Nice ball python. Just be careful with live feeds when you are using rats. When I originally did live feeds with mice on mine they could go horribly wrong if the snake strikes wrong and the mouse can be free to do big damage to the snake possibly kill it depending upon where a bite lands. A female Ball Python may reach 6feet in length, 5feet for a male is good but they dont usually go much past 4.They do make a good pet snake due to a good temprament & managable size. Burmese python will grow up to over 20feet long but you need to know how to handle a big snake & many dont then get rid of them when they get too big which they will in just a few years.
@Bloodshot043 I once made the mistake of having a live gecko on my hand. When I turned my hand over to drop it in, the snake jumped 7-8 inches and got me and would not let go. xD

Its very stressful to both animals, your snake may be harmed by the food it eats for a start!. Defrosted animals should be fed/used when possible, in the UK it is entirely illegal to feed live food in a captivity setting.

haha, the snake snapped at the rat when the rat sniffed his nose. I swear, the snake was gonna let the rat live for about 3 more seconds. :)

A female Ball Python may reach 6feet in length, 5feet for a male is good but they dont usually go much past 4.They do make a good pet snake due to a good temprament & managable size. Burmese python will grow up to over 20feet long but you need to know how to handle a big snake & many dont then get rid of them when they get too big which they will in just a few years.

@Bloodshot043 I once made the mistake of having a live gecko on my hand. When I turned my hand over to drop it in, the snake jumped 7-8 inches and got me and would not let go. xD

@Catsie15 Some snakes are scavengers but most are live feeders you are correct. Can all snakes be fed frozen food, NO. Can most snakes kept in captivity be fed frozen/thawed mice YES. Is it easy to get a snake to switch from live to dead food yes. So you should do it WHEN possible.

@Catsie15 My point being is its not a natural situation. I have no quarrels with what wild animals must do to survive in the wild, my quarrel is with Americans who use mice as live food. Its very stressful to both animals, your snake may be harmed by the food it eats for a start!. Defrosted animals should be fed/used when possible, in the UK it is entirely illegal to feed live food in a captivity setting.

It's been about a month since my ball python last ate. I've tried feeding a dead rat and two live mice. He doesn't act interested. He's 4 foot too. Is it because it is winter?

He aint got a chance......... just another act of dumb american bravado-ism, no better than those chinese gooks who skin animals alive. Actually they're better.....they dont film it for kicks to brag to their mates about it. I dont mind live feeding, just keep it civil if your gunna do it.<
