I have a portenzo case, and I have not had any problems with it at all. In fact, it doesn't have the continuous problems of corners coming out or the wooden frame cracking like a dodo case. I also love that it holds the iPad securely in place (I've tried the shake test), and the customer service is awesome. Totally recommend this company and all of its products. portenzo.com
I too am having problems with the case and I have owned it for 6 months. I ordered replacement rubber pads which helped with keeping it in place, but now the wooden casing is starting to break off in a couple of places. I am a careful user of my iPad as it was a big investment at $700+ and I get a little bit nervous about it falling out of the case. I love the looks and functionability of the product but am concerned about the longevity. I don't expect it to last a lifetime but 6 months?!
@dlmremtnt You're not the first person I've heard complaining of the bamboo cracking or simply falling apart. Honestly, I'm amazed DODO is still selling cases. Their track record is horrible. Sorry you had such a bad experience. I still highly recommend the Apple branded case for the original iPad. I'm using a BookBook for an iPad 2, but I'm not 100% thrilled with that either.
@plumberdoc2 Mine didn't even last that long. DODOcase is seriously going to have to adjust their design. There is too much competition for them to coast on the fact that they were quick to market a Moleskin type case.
Anyone looking for a similar aesthetic may want to check out the bookbook case from twelve south. Personally I am torn between the two, but the bookbook case appears to be more durable and secure. Anyone who has both I'd appreciate the feedback.
@JustinCatalano I actually have a BookBook case as well and will be publishing a review of it shortly. I've been using it for about a week now and definitely recommend it over the DODOcase in terms of durability and protection. It makes the package a little bigger and I'm not a huge fan of zippers, but I'm reasonably certain the zipper will last longer than an elastic band. It's got a great feel and provides excellent padding.
@ericknowsbestable Unfortunately, no... I've heard of them, but I tried contacting the company to see if I could review one of their cases and received no reply.
@JustinCatalano Just making sure that you saw the BookBook review I posted. I'm still very happy with everything except for the ergonomics of the case while typing.
of course it's not made for "rough play", neither is the ipad. also, if it falls out when you lean it forward... dont lean it forward. it's not like youll be using it like that. but if for some strange reason you want to, take it out if that impossible angle is so important to you.
I have the bodyguardz protector around the side edges of my iPad which made the fit into the dodocase to be very snug. I tried flipping it upside down and the iPad did not pop out. So I guess that could be one solution, but it does cost more to get the bodyguardz.
I must say many of these complaints are silly. It's akin to saying 'i hate rubber cases' and then buying one. Obviously you knew before making the investment a lot about the case, including that it's a moleskin case which isn't extremely durable, as well as how you would need to hold the thing. Valid concerns are it falling out, which hasn't been a problem for me yet but it is occurring with many. Generally I think you're being a bit unreasonable.
@s3ntry93 Thank you for the comment. I actually feel that most of the issues I raised are things that you could never know without actually holding the case in your hands. That's obviously something that you can't do with a case that is not available in stores. Hopefully my review will help consumers make an educated decision when purchasing their own case.

PS. The typing angle is better imo than others!
