  • Gwen/Angel have proven for four seasons now that she is Gwen Queen of Hearts Lady of Camlot and Athurs's Wife why cnt some fans get that? Seriously if you're looking for play by play old Gwen and Athur watch King Athur then because us merlin fans love our characters the way they are!

  • I want my name to be Guinevere

  • @boobs1204 the way he says it...... :)

  • i love how she just puts him in his place.

..even if she take it back and apologises half a second later. :D

  • What episode is this? Someone tell me please......fast!!!! Thanks!!!!

  • what episode was that?

  • @Bella24Forever I got it....its episode 10 from Season 1.

  • omw he's hot :P

  • guinevere!

  • British English rocksssssssssssssssssss!

  • I LOVE the fact that Gwen is played by someone like Angel! It would have been way too cliché if they had some dreamy eyed blond chick with a pretty face but no character play her, Arthur is already too doll-like (for my taste at least) and with a Gwen more "fitting" to him, that could have been the dullest pairing ever (pretty blond falls for pretty blond, well.. no thank you very much, unless a bucket is provided...)

  • @bogi18 thts soo true nd they both look rllly cute together!

  • Sometimes I hate knowing how everything's going to end for all of them- the danger of prequels- but sometimes, it's fantastic, knowing that you know something that they don't that would blow their minds.

So, basically, I watched this grinning like a madman and also wanting to smack Arthur on the forehead and shout, "That's your future wife, moron. Go smooch or something already."

Me? Shippy? Not in the least.

  • 'I mean, we alll dooo.' I LOVE IT

  • oh SMOOTH gwen,

    real smooth :D

  • the beginning....gwen saw for the first time an insecure and helpless arthur

and arthur saw for the first time a strong and caring gwen....

best beginning for a love story <3

  • Awwwwwww he wants her. He always looks at her as if his in love or mesmerized by her. It's super cute!!!

  • I don't like her!But he is soooooo HOT!!!

  • i just love how he says "Guinevere!" lol its great

  • He says Guinevere so freaking hot! She is so lucky. Why can't Bradley come and say my name? I'm over here if you happen to drop by lol

  • OMG I love how he says Guinevere... I wish my name was Guinevere right now... BEST COUPLE EVER!!

  • what episode is this from?

  • "because i have faith in you...i mean we all do" I love that.

  • I mean WE ALL do! nice backtrack gwen LOL

  • "Guinevere!" Loves how he says that

  • cutest couple ever seriously in this series they need to end up together with no cheating/lancelot. the triangle is fine, but in the end it needs to be shown that it is arthur and gwen in this story :)

  • BEST COUPLE

  • jesus christ Bradley james is fn hoot

  • Ha ha, Cammie85, you cracked me up. I agree with you entirely. My friends and I and you, know exactly why some people are taking offense to why they cast Angel as Guinvere and historical or looks have nothing to do with it. It is a shame that people still have those hang ups really.

Anyway, I too love the way Arthur says her name. I could listen to his sexy voice all day. He can be sooooo cute when he wants to, can't he.

  • I also agree with Cammie85 and I have actually been very clear about it on another vid and boy did I get a nasty reaction 'they' don't like it when they are forced to see what they really are. I hope in S3 the triangle gets even more epic.

  • Totally love this version of Arthur and Guinevere. It is funny how some people think it is real and not a made up story, hee hee. It was genius of the casting crew to let Angel play Guin. A totally modern take on the story and how they have made Merlin a young man too. Don't hear much complaints about that though...strange. Love it love it!!!

  • maybe is because some people are so stick on how woman suppose two look. Personally it's seriously a ridiculous thing. it anoys me like hell that people think that Guinevere is suppose two look like "The typical disney princess". Seriously ANOYING. and it is just a show. not a stricked take on the myth. sorry if i sound a bit two oversensetive. haha

  • I honestly imagined her to look like Morgana, until I watched this. Angel is a perfect Guinevere

  • there first moment they share togethor!! omg i love them sooo much XD

  • aww this is the first arthur/gwen moment <3

  • lol I like the way he says gwenevere

  • Me too. It just rolls off his tongue like butter!

