  • Just love that sound <3

  • @ 1:00 is that the biggest beer-belly ever?

  • WTF guys?!! On ANY reciprocating engine, the propeller IS the flywheel that carries the momentum from the throw of the crankshaft during the first few revolutions during start and essentially uses raw centifugal forces to prevent the engine from kicking back. If the propeller isnt attached to the engine, the engine will either kick back or sling itself apart. Im very surprised that engine didnt just blow up or chunk a rod

  • What kind of world war II American bomber ?

  • Nothing as beautiful

  • I have one just like that on my Ipala 2007

  • DAMN that's a lot of power!!! That's Detriot Iron!! That's why we won WWII.

  • @Deckerd724 that, along with the merlin and the shvetsov adaptations of the cyclone.

  • Ok now someone pull start it!

  • Pure Geldverschwendung, so´n Spritfressendes Monster überhaupt anzuwerfen !!!

  • @DJENERGY63

Wenn die Welt nach dir ginge wuerde der Mensch noch in Afrika leben.

  • @DJENERGY63 hab dich ned so^^

  • Man, that thing sounds like the flywheel is missing some teeth!

  • Love the guy smoking next to the gas cans!

  • @structure7 I think those are fire extinguishers...

  • It's ike an old box of rusty nails. Keep it just in case.

  • I have seen this engine on a tractor at a tractor pull. It was nuts. It torqued the frame so much that I think it actually broke into. Nice.

  • I've been carrying this question for ages now; How does the fuel system work? is the fuel being send in the engine before the supercharger? or in the inlet manifold after the supercharger? Thanks in advance

  • star!

  • i want someone to build a car and use this as the engine.

  • I have one of these in my Toyota Yaris..

  • this man who stands near the 2 fire stop bottles should put them far away from the engine so that if something bad happened he could use them. But as that close to the engine if an explusion happens he and the fire stop bottles will be inside fire.

  • i like the man with blond hair in the second plane!

  • зачем они дощечки под выпуск положили, наверное что бы видеть как от туда болты с гайками вылетают.

  • @7770700 Наверно чтобы грязь с земли не поднимать.

  • HAHA WHAT A POS

  • Sounds so awkward before it fires up, then bliss.

  • Would love to hear that thing full power under a load.

  • Impressive! CID? HP? RPM? air or liquid cooled? Is this at an engine show? Why are there entertainment news vids mixed in with stuff for thinking people? Too many questions? Sorry

  • @woodheat411

    Yeah, liquid cooled radial. Not.

    Too many dumb questions. Sorry

Try reading the description for some answers.

  • sad to see huge engine sitting and rotating

  • This is the same engine that powered the Wildcat, FM2. A great little USN fighter, many kills were scored in this plane.

  • Funny how the guy with the fire extinguishers is smoking..

  • this thing sounds horny i think i just got a semi

  • мощь!!!!

  • sounds like shes got a gnarly cam in her...

  • the south is getting smarter=o

  • the south is getting smarter=o

  • I upon[ed] this clip because I'm a pure gearhead, yet above all of that ICE stuff, this motor or its predecessors propelled the fighter aircraft that, in the Battle of Britain, denied Herr Hitler a victory of almost incalculable value -- as peterm3964 says in a much subtler manner. Bellicosity aside, were these Royce engines less formidable, the lives of 99% of we Western worlders might be significantly worse than they are today. Take from this video all you like from the aural aspects . . .

  • people used to take to the skies powered by engines like that...crazy

  • My radial starts after a long cranking too.

  • Haha I remember that I read a redneck comment on that falling bolt here sum time ago !!! :D

  • Biggest swamp buggie motor ever

  • more like 2 gallons to the mile....

  • podracing?

  • @technochook

Do you reckon we could fit it in a civic ??? ;)

  • That'd make a nice fan boat.

  • 2 MPG!

  • it seems there are 18 radial cyl not 9

  • I'll take that in my 69 Chevelle please :)

  • Now, on to tokyo!

  • If the name has Boeing in it you can assume it is going to be some kind of aircraft. The way the exhaust is pointed I would guess that the person with the helicopter idea may be right, otherwise the fumes would be blowing directly back at the pilot.

  • everone in the back ground are plugging their ears, then some Einstein is seen with a kid in a stroler stopping by to check out what all the noise is about, kid will need hearing aids by the age of 2

  • So Brutal....

  • this engine is out of a M3 light tank. or an M4 medium tank.

  • @ChesterMc3 Its out of a boeing vertol 44a twin rotor helicopter. Sherman variants and M3's had continental w670 radial engines. Read the title for once please :(

  • What is a Boeing Vertol 44A? I googled it but could not find anything (I thought) that was related to this.

  • @hypothesies1 I google it too. I think it's a helicopter or an aeroplane. Well... you get the point ;)

  • suprized the stater didnt say "fuck it i quit!!!"

  • @drkmanracer302 no shit

  • о я нашел движок на мою "копеечку"

  • the fat guy at the back holding the jerry cans has a cig in his gob wtf?

  • @BlackGoldEstates its to fire extinguisher hes got... anyvay you cant put diesel on fire vith a cig,

  • 1:45 something else is flying around lol

  • 00:29 " I'll just bend down and pick this up while I stick my head into the cooling fan"

  • now can you fit to a go kart then you be in busniess

  • It Sounds Awesome. I Love the smothrevvingness of it. It deserves to be powering something of significance. And I don't mean a Pulling Tractor.

