played?
Regarding there being no uniform act for how a sniper should behave, the word is pretty clearly defined: "a marksman who shoots at people from a concealed place".
Can it apply to the huntsman? Sure. That's not my point, though.
@katiedanielprue Thanks for defending me. However, in saying that I think it's best not to get involved with this loser. His comment "im right, and you're wrong" sums up what kind of person he is. You can see by these egotistical comments that he is trying to act superior to everyone, when in actual fact he is probably just a psycho living in his parents basement stroking his microscopic penis, while his dad licks his anus. He just uses big words to make people think he actually has a brain...
This did not affect this video as the arrow hits 100% on target at that range. Also Valve has set things up so you can't change handedness during the game.
He is just demostrating, stop telling him to play a real class because he makes this vid to show that the hitbox on the huntsman isnt exactly correct.
Well thanks for the information but my real point was that people shouldn´t tell him to "play a reeal class" when he just kindly tries to show us something.
It's called the Huntsman after the bowman superhero "The Huntsman" from Freakazoid. It's a reference to that and snipers past life as an Australian out back hunter which is covered in the TF2 wiki.
The arrow is meant to originate from the weapon model. The huntsman has since been flipped to the other side of the screen. I'm not entirely sure where the arrow originates from in the current version or the video. I think the best thing to do would be to do a follow up movie from a demo and then smooth/slomo it so we can actually follow the path of the arrow to the target and discount things like stray shots or deviation.
well while i agree with you, this isn't done totally correctly because, like the flare gun, the arrow originates far left and above the center of the body, and flies at an angle, i.e. you can aim to the left of the head, but because you are close, the arrow will actually still be to the right of the cursor, head shotting them. The hitbox is definitely broken mind you, but not as broken as the video makes it appear. A for effort tho.
Don't know who that's addressed to. The video doesn't show any stray shots. According to TF2 wiki it takes 5 seconds before the inaccuracy starts and you can see the flight of the arrows are straight. It's not a hard thing to reproduce yourself if you don't believe me. Just enable sv_cheats, add bots and fire away. Or find a friend.
I dodged in sniper fights by CROUCHING..now I can't do that, that fire thier arrow to my head, I crouch lower than that..and I get a arrow to the head.
The huntsman is for more aggressive snipers, not necessarily worse snipers.
I'm perfectly able to quick scope people all day from close or long-rage with the sniper rifle, but if I know we need to be aggressive or mostly close-quarters, it's just less of a cripple to use the huntsman.
Except that I'm firing to the left of the target. If it tends to go to the left and I'm firing to the left, surely the arrow should miss instead of hitting 1 foot clean of the model? Try it yourself.
Agreed. The Video is nice but as far as I can tell from it the shot just hits to the right of where you're aiming. Not really broken unless it also homes in from the other side.
The game has recently been patched and the Huntsman has been flipped to the right. I'll do another video tonight if I have the time and people really care.
The Huntsman is fine, this is needed because otherwise it'd be way too hard to get a hit. If you get dominated by a huntsman, especially at long range, learn to dodge slow projectiles.
yeah the huntsman's hitbox is definitely larger than the smg, but isn't that kinda necessary? without it, getting hits with the huntsman would be so much more difficult, almost impossible
I don't know. With the Ambassador the case was pretty clear cut. The Huntsman Is pretty much 100% accurate even at long range (until the arrow starts to fall off) but it isn't utterly dominating the scoreboard. Hard to say without trying a "fixed" version.
I've seen good Huntsman dominate the scoreboard. In arena. Granted, they're generally destroyed by real Snipers, but score wise I've seen Huntsman at the top all the time on arena servers.

that isnt really a good test. SMG shoots slightly left, huntsman shoots slightly right. so shots that miss with SMG can hit with huntman.

Wow, you really are stupid. Headshotted by "a sniper"? You think shooting randomly around corners and getting headshots is what a sniper does?

Which they are.
I never said anything about maturity, so stop bullshitting.

It's not a bait, it's a reply. It's called discourse.
I never said that you said that I was mature. Don't let your lack of skills in TF2 affect your reading comprehension.
The way someone types has nothing to do with "acting like an adult", and there's not an uniform act for adults.
I know that you're going to ignore me, because I'm right, and you're wrong. I'm good at this game, and you're not.
You're going to be the mature one and ignore me, yet you're replying? Hahaha.
