  • "WHO the fuck are they?" - "They ARE Rock'n'Roll Baby !"

  • there was an interview with pete townshend saying someone wrote this and it sold about 3 copys and was a disaster ...........why its a great song

  • ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Excellent! And I've got a Union-Jack-jacket. Wore it recently, and got called a nazi (twice). Not recommended. And that was within 3 hours. There are some bell-ends about. J.

  • groooooooooovy tune, is that clear!

  • the who were called high numbers when they released this song. great version! we all know it's slim harpo's tune but who cares! everyone took a song off a black folk/blues player.. anyone ever listen to bob dylan's first album? (his best) he didn't write one song one it... and elvis pretty much lifted arthur big boy crudup songs and style. my point they were all great and nobody gives a shit who started what.

  • Does anyone know the harmonica tabs?

  • @neodog1 This song is based on an old Blues standard: "Got Love If You Want It" by Slim Harpo. The Who, as well as The Stones, Eric Clapton, etc. acknowledge the importance of original Blues greats like: Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Son House, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Sonny Boy Williamson etc. Without the original Blues greats, The Who, Stones etc wouldn't have existed. They would have had nothing to draw their ideas from in the first place as great as they all are.

  • @ps3matty

take a good quality UJ to any decent tailor.

    KILLLLERR tune!!

    Lee

    Liverpool Mods

  • Heheh yeh or that ;p

    Cheers Lee!

  • modclothin . com - 'Heritage is evident, style is absolute'

    They do one :)

Warning - They're for Ace Faces only ;)

  • Indeed, as has been noted. Thanks for commenting ;)

  • I love the Who but this is a direct rip off of a great bluesmans tune. Got love if you want it.

Lost respect for these cats for this unless they put Slim Harpo's name on it also.

shame on you Who shame shame shame

I hope you gave him some money.

  • @bluesdoor You love the Who!? Then you should know this was in their early days where along with other great uk rock bands to be, they were copying blues musicians closely - out of respect and gratitude for bringing proper music to the UK and at the time this would have been a tribute not a rip off. The blues masters back in the US were thankfull as Who, Stones, Yardbirds etc repopularised blues and R&R in the US in the late 60s. Don't try and pose as a purist if you don't know the whole story.

  • Nik I'm far from a purest but I do love music in its purest form. This inclucludes the blues R&B and even this who rip off of a Slim Harpo song. is pure Who The Stones 1963 Recorded many that had the lyrics but not the music note for note and still put the creators name on it. Their Love in vain say's R..J [traditionally arraged by Stones. The Who took the music and made new words but sang the same melody that's all I'm sayin it's called giving credit where credit's due

    .

  • Futhermore do you think I could sing differnt lyrics to my generation and make money off it?? Have you even hear Slim Harpo's song.? The Blacks musicans couldn't sue until the late 70's Read up on Willie Dixon vs Led Zep. Your Wrong and stand to be corrected son. You are write thankfully the Stones ect..loved the Black music but very wrong in saying I don't know the whole story. I've been in this game a long time was raise with this game.. I'm glad your so passionate about the Who but U Wrong.

  • PART3 for Nik P

The Harmonica is so close to note for note. I know you got to learn somewhere and they learned from the best .

Give crdit where credits due The Stones always did.

The blues R&B R&R & Rockabilly Old skool and now they write there own old skool LONG LIVE THE WHO LONG LIVE

    Where it came from

  • @bluesdoor WOW! Part 3! Didn't mean to get you all emotional dude. Put some blues on and relax, I meant no offence! (much)

  • @NikPathak no offence taken

  • Your whole debate demonstrates yet another point about DECENT music. I was waiting to see if the debate turned into an adolescent argument with name calling, cursing and general low-iq bullshit that would be the hallmark of MODERN "music" fans.

Thank you both for not disappointing me and for having a sensible discussion ;)

Just shows prople with taste always impress!

Be well, both of you ;)

  • @xenoxiq LOL Yeah Thanks xenoxiq

    no need for that stuff

  • They actually went under Pete Meadon's silly recommendation The High Numbers for this track.

    Still blinding though.

  • This is very bluesy, sounds great. They got away from this sound later in their career.

  • You know something? I always thaought that too!

    Thank you for commenting.

  • early who ROCKS! thanks :)
