Nike is a sporting goods company that is making skateboard footwear to make even more money. It's all about ethics.

DC is a big company now... but they were a skateboard shoe company that was a part of skateboarding. Nike bought their way into the industry. They are a sporting goods company that has "branched out" to make another buck. And Nike has people who did research to figure out just how to make it into the skateboarding industry and have people support it. Putting together a good time was part of their plan to success. DC was a skateboard company from the start... and that's the difference.

DC, I think, went in the wrong direction... selling to companies like PACSUN. DC is a major corporation now... and I believe they are out to make another buck. I agree with that... but I think Nike is completely separate from that. When I think of Nike, I think about football cleats and basketball shoes. Skateboarding isn't just another sport to cater to. Nike hired a Market Research team to figure out just how to market to skateboarders.
