  • whoa mi mati, steady as she goes!

  • Perhaps they could have given the camera to someone who wasn't having a seizure at the time...

  • just sickkk.

  • Hey Carl and crew! Im headed down to Costa Rica /Colombia in a month to travel/do some surfing. Where will you guys be? Can ya send me Zephyr's contact info down there. It would be cool to meet up with her down there.

  • Wonderful video. Not easy shooting from a boat on water. Great job too. By fisherman!

  • Mate, you gotta learn how to hold a camera still...rad hook-up but your filming is worse than dragging teeth on my skin.

  • If marlin are half as tough as king salmon then leaving a hook in their mouth won't affect them at all. I've caught kings with other fishermen's hooks in their mouth, and I've even caught kings that had a section of their mouth torn off from other fishermen. Coho salmon are routinely caught that have shark bite wounds only a few days old. Awesome catch.

  • This is awesome! Im working on making one that will be good for bone fishing and tidal fishing.

  • Chase, don't waste your time replying to idiots, bronze hooks really!!!

  • Chase, don't waste your time replying to idiots, bronze hooks really!!!

  • It's a myth that hooks rust out including bronze ones. The best thing to do is to mash the barb down really well so you could back it our of a stocking if you had to. That way the hook can fall out or rub out.

  • Pretty cool but definitely need a new camera guy.

  • This is freaking awesome

  • lol...maybe if he paddle out and caught it vs. taking a boat out there then jumping in the water and paddling right up to one feeding on chum, then not really catching it at all, just hooked it for a moment... are you sure that's not some little bay where tourist catch feed fish? kinda lame, but definitely not extreme.... paddle in with a marlin then maybe you'd have something to brag about cuz.

  • That looks awesome to catch a fish like that

  • @monki600 but how long does it take is the question. Only cut the leader if the hook cant be removed without damaging the fish. Bronze hooks break down faster than steel.

  • wow

  • Very cool !! I know the feeling a bit .... siting in a small canoe and being dragged around by a king salmon while the river takes you down stream....... lol It was awesome!!

    Cheers

Hey.... dont mind the idiots on the thread......... they are just...... idiots!!

  • Nice work, that must've been fun as heck to pull off. Neat vid!

  • Camera Noob!

  • cool

  • @boospruce Cause its way cooler from a SUP board! Who cares if you paddle with your hands, its harder that way anyhow! And in terms of fishing its definetly EXTREME!!! Yeah buddy!!!! Yahoo.

  • @creamtt Try sidestepping ftom the aft of an 80 foot boat to the the vow fully zoomed while its spinning and stay licked in on your subject. Then talk to me. Also 9-11 conspiracy theorists critisms don't count either.

  • Probably the worst piece of filming i have ever seen on UTube, errr what does i take to hold a camera still, apart from that very interesting video.

  • the camera man did a good job, i dont see any unsteady handling there, the point here is catching a certain moment on cam which we really dont see everyday. id be more happy if you brought the fish home for your family's dinner. but im also pro catch and release so, either way, cool vid..:)

  • This guy sucks. Have you ever thought about that fish life.

  • That was pretty cool!

  • thats my uncle

  • awful camera work.

  • lets do a real release next time! instead of cutting the line 10 ft from the fish.

  • If your video wasnt good these people wouldnt wast their time commenting on it or watching it. Looks like a good video and fun time to me. The haters should get a life.

  • Balls to the Wall guys!!!

  • I wounder what kind of sharks are in that area?

  • Ive been there at deep sea fishing, all kinds of sharks is there :)

  • it might be a small stripy but the paddle board is pritty flimsy i have tryed it mysefl its not easy he is just great at it so he makes it look easy

  • this is my uncle

  • pussy marlin

  • Ya I through it was gonna be a massive marlin lol. but still, thats pretty sick :O congratulations :)

  • that is a tiny marlin dude but good job

  • yeah but still it can still spear you

  • NICE JOB!! good job on the release too!

  • Forget these idiots mate, that is top notch! Have you seen Matt watson from NZ do it too? Released under 4 minutes too, thats awesome mate :)

  • i think its good

  • your shit at filming

    really shit

  • thnx. im sure yur a real academy award winning cinematographer...

  • @chaseoff i totally agree, you dont need any awards to hold a camera still. your really shit

  • dude chase.. shit filming

  • Since he didnt use film, its called shooting not filming dipshit.

  • That is just outright awesome.... I was wondering how the release was going to happen... Good call...safe(considering you're on a paddle board) and the fish lives on to grow and fight again...

Now the real question...how big is too big for a paddle board...LOL

  • you win.

  • good fish small but good come to new zealand in summer and get one over 100kg haha

  • Just damn awesome. Congratulations and well done.

  • That was soo awsum! That wud have been heaps of fun riding on a board being pulled by a marlin :) Nice Video. What a crazy catch. :)

  • If the Marlin is calm and the hook is easily accesible then obviously take it out. We generally get our fish to the boat in under 10 minutes and the fish are still "green" and really healthy/wild so its beeter just to cut em loose. We've found a much higher survial rate this way. Plus ALWAYS use circle hooks!

  • I am properly informed, I've caught marlin and other large saltwater fish. The fish is better off having the hook properly removed immediately.

  • If you should leave the hook in, why did Guy Harvey help develop the ARC De-Hooker ?

  • Cool stunt, but you're a loser for not properly releasing that marlin. I hope you were using a bronze hook that will corrode and break in the saltwater.

  • The hooks will disolve after a month or two or fall out of the fishes mouth. More harm is actually done by people trying to remove the hook. The Marlin usually whacks its head against the side of the boat which is 100% fatal. We have deployed thousands of tags in Striped Marlin in order to protect the species. Think next time before you comment on something your not properly informed on.

  • @mahidude your a fuckin wanker!!!!!

  • @mahidude everything disolves in salt water

  • way to leave all that leader in the fish...sweeeeeeeet! not.

  • Yeah!! Carl, Nice catch. Glad you're not to old to reel them in.
