@Jaiko6: I grew up in Trinidad and live in Toronto and a few of my friends are Jamaican and they don't sound that way. Each island has a unique accent and in my opinion for this competition, Miss TnT and Jamaica sounded more N. American. Take Wendy Fitzwilliams a former Miss Universe winner - you hear her trini accent while speaking proper English. Now if Miss Jamaica went to school in Miami it makes sense why she sounds that way. I was just disappointed hearing them especially for Miss TnT.
Obviously you haven't traveled much, as a Jamaican, English is our official language, we write it and study throughout university level and for most us we code-switched all the time. If we are speaking to another Jamaican, based on familiarity, status or level of education we may speak Jamaican Patios. This girl actually lives and studies in Miami..thus perhaps why she may sound American. I never live in the USA, but I get response like yours when people are amazed at my command of English.

i will not be watching it this year cause she doesn't stand a chance. i've watched ALL of her interviews. the girl is boring, uncharismatic and unfulfilling. i have women in my own family who qualifies far better on just personality alone. when youre in a competitionat this level you HAVE TO shine, and with so many competitors, you are only allowed a few minutes to do so. idk if it's because of her medical condition why she often looks tired and aloof, but she wont even place. she has no spark.

Lots of contestants' answer to the 2nd question was: Women have an advantage over men because they're able to produce life.I personally I don't think this is the best answer to this question.Yes,women are able to produce life but there are women, who are not able to get pregnant because they have health issues or choose not to..etc..So, are they not considered women,then? For some women this is not an advantage,either by choice or by faith.

@Jaiko6: I grew up in Trinidad and live in Toronto and a few of my friends are Jamaican and they don't sound that way. Each island has a unique accent and in my opinion for this competition, Miss TnT and Jamaica sounded more N. American. Take Wendy Fitzwilliams a former Miss Universe winner - you hear her trini accent while speaking proper English. Now if Miss Jamaica went to school in Miami it makes sense why she sounds that way. I was just disappointed hearing them especially for Miss TnT.

Obviously you haven't traveled much, as a Jamaican, English is our official language, we write it and study throughout university level and for most us we code-switched all the time. If we are speaking to another Jamaican, based on familiarity, status or level of education we may speak Jamaican Patios. This girl actually lives and studies in Miami..thus perhaps why she may sound American. I never live in the USA, but I get response like yours when people are amazed at my command of English.
