  • I have to agree with cogitoroboto here. I have played guitar for over 40 years and this is hot! Think about it. He has played this stuff for decades, and is placing different vocals twists on an old song.

  • I have always cared very deeply and have soo much respet for him as a musician, writer and player. This is just heart breaking. It's time to hang up the the big white guitar, and leave with class. Time and life has finally taken it's toll on or Mr. Stills.

  • Anyone know what kind of strat that is? pickups sound very nice are they swapped or stock?. Amp he's using? thanks

  • I had a chat with his guitar tech in Birmingham UK 10/08

and for that tour SS used a 53 Strat "currently his favourite"...possibly the one in the Vid?

He also brought two SS 58 re-issue Gretsch falcons..I was so impressed by them I bought one in December...

made in Japan beautiful build quality and superb tonal ranges through any amp. Best guitar I've ever owned!

All comes down to taste in the end

  • oh dear!

  • I can remember when Stephen could still sing and play....This is sad...I remember seeing csn at tanglewood in massachusetts, early 90's. I think it was their acoustic comeback tour, what a great show, this is terrible though. I agree that Stephen should retire, rather than sully his great legacy with shows like this.

  • i met him recently and he is still(s) so beautiful and cute and loves his fans he wants to be near them he told me he is jazzed his words to be back on tour and to keep it fun He can charm any crowd dont please count him out he loves us and we love him

  • sorry but you are wrong this man has charisma, his one of the greatest players in the world. i saw him live with a title on organ from his last cd and he sings wonderful

  • I'm confused: dfh1970 implies that he can't play or sing anymore. I've only been playing guitar for a couple of decades, but I can tell you that he's spot on here -- he's using a subdued blues style that's perfect for the song; it's meant to sound that way. His voice here in this interpretation sounds amazing, really rich and full. What are you guys listening to?

  • I saw him at Woodstock fell in love with him and again at live aid concert he is as perfect as ever He is the total package brains handsome vocal opininated and THE finest acoustic player of all time he better than Clapton prettier and his singing is actually better too deeper and more sexy in my opinion those of us who have been with him all these years we know what we are getting and just how beautiful a person and talent this Gift from God is God Bless you Stephen we love you

  • Give the guy a break, dude! He's been singing a hell of a lot longer than you!

  • During this tour he was already suffering from prostate cancer, so please keep that in mind when you listen to him. During this tour he had nights when his voice was off(like here)followed by nights where everything clicked PERFECT, and his voice (and guitar)was every bit as good as his Woodstock performance. Bless him to loving music and performing so much that even CANCER couldn't stop him!

  • 40 years later and the guy is still gigging and holding the interest of an audience. Stephen was and still is my 'guitar hero'.Please view searchword wilburjr-thanks.

  • I don't want to be unkind, but maybe he should consider stopping singing, something just seems not right here.

  • Maybe you should: A)read Babyhowdy's comment above, and B)peep Stephen Stills' catalog before commenting. Question: How old are you? Cause for some ignorance is bliss. I actually like this song, and given what Mr. Stills was facing, he sounded pretty damn good in my opinion. I'm sure he was rockin' LONG before you were even a fetus.

  • I couldn't have read that, because it was posted four months after my post!

I am not trying to "diss" him, but when someone's voice gets older, they need to use it in a different way then when they were young. The amazing last album from johnny cash took a lot of time, and he took a lot of rest to create it. Then again, maybe in the case of Stephen stills he wants to do a lot because apparently the clock is ticking :(

  • Thank you for this post! The Hollywood Calif.7/13/07 I saw the House of Blues show, Joe Walsh was the special guest, Joe played 2 songs with Stephen & his band. Wow ! What a great show!

  • Thanks for posting this. Stephen's show was a welcome relief after a God-awful week. I'll never forget his kindness to me that night.

  • Hokiejane, tell us what happened! :)

  • He opened his 2007 tour in Reading, PA on April 19th, 3 days after the Virginia Tech shootings. I was sitting in the front row with a VT shirt on (I'm an alumna). Long story store, he paid me a lot of attention that night and took my mind off of it. By the end of the show, he had spoken with me briefly, expressed his condolences, kissed my hand and given me a guitar pick. It was a very welcome gesture of simple human kindness at a much-needed time.

  • i was there too. what a fabulous show!!!! where did you meet him cortybyron???

  • I had a great time! I showed up, realized I had FRONT ROW seats, took some great pics and these videos and got to meet him after the show...couldn't have been any better. (unless there were more Buffalo Springfield and Manassas songs!)

  • Too cool, thanx for posting this. I saw him the following night in Collingswood, NJ. Still has an incredible amount of energy at 62.

  • the lyrics are still relevant all theses years later
