@MrGTDONE M1 0w40 is fine for the 1996-2003 TDIs, it meets VW502/505. Only with the Pump Duese TDI's in 2004 (505.01) and the newest CR TDIs (507) is different oil required.
I am not sure what the spec is for oil on a Sprinter. I hvae yet to work with one. Most of my adventures are with older engines. My best advice is to stick with the factory recommended weight. Bear in mind that climate can have an effect on what weight is the best in some/many cases.
Sounds like a lot of people here don't know what they are talking about. The 0w-40 is fine. It sounds like a perfectly normal diesel (I'm a diesel tech.) And if it is making a noise inaudible on the video, the oil is not the problem.
@vitaliyplatonov Make sure you change to 5w-40 oil as soon as you experience more average oil use OR when the engine becomes hot faster than usual... 0w-40 is a good oil viscosity however it is thinner than "normal" oil. The cylinder walls become worn and that is natural so when you have driven perhaps over 120.000 or 150.000 km. make sure you start using 5w-40 because it is thikker and it can more easily lubricate the cylinders. 0w-40 wont be able to do it as effeciant as the 5w-40.
Sounds like a normal TDI to me.

Thank you all for your valuable opinion!
To stop unrelated recommendations, this is 1999 VW Passat 1.9 TDI AHU (no PD) with VW 502/505 oil spec requirements.
This engine is running for 2 years with no problems.
Kind Regards
Vitaliy
