Why are you guys arguing? The car is 30k more. Based on that logic it simply should be better. I know the ACR and GT-R outperforms cars that are 150k+ but that is beyond my point. When comparing the two it simply makes sense. You dish out another 30k and you get a faster car. (Just an assumption) but I'm sure 30k of modifications the GT-R can become close if not match the ACRs laptime.
I laugh at the ACR haters that are trying to discredit it dominating the GTR with all this "tires, and being track focused nonsense somehow negating its dominance. etc. I dont see this being done to the Scuderia, GT2, GT3 and cars like this that come from the factory setup just like the ACR. The Porsches can come with roll cages. ACR doesnt have that as an option. Its a streetcar with racetrack focus. Wheres the Mosler hate? Oh its only for the Viper I get it lol.
Mosler MT900S 02:45.9 Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe ACR 02:48.6 Ferrari 430 Scuderia 02:54.6 Nissan GT-R 02:55.6 Dodge Viper SRT10 02:57.4 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 02:58.2 Ford GT03:00.7 Chevrolet Corvette Z51 03:01.2 Porsche 911 GT303:01.8 Cadillac CTS-V 03:04.0 Lotus Exige S 03:04.5 Audi R803:04.6 BMW M303:05.6 So GTR is very fast, but the ACR is just faster.
Very good observation there, but one other interesting fact is that the ACR is a lightweight and R-Compound shod. track prepped model. Funny C&D fails to mention that the supposely SRT10 model which has the same amount of 600hp. with all amenities But still manage slower time than the GTR (street Radial, fully equipped model)
youre right but they dont have to mention that, it just goes without saying. People watching this and who read the magazine know what the ACR package is. And in other comparisons the reg viper lost to the gtr, but they dont need to throw in facts like that in completely separate tests do they? I mean its just redundant
The viper can be bought at the the dealership, so i guess you consider it stock.
The tires on the ACR have a treadwear of 80, and if you drove the car on the open roads you would spend about $2K on tires every month or so, maybe less.
You can't really say the viper was the winner when there was a 30k+ cost difference and a 120HP difference. If the viper and GTR almost weigh the same, don't you kinda think this is unfair?
I understand, however, like people are saying, the ACR viper is tuned....make it go against something like the Powerhouse Amuse or Mine's GT-R and itt'l kick its arse....
plus, for another 30+K, i'd say you can buy a kit like that
ummm the ACR is a factory viper. It cant be compared to those tuning companies. They would compete with Hennessy though (or at least try to ;) ) Oh and the GTR was built and tuned for the Nurburgring while the viper isnt and it still came over to germany and spanked the GTR by like 7 seconds on like their second lap! Give credit where its due buddy!
Wow! the viper absolutely raped the GTR! And it looked good while doing it too ;). The GTR is a weenie car for people who can't drive. Ask a pro race car driver which one they would rather have (definitely viper). Pure hot sex on wheels!
they might not live up to the r34 but comparing it to the viper, zr1, and the gt2 it has a lot less power but can still keep up them. So i say its a pretty good car
I think the issues i have with it come from more of nissans claims and approach with the car, and it really doesnt look to great either. there are too many speculations and rumors with the car
the ARC Vrper is a Race Car you can drive on the street. the GT-R is a street car you can drive on the track. the GT-R should have been the real winner.
I agree. The GT-R in my opinion is a far superior car. The Viper may have a huge engine that go's. But the execution of design and handling, is just CRUDE!
The Viper just beat the GT-R (and everything but the Mosler) around a track by 7 seconds and you say it can't handle? Also, that time gap is enormous, if you're looking for a track car, the ACR is much better. I don't think you can pick one over the other unless you are either really track oriented (Viper) or really street oritented (GT-R).
Yeah I totally agree. They tuned the Viper's suspension for pure track use. If you had to drive it around day after day it would be horrible. It would be extremely bumpy and uncomfortable, that is how they get it to perform well on the track. But the Nissan is a great car both on and off the track.
@seroyer2 How does that make any sense in your feeble mind? A racecar that you can drive on the street, in your opinion, should lose to a street car that you can drive on the track, on a race track. That makes sense, how?
why would anyone buy the mosler? its ugly and only for the track

"Note that the racing GT-R's use rwd with a V8 up front . . . I think that says something, no?"
Is that true? Hmm I didn't know that. Why are there so many jdm humpers that love to talk shit about the V8 then?

I see what you mean but the lightening lap is about the lap times
like on top gear's lap times
nissanGTR12456 3 years ago
ummm your forgeting that the GTR has all wheel drive which naturally makes it weigh a lot more.

Ok, i'll give respectable credit....xD
i guess what i was trying to say was that if you spent the 30Ks worth of difference on tuning, the GT-R would probably win....
but i have to say the Viper's nurburgring time was astonishing...especially for a RWD....

I don't think the Mosler should've been included in Lightning Lap 2008. Maybe a Gallardo LP560-4?

It'll lose anyways

some have 507+ bhp

wait for the V-Spec its a 330 pound weight reduction, it might gain some of the seconds back
