i wonder, how many, of the persons who hold a viseral negitive responce to this scene, would suddenly be violently in favor of it if they found that the offence was arson, or rape? I find that the problem with the use of coorperal punishment, is the lack of ego control, somehow we use our anger as a guide to justice. or worse we use our greed and ego to take liberties that we'd not otherwise allow. While I think this is a little "over the top"..and it is there to get an emotional reaction against discipline.. I thank my parents for spanking me out of love when I was little. It taught me to appreciate, love, respect, and behave. I am thankful, appreciative citizen today.

if you did that to an adult you go to jail. so better to beat a child and call it "dicipline" let me answer that...NO! my son who is 6 was beaten badly enough the muscle..not just the skin but the muscle in his butt was bruised..Why? he kept making a sound repetativly. HE HAS AUTISM! he cannot control that and is nonverbal. . another boy told me what happened, the school atempted to cover it but the ER said the bruising was consistant with abuse. this abuse must stop

@MrSunshineinthesky That has nothing to do with corporal punishment, but instead the misinformation of mental handicaps. Because of the protection given to children, they have become petulent and insubordinate. There is no longer any respect for their elders, respect that you see in cultures which do physically punish children. The problem isn't the punishment, it's the cultural view that it is wrong.

My sister got married 2 months ago- it was a wonderful event & we all had a great time!

everryone seems to be forgetting that kids have no respect these days for anything. If a kid knew that if he/she was rude hed get a couple of smacks he/she will probably not want to do that again out of fear of being hit. It would be great for bullies too because then if they are doing something mean to someone else then they get a taste of their own medicine...

@andreaniall2 actually, people always said "kids of today have no respect", evers since humankind existed. All I learned from being smacked by my parents is to NEVER smack my kids. Taking away privilegues works fine as well and does not imply violence would be a propiate manner of disciplining.
