Hey thanks for posting these vids! The clarity of the sound and the video resolution is incredible. Nice to see such a high-quality product from so long ago. Almost makes me feel like I'm right there.
Loved em then and love em still today. This was an excellent song. People experimented much more back then. Maybe the acid was part of it, I have wondered. Songs did not have to be 3 1/2 minutes, jam sessons in the middle, different instruments....
@TheLeastDiseased, it is amazing how beautifully they all perform here, considering how many sheets they are to the wind.
It's funny, I've never done illegal drugs myself but have always been comfortable around those doing them. They seem to be in touch with the world artists inhabit while they're creating.
@EyeLean5280 I don't know man, lol. He looks like the insane that typically you'd back away from not willingly watch and applaud. Besides that, here he's not creating- he's playing.Hey, what about my Chris Wood comment?? lol
Ah ah ah !!! Were they knackered out, or not ???? I spent my eighteen drinking beer, smoking joints, playing darts and listening to traffic music. IT WAS A DREAM:
Were these guys terrific or what? Does anyone play rock n' roll like this 40 years later? How these guys managed to get so far into the stratosphere is beyond me; some say it was LSD, but you also have to appreciate their sheer talent and creativity. Stevie Winwood, Chris Wood, Jim Capaldi--unbelievable. The album this song is on, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, is one of those underappreciated classic rock albums.
@LifeinSlowLane I agree with everything you've said here, especially the role of drugs. They can enhance or modify something that's already there, but cannot bestow talent where none exists. (There's a great line from the film "Liquid Sky," in which this loser character justifies his heroin use by whining he's just doing what Cocteau did. His girlfriend, unimpressed, says flatly, "Cocteau was Cocteau before he ever took heroin.")

Wow, Steve Winwood's hair is so exquisite, luxuriant and sensual - I just want to spend a whole day running my fingers through it.

I adore Chris Wood and I'm certain he'd have given Ian Anderson hefty competition had he been around longer.
It gives me the creeps to see anyone as wasted as Steve Winwood is here.Hard to watch.

@able506 I wouldn't say someone's opinion was dumb because they have a different perspective than you.

@TheLeastDiseased Not hard for me. Different time, different place, and a hell of a lot less controlled by the goons...

Excellent quality especially for a live video shot in 1972... Very well preserved too!
