no true, fuel and oxidiser wont burn underwater unless there is enough energy to activate the reaction, water is very effective at removing heat from a reaction, a good example is glycerol and permanganate, a powerful fuel oxidiser mix, but you will never get it to burn underwater

This is true but if you do manage to fid a mixture with a low enough activation energy you could technically create an underwater fuse however it would be volatile and impractical if the initial input energy was any where around room temperature let alone water temperature. however there are other ways of sustaining heat energy in a fuse to make a self sustaining reaction thus under water fuses exist.

Well when im outta BP, my replacement for it is MG and match powder, ratio 50/50.

burn just as fast and as more heated than BP due to the magnesium, more effective fuse but nice vid, 5*

its not annoying to powder, when i grind mine up sandpaper makes it like baking soda lol :P. file makes it a bit more coarse but still very fine, only thing i dont like about "string" fuses (with mg and stuff stuck on them) is that there unreliable for going through tiny holes like the top of a polumna, visco all the way.

In your video you already have visco fuse which is pretty much waterproof to start with. All you do is put sunscreen on it even though it burns underwater without it (as seen in your video). If visco was on hand around here i wouldn't need to make my own water proof fuse. The so called "weird chemicals" your talking about is the black powder im guessing, an altered form of that is whats inside the purchased standard visco fuse in your video

Thanks buddy. From the sticks of the matches i think it would do great not sure about the burnt match head, also you dont get much charcoal from a match. If you just burn lots of napkins or news paper you can use that charcoal. check you tube for some how to vids on charcoal, thats how i made mine (willow charcoal).

OMG I tried this yesterday and it works!!! You are a genius! Lol, I made a 1 meter fuse. I also recommend adding some 600mesh aluminium to the black powder, it gives it a very steady burn rate. Approx. 1:9 ratio of aluminium to black powder. Also, sometimes the fuse cuts out, I have found coating the fuse in hair wax prevents this from happening. THANKS!!!

its quite fast. check out my other video for an explosion from it, that was a small metal canister filled with about 6-7 grams of black powder. could here it from 2-3k's away. how did you make your powder? ball milling is important, if that didnt work for you try the cia method

You see, I live in N.Z and can't find a ball mill anywhere. I make my black powder with a mortar & pestle. Even worse, I use Hardwood charcoal, which is EXTREMELY hard! I can't find any other charcoal. I have to spend all day pounding the hell out of it! I seriously need to get around to making my own soft charcoal. It's very annoying. Any tips??? THANKS!!!

ball mill, maybe get it off the net i duno but the good old morter and pestle dosnt do a bad job. willow charcoal aint hard to get, find a willow tree near you (eg. weeping willow) and cut a thick branch off, dry it, put it in a metal container( make sure u have a hole in the metal) and smash it up good luck. post vids of you explosions
