f1ravorman, I wouldn't have changed any of Martins analysis after the final race. Michael drove a car that was off of the Williams and Jacques kept messing up his own season. Sometimes, just because you're a champion it doesn't make you king.
@weallfollowmanutd i agree that the williams was a faster car and jacques could have scored so many more points. I changed my mind and now I think jacques only deserved a A-. But i still think Michael didnt deserve A+ because of his unsortsmanlike behaviour. After all, Jacques was only in his second year and he did win the title although he made errors along the way. Champion doesn't make you the best but technically it does make you king. :)
Mika might be looking for alternative drives? He won the championship with McLaren in 1998 and 1999.
Michael Schumacher, top of the class? Not when the flag fell in Jerez he wasn't. Panis will win another race? Sadly not. Monaco 1996 his only victory.
But, we can't knock Martin. No one can predict the future =)
Brundle's Opinions on Hakkinen are the most ridiculous, "May be seeking alternitive Improvement." Then why did Mclaren give him preferential treatment to Couthard, and why did he win 2 Driver's WC's?
Well his first was due to the technical supremacy of McLaren in 1998. 1999 was because Schumacher was out with a broken leg. Not saying he's crap, but his 2 WDC's weren't anything special, and I feel he underachieved a little bit.
Mclaren favoured Hakkinen over Coulthard nearly all the time. DC had to move over at the final race in Jerez so Mika could get his first win, and at 'Oz '98 he had to move over yet again, when in the lead! I think it was something to do with the fact that the team was endeared to him after Mika's horrible 'Oz '95 Crash.
Well at oz 98 DC and mika had an agreement that whoever got to the first corner first would win the race. DC was a gentleman and stayed true to his word.
jerez 97 was a manufactured finish - can't argue with that. I don't think one race proves there was preferential treatment though. Take a look at what happened in spa 99 or the early races in 00.
Silly me, typed it too fast. Does anyone know what the music is that plays in this feature? Didn't the BBC do something like this with Johnathon Legard? (Who is NOT in the same league as Brundle)
I think Brundle should do more of the main features in the BBC program, Legard isn't the top man for the job, his style just relies on a driver being there. Anthony Davidson and David Croft on Radio 5 Live are far better. I think even the ridiculous CBBC commentry with Perry Mcarthy+Co is better!
Right well I'll set the record straight on that one - Williams chose not to renew Damon's contract in mid '96 , effectively he was sacked.Arrows was one of the few seats left available.
Not true. He could've joined McLaren or Ferrari but he liked the excellent facilities at Tom Walkinshaw's team and wanted to be the number 1 driver in the team, which wouldn't have been the case at McLaren or Ferrari.
The decision to get rid of Hill was probably made in 95 after all those errors he made and it was no secret that Williams wanted Frentzen.
he was offered a jordan seat but turned it down for 1997 because arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw promised him that the new car would be capable of winning races. If you ask me Damon never deserved a top car anyway, since leaving Williams he was outpaced by almost every team mate, even Diniz in 97
Panis really did have a good car underneath him that season, so unlucky with that crash in Canada. I can't for the life of me remember who his team-mate was that season.. he did outclass him on many occasions though. Was it Nakano?
Yeah Shinji Nakano was his team mate for the fisrt half, then it was Jarno Trulli - who left Minardi to join Prost I think cos Nakano was a pay driver
Jarno substituted Panis for seven GPs, as he couldn't race. Nakano was Honda's protege & when Prost took Peugeot engines, Trulli could easily stay with the team.
Mostly accurate- apart from Hakkinen (who improved a lot in the second half of the season) and Panis (who was never quite the same post legs-break). At least Gerhard Berger managed to win later that year to ensure his retirement season was a graceful one.
And Schumacher walking into a video camera at 1.05? Priceless ;)
I like how she knows there are at least nine of them! Lol! The Department of Health certainly would be unsure over the intrepid nature of the students!
The most unfortunate predictions; Panis with no doubt. Sadly, that terrible shunt made a big impact on him, as he never drove like he did before Canada '97. The Monaco win was his first & only one - how ironic the life can be? ;/
What is the name of the music? thankyou

It seems odd to hear Mika Hakkinen being talked about like that when all you hear now is complete and utter - and deserved - reverence.
Nobody can predict the future though, and in fairness to Martin, at this point in the '97 season Mika was indeed underperforming.

@wahaya2 And hill was was offered the chance to replace him for 98! but opted for jordan instead! big mistake.

when panis crashed he was never as good as before.
funny how there was so many things he said that were completely turned aronud
1. Schumacher A+ after jerez i dont thinks so.
2. Villeneuve A - he was chamion!
3. Panis " his victory in monaco will not be his last" yes it was
4. Hakkinen "lackluster. will be looking for alternative employment" turned out double champion with Mclaren in 98 nd 99 !!!

Never heard Martin be so wrong xD

sadly enough monaco '96 WAS his only win, that injury ruined his carrer.

Poor old Panis, he was heading to a top team if he hadn't had that big crash in Montreal. Ruined his season.
Also, Martin sounds totally different. He is way less formal and more opinionated these days.

This was before the McMerc became the Rocket Ship it was at the end of the season, when Mika and David were doing amazing.

Arrows was the best left. He had no choice.

His options were limited, but Arrows was not the only one left, hence many people were surprised at the decision.
