Yes it costs taxpayer dollars to keep them locked up and prosecute, but tax is a constant source. You know, this crosses national lines too. I live in australia and I was in my early teens when NWA and other groups like them became really popular. Suddenly all the cool kids were people called Homies. They were white kids copying the gangster mentality they had learnt through the music they were listening to. The only way to become 'cool' in those times was to be a violent criminal, and these were working class and middle class white Australian kids between the ages of 12 and 18.
