  • Hello all you foreigners- we invesnted the FRONT WHEEL DRIVE TRANSVERSE ENGINE LAYOUT! just sad the pompous englis stupid management pissed it all away to the Germans...I mean can you imagine Japan letting Toyota go to the Chinese??

  • If you watch the mini safety vide thing on here he says it had terrible accident safety and the designer of the mini said "I design my cars which such good steering, brakes and handling, that if a driver gets into an accident, it's there own fault" lol Sir Alec issigonis, what a ledge :)

  • this mini doesnt have 0:52

  • @oneleggedtog No car had head restraints until the late '60s. The idea was not to have accidents!

  • the very start of that clip features a toy mini....corgi??

  • How come these English ads talk about "miles per hour?"

  • @oldcremona because we measure distance in miles

  • @xXGreyWolf ok I thought all of Europe was on the metric system--I must be mistaken.

  • @oldcremona Where d'you think America got its miles from?

  • 0:48 narrator had a DJ remix there XD

  • 0:50 what happend?

  • thats so cool loving seeing the original ads..

  • The car depicted is left-hand drive.

Perhaps that film-clip was re-voiced in other languages for the european markets.

  • Great! but the large trunk is only big enough for a spare tire haha

  • @117246 Kidding aside, it fits 2 spare tires and a small uhaul size box, as well the battery and 5 gallon gas tank all in the trunk of the vehicle .. if you fold down the rear seat you can also push a pair of skis through the back, the Mini had a hole cutout for this purpose.

  • @starlord The hole cut out in the boot was for assembly at the factory, there was also a similar hole in the firewall, (behind the speedo).

When the mini was built, it was constantly rotated through 360 degrees.

  • Better than you think... I've got a standard 1960 Austin Mini 850 which cruised back from Newquay to North Wales at 75 / 80

  • What are they like at 70 mph?

  • very loud, but you still feel in control despite what a lot of people (hu probably have never drivn a mini) think.

  • @thomasking55 Noisy at 70 but still excellent roadholding.

  • Great archive! Would be worth doing a higher res version.

  • What a great advert !