  • lol I love how people are talking like this time actually existed - Its all fantasy people!!!

if we want to talk about 'Historical accuracy' than I for one have major issues with the Dragons flying round europe 1000 years ago (that and all the magic sorcery that seems to have once been so rampant) but no, mixed race people in a.......drama based entirely on myth argh!! can't watch this its not historically accurate....hehe you guys crack me up!

  • yeah but whe all are crazy is it not!!

  • THANK YOU!!!!!

  • @cammie85 Actually in relation to historical accuracy there were many mixed race and also Black people in Europe during that time which people seem to blatantly ignore or forget or just don't know. The Roman army was charging into Europe---particularly England/Wales and if King Arthur were real he would be a Brito-Roman general. The Roman army has been known for having the most multiracial army---actually an army made up of just Blacks from Africa--some slaves some free men. ~sigh~

  • @vaberella Thank you. Those who have an agenda, quite often forget these details...PURPOSELY. Then again, those not so well versed in actual history, do tend to have a strong preference for ignorance. Well said.

  • @cammie85 LOL!!! You're right! Dragons are fine, but a black Gwen? Nope, that's too far. Wow, people get hung up on the weirdest things. . .

  • the he says her name is just

    spectacular

    :D

also in like the cast videos they do when hes like "yeah ANGEL"

    oh bradley :D

  • love it when he says Guinevere!

  • Ok ppl enough with the boring history facts plzzzzz I came on YouTube to get away from school not more school.

  • Ehh, you tell him Gwen! Lol, I lurve how she tells him off in 2x02 :P

  • go on son... it really doesnt matter... Angel plays a brilliant gwen n her n arthur have excellent chemistry witheachother on screen. love 2nd series. A huge tamper with history but verrrrrrrrry entertaining! loved S2 Ep2... wow

  • i love the way he says her name :D

  • me too... this is so great...

  • i know! so sexy ;)

  • Dear Elenas71,

I don't mean to pick a fight with you. I'm sure you are very knowledgeable but perhaps you should show some humility and let this go already! It is a show derived purely for entertainment purposes...there is no need to bring your oxford textbooks into the matter. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but what do you stand to gain from this quarrel? Just stop, take a deep breath and enjoy the show!

PS: I love Gwen and I think Angel Coulby is beautiful!!!

  • LOVE ARTHUR/GWEN

she's so pretty. in season 2 more so.

  • HE CALLS HER GUINEVERE!!! Sorry... I love him... :P

  • Actually I love the way the writers are writing these two. Guin should be innocence to how Aruther feels about her, if he does. She should be just as she stated not believing that she would have a future with either of them. As Queen she would accept her position as service not like Morgana who seems to be more on the "I deserve" side. We see the difference when Morgana tried to have Uther killed and Guin stated murder is wrong, even if the murderer killed your father.

  • I love how he says her name. The first time I saw this ep my mouth literally dropped. It was...ugh. A name isn't supposed to sound that sexy. But he manages to make it so. :D

  • It's not a fuke. Everytime he says it, it gives me goose bumps. Think I'm going to have my name changed. LOL.

  • the whole point of this version of story is that its different to all others before it .if your so bothered bout it being historically accurate then you should know that merlin was never the same age as arthur and uther was never married to arthurs mum euther, lastly i think angel coulby is a stunning girl, and the fact that she is a darkskinned handmaid adds angst to the love story between her and arthur.everyones entitled to there own opinion i suppose so thats mine,

  • As for beautiful, again I have to disagree. Angel is beautiful and she is the only women on this show that does NOT wear any makeup, not even lip gloss. That's amazing.

However I do understand your point.

  • Sorry, but there were many noble European men that married African women & their daughters married major European Kings. It happened all the time. Therefore just about all European Royalty have African ancestors

See Pope Clement VII of Rome. All of this "dark-skinned" daugthers married European Kings. What you're seeing is actually more like history than the stories that depict these queens as "fair-skinned". However, you're not going to be taught this. Lookup the de Medici's of Italy also.

  • Sorry I'm really not picking on you, seriously. I have read, studied and written a lot and while you're right about how the several stories were written do remember it was basically fiction.

As for moral, you're right Guin had an affair w/Lancelot ran off w/him & if I remember correctly she had Gadalad w/ him. But the producers of this show are writing her as moral humble sweet which makes her more like the queen Arthur deserves. She might be the catalyst that makes him the man he becomes.

