@DerSchmo Dude im a biker and i actualy know what im talking about, yes theres air in the tunnel offcourse, but there is very little drag in the tunnel when you blasting your bike down the tunnel, so you acn achieve greater speeds.

But the drag in a tunnel is the same as on a normal road with the same wind-speed around u !

the Clue i a Tunnel is just that there is nearly no wind in it (headwind, sidewind....) so that the machine only has to fight against the produced airstream / turbulence!

Das stimmt! Hersteller wie Kawasaki, Yamaha und Suzuki haben seit ein paar Jahren eine freiwillige 300 km/h Beschränkung eingebaut. Die Suzuki GSX-R 1000 ist zum Beispiel der 1., 2., und 6. Gang gedroßelt und der Tachno zeigt, wie schon gesagt, nicht mehr als 299 an. Das tut er auch nicht, wenn alle Gänge entdroßelt werden.

I used to test these beasts out as a test rider for Kawasaki, and i can happily tell you they will do 330... some have been reported quicker, but i'm yet to grow a pair big enough to push THAT hard. The yamaha R1, suzuki GSX-R 1000, and honda fireblade can all top 300, but by law it has been decided in japan that it is illegal to display true speed... they actually wanted to factory tune these bikes to 180, the way they do with cars over there... What a crying shame

Sadly our salaries arent big enough for that type of lunacy. Also they only allow factory parts, so all the work is done by the rider and it takes effort to get to those speeds and maintain it. But chuck an Arrows Quickshift kit and track exhaust system on, and you have a different beast. Takes Brochure figures and destroys them. what was 285 going to 6th is now 300. Scary, but with an auto clutch system like that you can gain almost 20kph in the top end. If you have a death wish that is

299 was in 5th, note the drop in the rpms by about 7% when it hits 299, shifted to sixth. It has something to do with the fact that a factory (by law?) cant program these to display over 299kmph even though it will hit that with another gear to spare

The maximum displayed on the speedo on zx10r's is 299km/h, it can go faster. if you mount a gps on board, that will tell you the true speed.

alizx63r is not the rider. This rider's name is Pedro "DROFER" ferreira from madeira, Portugal. He passed away in 2008 from a head on collision with a car which wasn't his fault. RIP.

i got an 07 zx10. It'll hit 189mph and stop there in 5th gear red lined, then accelerate another grand or so rpm in 6th. They say they indicate about 10% high. I would estimate top speed is somewhere between 190mph and 200mph
