No I am not but I have seen it done enough times to know that what he is doing is just stupid, risking bites and stressful for the cat. Anyone dealing with feral cat restraint knows how to push a towel or blanket into the trap to push the cat agains the back and inject trhough the holes of the trap a sedative first.
@gnart0505 People miss the message, they are steralizing a feral cat. They are also sending a message to remeber to spay and nueter your pet. This poor vet probably has delt with hundreds of feral cats I am pretty certian he knows what he and his staff are doing.
Someone should teach him how to sedate a feral cat. All he would have had to do was stuff a blanket in the trap which forces the Kitty GENTLY against the trap and inject through the trap. This isnt rocket science. Why would he use such a ridiculous method to sedate a cat ?
@awagner615 r u a vet by any chance???? not saying this in mean way im serious, im thinking about taking up veterinary as a profession so yeah just wanted to know i'll have to deal with.
feral cats are invasive. i see no reason for keeping large populations of them alive. i don't see why resources are spent to spay over culling. just because people are uncomfortable with the idea.
mice, rats, cats, dogs and pigs are the most destructive invasive species in many parts of the world.
rodents can and are best controlled by other means and or native species. cats compete with, kill and eat many of those species in addition to what pest rodents they may kill.
wow I have never seen one of those cat poles.....I am a vet and deal with ferals too and now I want one of those.....God knows why I watch this stuff on my day off.....luckily the last feral I had that escaped was in another vets room so it trashed his room and not mine!

just put on some work gloves and presto you cat the kitty, then stick a steak knife through its black heart. That should sedate the beast enough to allow you to give it the injection.
I can imagine that I would be terrified when being lifted up in a cage. Even more so if I was my neighbors cat. Their little girl is NUTS! She's like most young girls and tat she thinks "I love all animals and all animals love me" and when her sat was going to the vet, she nearly killed it in it's cage because she was "making it feel better by giving it a ride" which was swinging the cage around as hard as possible. Her cat avoids her.
Too bad....you haven't lived until you have a warm, fuzzy little creature snuggle down next to you when you're feeling sad or upset and purr into your ear to let you know that everything's gonna be alright. Look, any animal can be a bit frightening when they're terrified, and that includes people. Cats are every bit as loving and affectionate as dogs..in fact sometimes even more so. Sorry you've never experienced the true charms of our feline friends..maybe someday you'll have the privilege.
SO TRUE!!! even though it was a dog, whe Nigel was getting old, he was always very calm, but still excited when I got home. Made me really happy, even though it was probably just for food. *sigh* I can't wait until we get another dog... :')
That cat was cute!

Cats are not meant to be pets. They are rude to their owners.

Why didn't you sedate her in the cage before removing her? This chase just added to her trauma. Are you new at being a vet?