  • The story is fiction and the historial facts of Guinevere begin from Britian wouldn't change that she could have had African blood and look VERY similar to someone like Angel. See many European royalty sent their daughters to other royal families (which of course includes Britain) to marry as in the original tale. And many of these daughters were of African ancestory. THAT'S HISTORICAL FACT. There are 1st cousins Dukes/Lords now to the Queen of England that have African ancestors.

  • International trade...social development...

WTF are you talking about? Wow... Anyway, I believe I've made my point.

  • Okay, but if it's only a show why bring up race at all is my point. But even if race is involved this is it's historially correct.

However, my point being by changing her to more "tan" then "fair" whatever that means they are still in line with actual history. It's not something made up to be PC. They have changed a lot that's not in the original story. Europe was NOT homogeneous during the time of this tale or many years before it as will.

  • I've only skimmed through the historical debate, but I think that two major things are lacking from this conversation

    A) This show is rife with anachronisms, from the fashion to the castle architecture, from the crossbows to the sandwiches. The writers aren't just playing with the legend, they're playing with history itself for the sake of *entertainment*. If we can watch a show about dragons & magic & griffins, I think we can suspend our disbelief a bit further.

    ... (cont)

  • B) It's called COLOR-BLIND CASTING. As an audience, we're not supposed to look at the actors for whatever race they are, but for their characters & their acting abilities. And especially after the most recent episode (2x02) I think that Angel is the *best* choice out there for how brilliantly she plays Gwen.

  • well said - and the notion that black people are "slaves" is quite a modern thing and it didn't exist in the time of the arthurian legend as many people from all over the world moved to britian, so britian was very multi-cultured then too!

  • i have a tri syllabic name ;) not Guinevere though :(

  • Its funny how he doesnt get that he likes her yet

  • I love how he says Guinevere

  • @xlifeintoartx I agree. It always tops her in her recants lol.

  • I LOVE the way he says her full name!

  • The way he said her full name.... makes me wish I had a tri-syllabic name....

  • lol

  • Haha... I do and sometimes if I delude myself enough I can almost here it... lmao.

  • trust me, trisyllabic names aren't half as fun without bradley james uttering them to your retreating back. :P

  • Too funny. I so agree.

  • @kheldara So true. What i wouldnt give to have a tri-syllabic name and Bradley James there to say it, *sigh*

  • a mi tambien me fasina es inrrelevanta es el unico que lo

    dice............

  • @kheldara although if I'm honest, my back certainly wouldn't be retreating were Bradley James to be around...try-syllabic name or not! :P

  • @kheldara I concur :P

  • OOOOOh he's so sexy when said the complete name of Gwen *-*

Thank you 4 the video and sorry for the bad english ;)

  • damn we're only on the 4th episode in the US.... i really can't wait until this airs!!!!! and i love the way he said Guinevere!!!!

  • why are we in aus ahead of you >_>

  • nbc just started showing merlin..but ive seen all of the eps online...cant wait till the 2nd season! does anyone know when its gonna start?

  • ep 5 aired on July 5th... if that's more accurate for you. but i don't know why its taking the US so long..... i mean, the episodes are already in english! they should have an episode a night instead of once a week :(

  • oh em gee! he made me heart go gdbfehdfdjfmkjdfj when he said Guinevere like that..arghh hes so HOT!!!!!

  • I totally wish that my name was Guinevere just so I could hear it said like THAT. Hehe ;P

I love their chemistry...I know heaps of people that say they don't have it, but I think it's mainly because they haven't had a lot of scenes together yet.

And this proves that their so damn CUTE :)

I honestly never liked Guinevere in the legends, but Angel makes her so likeable, I can't help but fall in love with her in this. And who doesn't love Arthur? ;)

  • Me too! Gosh, how sexy and cute this name sounds in his mouth? I'm just melting right now. And I'm seriously considering uploading only this one word on my iPod, haha :P And about them together - epic!

  • you are sooo right! They had what 5 talking scenes throughout the first series? haha but we still saw the chemistry what's more if they give us tons of Arwen next season? I think we'll go crazy. haha

  • I agree! I love this series but honestly, the directors shouldn't even have added that kis in if they weren't going to follow through.

