Is there any type of app on the fire which is like microsoft word? or whch would be good for taking notes from lectures? and any developments on a uk release date that you may no about?
@stulow07 There are a couple. Quickoffice Pro and OfficeSuite Pro (available in the Amazon Appstore). The Fire comes with Quickoffice, which allows you to view Word, Excel, PDF docs etc. The Pro versions, however, allow you to create and edit docs. In fact, not to long ago, Amazon offered both Pro versions as their Free App of the Day...and I'm sure they will come around again for free, or you can buy them.
@maryestes24 Books automatically download to the device (and are also saved in the cloud). Therefore, if you purchase a book, it defaults to downloading directly to the Fire's internal memory. You can also "delete from device" by long pressing on the book.
Apps automatically download to the Fire, but do not automatically install. After download you are asked whether you want to install or not.
Magazines require a manual download.
To my knowledge there is no way change default settings

when you're downloading a book, app, magazine, etc, how do you make sure it downloads to the DEVICE, and not the cloud, and vice versa?