  • @pnotuner1 derr it revs smoth. Lets put it on a 747!

  • That starter sounds like SHIT!!!!

  • The "prop" looks to be a stator section (non-rotating part) of a jet engine... pretty brilliant idea to use it as a test prop; it still generates cooling airflow, but won't chop bystanders into cat food, unless they're fed directly into it.

  • @Syncroincity It's not a "prop" that they've put on there. The description says this engine came from a Boeing Vertol 44A which is a helicopter. The "prop" is the cooling fan that was used on the Vertol as the engine was buried in the fuselage. But it is pretty smart that they left it on for demonstration purposes that you mention..

  • @dgcantrell1 Good info, thanks!

  • what fell off at 20 secs .?

  • @gold555555 My fucking broadband speed. It took me 12 minutes to watch this 3min clip..... :(

  • @gold555555 an engine part. didn't need it, i guess. now, on to Tokyo to get some JAPS!!!!!!!!

  • @gold555555 a wrench

  • @gold555555 I don't know but the old guy picked it up and threw it under the engine lol.

  • @gold555555 it looked like a weight that they used to balance the prop, not 100% sure but it looked like it was not a big piece

  • @gold555555 Probably just a piston or cylinder.. nothing important.

  • @gold555555 My Grandfather's toupe! He used to work on that very same motor and came home with out it one day. ( :O

  • @gold555555 It was a mini flashlight some one left on the Fan housing.

  • 1.425 hp? Do you mean 1,425 hp?

  • @olsonr Most likely!

  • Sounds like what powers CDF firebombers?, I am not knowing.

  • what strange custom those people have of gathering in a field and sticking their fingers in their ears.

  • Holy-Terrorist:>*=* Im powered with this, lol!

  • So he started it, had people go "wow"......then went home

  • Y U NO Power a car or a truck with that monster? That would be awesome :)

  • @smartwizardst1 it wasn't made for that....

  • @mikelagaffe Yes I know it was built for a double rotor helicopter but you already hear and see stuff about cars with engines from different vehicles like a tank and so on. I guess in a truck it would be possible to fit this inside and let it get enough air for cooling - And think about how huge of a parade it could make. Or at least a piece of industrial art.

  • @smartwizardst1 it would be fantastic,of course... but not very useful...i didn't see the ''artistic way to be'' in what you said ^^ sry

  • stick your finger in there...

  • i cant believe that they started it after that bolt flu out! its just like oh hey its a bolt ooooo shiny i think ill add it to my collection! XD like damn

  • @MrRainDT

It fell off the front of the engine, not from within. It was either just something left there, or possibly a loose bolt from the fan itself.

  • note the people in the back ground nudging back slowly .. with a little help of a gust of wind or 2

  • Wow

he he, It's for a bike?

  • what is the point in this? or am i just being ignorant? i love all kinds of engines but i still cant see the point of just starting it up, revving it a bit then turning it off. put it in something! actually USE it. just seems such a waste thats all.

  • @highoctane500 Here let me try to guess. I bet it went something like this. "Hey you going to destroy that aircraft?".... "Yeah it is not air worthy".... "engine work?"... "Yeah but needs little work"...."Shit I want the engine I don't care about the aircraft. I will find some use for it eventually"

  • Sounds like 4 1/2 synchronized harleys

  • Me recuerda a Citroen 2CV

  • lol @.28 seconds, old pops nearly ends up grated cheese picking up that widget.

  • i saw you mess with the throttle governor

  • the 28 cyl turbo and supercharged radial was only 3000 hp, are you sure this 9 cyl is putting out 1425 hp, this reminds me of my school days

  • Honda civic swap

  • Cold start? It's sunny outside.. probably is around 5C.. try it at -40C and then you could call it a cold start..

  • Interesting... but they did a much better job in 1915... what exactly is your point?

  • I don't think that ...man? ... in the the black coveralls should be smoking. It's bad for your lungs.

  • GOD!! Did a Part come off that ???

  • Smoking firefighter, nobody with ear plugs and a guy with a baby stroller..

but...... who cares about that !

    this sound is truly music.

  • they get their exhaust done where the Supra from Hell goes :D

  • the man with the extinguisher is smoking but who cares :-)

  • @barru20000 Gotta love the irony.

  • @barru20000 As soon as that motor started, everybody was smoking!

  • @barru20000 its Chris Farley! lol

  • @barru20000 it looksalike a woman

  • @barru20000

1930's safety procedure to go with the 1930's engine.

  • @barru20000 its not like the engine produces any smoke. or heat. You can't be more holy than the pope, you know

  • Love the fire marshall having a smoke :)

  • Now, how to fit it on my motorcycle.

  • as the engine oil lubricates top cylinders?

  • How's it a fail? It started. Those engines are like that.

  • guys you know its a car engine dont you

  • over a minute to get it started, Fail,

  • @stephmc111 Fail?

  • @hpjunky70 yup

  • @stephmc111 youve obviously never tried starting an engine that hasnt been started in many years

  • @joecooper18 yup, your right, i rebuild them first

  • @stephmc111 aircraft engines? really?