  • Sorry, not wanting to be an airhead, but, what kiss?

  • In episode 4 gwen kisses merlin, and its like 'omg, gwen just kissed merlin' and hes like 'omg!' and then nothing happens.

  • Lol, I actually did know what you were talking about after all! (Airhead moment!) I think Gwen has a primarily platonic based crush on Merlin. I think the reason she kissed him at that time was because she was relieved he was going to be ok.

The big love triangle is between Gwen/Arthur (who I don't think has ''noticed'' her yet.)/ Lancelot. (Who depending on which version of the legend you follow is the real deal.)

  • Lol, it's the funniest thing they ever forgot about. The next ep Lancelot's all like, "So, are you two..." and Merlin's all, "no, we kiss sometimes and I think it's awesome and we both get a pink and blushy and flirty, but nah. Just friends."

    :D

  • lol!!!

  • @kheldara What episode is that please? hahaha :p

  • sooo frustrating!

  • Zomg Bradley has 'GuineVERE' down to a tee. Seriously.

  • SEXUAL TENSION!

  • OF THE SEXY TENSE SORT!

  • yeah baby! hahaha

  • OMG!!! I love this scene!! Guineveerree!! Holy shivers! How sexy is that?! hahahaha

  • But... if Arthur and Gwen fall in love and get married, then Lancelot will return and Guinevere will fall in love with him, thus sparking adultery for which she must be put to death. Which Lancelot will not abide and betray his king, resulting in the deaths of more than half of arthur's knights and the end of Camelot...

Then again, Guinevere's been a betrayer and adulteress all the way back to the original Celtic legends. So, forgive my bias towards the character in general.

  • Actually I'm pretty sure that won't happen in this series.

I think it is more that Lancelot may hold a torch for Guinevere, but while she has a fancy for Lancelot (or did in the one episode he was in) She is going to fall in love with Arthur and vice versa . . . because otherwise I don't see why Arthur would marry a servant girl . . . unless she is a secret noble :p

But honestly I think Lance is going to be the odd man out in this story.

I guess we'll see as the show goes on though.

  • Probably not, since they seem devoted to a happy ending. But using "Canon shipping" as a justification for why these two should be together...

Well, I just had to poke fun. Cause it's like voting for Arthur's death, y'know. Besides, I dislike Lancelot as a character anyway, mainly because he's an original Gary Stu, self--insert character that only showed up in the Arthur mythos in the story "the Knight of the Cart". Read it and you'll see what I mean.

  • I didn't ship them until 'Le Morte' beacuse there wasn't really anything to ship, so "I" certainly wasn't rooting for Arthur/Gwen for 'canon shipping' :P As for Lancelot, 'Knight of the Cart' is a terrible story anyway. I did however like the Lancelot in Once and Future King, and the Lancelot in 'Merlin' as well. I think the Lancelot in "First Knight" is probably the worst though. Richard Gere?! Seriously?!

Anyway, I do admit that I'm a fangirl over Arthur saying 'GuineVERE' ;)

  • Well, lol, I was never assuming you, in particular, shipped them because of that.

I thought Lancelot was overdone in "L'Morte D'Arthur" too. And most Arthur movies are terrible anyway. "Excalibur"? I dislike him more because since his incarnation in the mythos, (especially in the early french stories) the other knights have become placeholders and aren't even really necessary because Lancelot is soamazingOMG! He's been humanized in later stories... a little, but he's still very bland.

  • When I said I didn't ship Arthur/Gwen until 'LeMorte d'Arthur' I was talking about the series one finale of 'Merlin' not the story of the same name.

There should be a link in related videos to their scenes from there.

I can't think of a Arthurian MOVIE I really liked. Some of the stories are good though.

But we are monopolizing these comments with our discussion! lol :p

As for this scene, I like it, since it's the 1'st time Arthur really 'sees' Guinevere as more than a maid

  • Disney?

But I think (sorry, jumping in a bit late) it's hard to do the Camelot stories properly in film - people like Lancelot just become unbelievably over-the-top gits, Arthur seems too noble - and either you reinterpret Guinivere till it's she's an unrecognisable Keira Knightley, or she becomes an unsympathetic and annoying queen. I love the original tales and characters, but unless they have a really new approach, a la Merlin, it's hard to retain the medieval romance for the 21st century!

