Bobby Keyes is the greatest rock n roll guitarist in America. (the guy in the sunglasses and black shirt) and Ando Hixon is the craziest Boston rocker in history.
they were awesome in the 70's saw them many times. and I remember they warmed up Aerosmith at an outdoor concert, though I can't remember where that was.
this video brings back the good end of the 70's for me. I had forgotten all about them until tonite, the 70's were a haze anyway, the Surf, Beachcomer and other places around south shore
oh what memories... many years ago, at the surf nantasket, we party in the new year with duke and the drivers!! i had sooo much fun that night!! loved this band!!!!!!!! wonder what they are doing today?
To borrow part of another tune source's line, this band is one the coolest band in the world . I've seen them several times - at Joe's Place in Cambridge, The Beachcomber in Wallaston, the Cape Cod Coluseum & Williams College in the western part of the state. The reunion cd is amazing & the last I checked, the website was back up.
damnit, i was downtown working at gruntal at the time, why did i not hear of this epic show? young riffer is lily's son? takes right after his dad. all i can say is the duke is so proud of all of you, the sound's tighter than the early days. and the harmonies. love you guys. hope you do it again. how about in june, 2010? sometime when we're back for a visit. bring it on....
@reeblite Joe's son is,indeed, riffing on our first "new album" recorded at the HOB in Cambridge but the main riffer and finesse guy is Mr. Bobby Keyes - on Harder than Before"
I think I tunes and/or CD Baby carry them both on the net. Best to U, reeblite RM3
I remember being locked in someplace at a New Years Eve bash with Duke and the Drivers headlining.
I don't know what went on outside but the Boston PD apparently were in riot mode keeping people out and us in. The place was a mess when we were let out in the am. Had to be 75 or 76? I still have a couple of LP's. Not evevn close as good as live shows.
@Lizabee159 How do? This is Rhinestone... can't be totally sure but I don't think we ever lived in Framingham... maybe though The Duke is manscaping - a sure sign he wants the Drivers to cook it up this summer!
@owlman33 I can tell you are one of the real troopers, owlman! hope to run into you sometime. Right noe the Duke is a pole dancing instructor in Corsica. He makes noise about summer fun... the Drivers are shaping up just in case he pulls the trigger! You might enjoy Club Andre here on you tube... hang in! RM3
@sunphuk The Duke has been real busy... distilling gin in the English midlands. He's also manscaping which is a sure sign he's thinking about putting the Drivers out for some fun!
@reeblite You know I missed a "call to rock" from the Duke. When he called me on it I had no legit excuse so he put me to work in his platinum mine just north of Fairbanks! Sorry to hear about your bucket.... RM3 By the way, word is the Duke is manscaping - a sure sign he wants to put the Drivers out... RM3
boy did they need me, and an army like me ... i love the duke and really get off on them . rock 'n' fn roll rhythm 'n 'blues baby !!!

Used to hang, and jam a bit, with these guys in the 70"s when they were renting a house next to my best friend. Second greatest Boston bar band ever.

F I N A L L Y !!!!!!!
I have waited for over 30 years to be able to "HEAR" this song again !!!!!
Not to mention seeing it !!! WOW.....!!
Heard it on the radio early 70's and was wow'ed then....,Didn't hear it again till now.
I thought a black guy sung it...!
The first time was way back in the 70's and I went nuts trying to find it!!!! NEVER DID!
Last year I thought I did find it on ebay but
it was the wrong album.....still good though.
Worth the wait !! Thanks for the posting!!!
