They are only in name communist and are more a nostalgic group of Ukrainians who want the old Stalinist empire back. Their voters are mostly elderly who capitalism has abandoned. The song that was originally "Bravely we go into battle, for holy Russia" The first song they sing is the "Internationale" and the second one is "bravely we go into battle" which was the Kadet and Junker song. After the civil war new lyrics were used by the Reds.