  • lovely scene and of course he's sexy as always.love him and gwen together and i love him w/merlin as well.(:

  • woooaah! hes voicle is amazing!! i dont remeber that scene! :( and i watched them all please can some one tell me which one its in? thanks

  • its in episode 10 :)

  • I can just imagine him saying her name like that after they've had a row and he's trying to coax her back into bed, lol. Totally a married couple already.

  • haha agreed. That's the first thing that popped into my head in that Le Morte d'Arthur scene where he's in the bed and he's trying to get her to repeat what she said :P I can just picture him trying to coax her into 'something else' the same way ;)

  • i totally agree with this couple....so good to see them together.....i love them but i love merlin + arthur too

  • Obviously, Arthur's the fandom bicycle here xD I kinda like this pairing but I also like Arthur and Merlin xD *brick'd*

  • i love the way he say GuineVere... melts me!!!! freaking hot!!

  • I melt whenever he goes "GuienVere!"

  • There really is something to the way he says her whole name isn't there?

Of course he has a lovely voice, but when he says her name it is even lovlier. There is this possesive tone to it, like he is entitled to say her full name where others are not.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that grins and giggles the few times he said "GuineVERE!"

  • perfectly said. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but you've said it all. It is kinda possessive the way he says her full name. I love it

  • This show is seriously awsome!!! Im in love with it!!!! I love ather!!!!!

  • GuineVERE. *melts*

    I looooove this scene.

  • he clenches his jaw alot eh?

Love love love love love <3

  • In almost every adaptation of the myth I never liked Guinevere but I *love* her in this! They're so perfect because it's handled so slow, just little teases. And like others have said the way he says her name is just GUH.

  • I just love the way he says Guinevere hehe

  • idddk why but i prefer Arthur and Morgana :P Gwen is so lovely she should have Merlin ahahah but oh idk Arthur is like "the man inside" as gwen would say...ohh i cant choose Gwen with Merlin or Arthur? I want arthur though well Bradley hahahaha :P Probably finally decide in series 2!!!

  • FOURSOME.

    ...sorry, what? :P

  • hahaha simple solution yeah, foursome :P

i was saying that i dont know whether Arthur should be with Morgana or Gwen excluding any legends...neither maybe?:P Bias though considering i fancy a bit of Arthur :P

  • I think everyone fancies a bit of Arthur, honestly :D

Arthur/Morgana happened in the legends as well, so it's totally kl that they have both ships... (as well as with Merlin. I think Arthur's just a h0r, really.) :D

  • I've watched this scene so many times and now it's handily available on youtube! THANKS <3

  • Oh My God! I was literally jumping on the couch after this scene. The look on Bradley's face melted my heart. Oh I'm sure it melted gwen's heart too. lol. MORE SCENES WITH AUTHOR & GWEN AND 10 MORE SEASONS OF MERLIN PLEAAAAASE!!!

  • well how could they not, just look @ them lol only i hope they don't follow all the ledgens and keep it a bit unqiue, that's half the joy of this show and i don't want gwen and lanclot to happen, beacuse quite frankly i hate that lenged. i think it's stupid! it's like soomeone just shoved it in there for a bit of flipping drama but that's my personal opioun. :)

  • 5!!! i think i just died from joy lol, i really hope that's true. i'm sooo getting the dvd are you kidding, i wanna watch it over and over :). yer you can tell they have good chenistry it shows on the show.

  • i KNOW they really do!!!!! hopefully we will get more in the future, mabye season 2 will have more. They better be doing a season 2 and 3 and 4 lol i will scream if they don't lol

  • are there more of these arthur/gwen scenes?

  • Not yet, unfortunately, but hopefully in the future!

  • Yes. Thank you :) Saves me from going insane with a webcam :P

  • love love LOVE this scence. Gwen and Arthur all the way baby, their toally class. i adore the way he says 'gwen...Guinevere' i was squlleing like a totaly fan girl lol. plus the look in thier eyes when she says 'i have faith in you' oooo i died, i'm rambaling i know but i just LOVE this two, there pefect for each other. btw this show is fricking AWSEOME!!!

  • This scene is quality :D
