  • Love the books but this film is dogshit, end of.

Really hope someone can make a decent version of Modesty Blaise at some point, my hopes aren't high though.

  • «Princess!... Kick the bucket!»

Surely, this should be up there among the top ten humourous lines in film history.

Also this scene wins points for the wardrobe department. Immodest femme fatale is ablaze in a virgin white flimsy and revealing peignoir, throwing away her manly weapon to fight with bare hands. Muscled dominatrix and killer macho woman throws away her lady design hat to take the challenge in full man suit and shoes. One of the best «mixed» fights in movie catfight history.

  • I agree. Modesty's outfit was good for Stealing, Killing or just Looking.

  • Blaise doesn't look THAT modest!

  • Dirk Bogarde is the only one who is any good in this picture, someone should upload his scenes. At least he camped it up properly

  • Mrs. Fothergill was far more dangerous (and exciting) in the book. According to Terence Stamp's memoirs Monica Vitta was totally lacking in physical co-ordination and couldn't handle stunts or fight scenes which explains why this looks so feeble. God knows why she was cast in an action movie.

  • @enochsneed I'd love to see a remake in which Mrs. Fothergill was every bit as muscular, skilled and orgasmic over barehanded killing as in the book. And for Modesty, they should cast a hot martial arts woman.

  • @delxyz I couldn't agree more about Mrs Fothergill. Why is she in that stupid man's suit? And I know that in these sort of films the baddies always end up dead, but for me it would have been much funnier (and sexier) if Modesty had put the rope around her arms to pin them to her body and then gagged her. In the later seen she would then have been hoisted up and down struggling and mmmfffing. Much better than seeing her dead body, which I found rather ghoulish.

  • Omigod! Modesty's got a flowerpot!

  • Loved the bit were the 2 women square up to each other & Modesty is forced to relinquish the gun. You can see the look of resignation & defeat in Modesty's face as she realises she is no match for the superior fighting machine Mrs Fothergill. At that point Modesty must have been wetting her pants.

  • This Mrs Fothergill is ok on attitude - you do get that feeling that she gets her most powerful orgasms as she kills her victims. But the character in the book was insanely strong and incredibly skilled, with an insatiable appetite for beating her victims in a fight to the death. I wish the movie had captured this.

  • It's obvious from the storyline in the book & in the film that Mrs Fothergill is the better woman & when they eventually do meet Modesty is in for a beating.

  • I don't think the director had ever read Modesty Blaise
