A few questions.... are you powershifting 1st-2nd? is it tuned? Upgraded any of the shifting components? Different transmission fluid? That's one of the quickest 1st-2nd gear shifts I've seen.

I ran 5.9 sec with a midpipe and Rear motor mount. I'm still trying to find the sweet spot where I don't waste too much time letting the tires spin.
This car is faster than 0-60 times will demonstrate. From a roll, it is damned fast, even when stock! With 2 simple bolt-ons (Midpipe, CAI/SRI), you're at 290 crank horsepower with 10% less drivetrain loss than AWD. Worse launch, but faster in the straights for sure. I've beaten several Evos and STI's on freeway "3 honk" pulls.
shift a lil sooner...it will help a lot...after 5800rpm the bowerband just drips on its fave well done. low 5s is right! launched at 22sec hit 60 at 27sec well done!

I have the MazdaSpeed too; and it does do about sixty in five seconds. Just have to shift it right. I added KUHMO Racing tires and MB Wheels. Mine is blue, with tinted windows by ProImage. Grand Touring edition with Bose Sound System. It just about beats your average anything your average joker is driving. I know, because I eat Subaru STi's for breakfast. Some joker in a Lexus tried me the other day..I feel sorry for that guy.
Regardless of price, a MS3 will not "eat Sti's for breakfast" I said nothing about price, nor did he. All he said is that the MS3 is faster, which it isn't. And if you want pure hp for your dollar go buy a WS6 or a Z28
the mazdaspeed3 is limmited in the FIRST 2 GEARS because its got so much fucking torque.
its not realy hard to get this car to go faster than stock the only prob is the limmiter and that will always reduce the 0-60 even when u upgrade the car with mods
u mazdaspeed3 can hit 100mph in bout 14-15secs depending on the driver and mods done. stock it does the quater mile 14.1-14.2 at 101-104. these are articles ive read done by either car and driver or road and track. sport compact has one as well, but i havent read it. i have yet to do mine, but summer is coming up so the track will be open in a few months.
5.4 sec is very nice , this car have a litle problem (in the first 4 gear is short in mph and push ) for speed advantage in a race change very fast the gear .
i have like 4 or 5 car magazines comparing the mazdaspeed3 ( crowned fwd king ). over and over it keeps winning titles. i got wards 10best engines, best car under 35k ( in canada and best under 25k in the US). there is no arguement here.. i dont understande ppl. they prove it over and over and over again, yet guys like puntohgt200 are so effin stubborn. look it up on the internet.

A STOCK 3 mps does 0-60mph in the 6.7 seconds and 0-100mph in 17.6sec FACT! Similar to the golf gti.I own a golf gti and have raced many mazda 3 mps from the lights and slightly edge them till about 100mph, from there on the mps normally edges ahead. Nothing between the two really, apart from the fact that the gti handles FAR FAR better.

vrift.. I'm not sure if you've raced more than one type of car... They are not all the same. The shifting points are probably more similar to a torqey v8. Go to the dealership and testdrive one.
ive raced plently of imports. sport imports thrive on limiters. sum even above limiter(not a good idea unles moded). tru that the ms3's r boost limited in 1st n 2nd but thats because theyr shorter(mor reson to wait longer). if u see a limiter dynoed it doesnt die off. great thing about turbos is that it holds a psi past redline so its always positive. the main reason is the shift lag tho. 2 pros in equal cars, whoever shifts first is gona lose n i dont need a dealership, i hav rich friends ;)
if u want a better run, find the slip point, find the limiter, n find the point of back pressure. if u want a quik tut, i can teach u wonders. just ask n i'l send u a message
There's another thing you want to find and that's when the power severely drops. This is somewhere around 5k... Check out some of the hp and torque curves on the other videos of mazdaspeed 3's. The turbos are rather small on these cars so they boost quickly and die quickly. There's no reason to take this car near redline... I've got one. It's a change for me though because I've also got a b16a CRX that loves to go straight to 8k. I think the guy did a decent job shifting.
u must not race very much. the peak of the power band on ms3 is around 5.5k but 5-6k is the plateau. wen u shift to early u r jumpin down into the lower plateau. u want the rpm to drop rite on the peak or higher. any lower u will sacrifice torque wen u need it the most(in the begining of each gear). also with cars equal speed, whoever shifts first is gona hav a disadvantage. think about shift lag. the longer u stay in each gear the better. its especially important if ur only running to 60mph
all i know is that you do NOT shift at redline, the turbos are useless n they just die off. i dont care where u land on rpm's after that. wherever u land after that is better then hitting redline. /discussion
u obviously kno less than both of us so dont even try. at least sirdons point was a common misconception n his power band point was plausible. no turbo just dies. they hit internal pressure or controlled pressure n stagger n no turbo is useless either. even if u run 1psi, thats 1 above atmospheric pressure equaling out to 1/14.7xhp/~.6 gain in most of the spectrum n yea i kno u dont care wher the rpm lands becuz u dont hav enuf knolege to understand wut it does

sory but ur rong. that shiftin was horrible. the limiter is likely at 7000 on that car. unless the hp/tq curve is rilly low (which i dont believe becuz its an asian car with turbo), or the synchronizer cant handle it. the latter is mor believable but that can be fixed with better foot work

A rear motor mount greatly improves the shifting and launch. I just filled my stock mounts blank areas with a plastic Epoxy resin that hardens up good. No more wheel hop for me adn the lanch is awesome.
your boost is limited in first and second, hold down the DSC button when you start the car, this turns all the traction and stuff off, will also give you more boost in 1st and 2nd. i ran a consistent 5.2 on a Gtech. no flat shifting. only CBE and K+N drop.
Riff I did'nt know the DSC was also linked to the boost map..... THat's very interesting. Smart as well. I knew the performance diff was there but attributed it to a slip and then the e-throttle backing off a bit. Thanks for pointing that out.
aren't you supposed to shift at like 5,800 rpms to get the best out of the turbo on speed3's? you could have gotten to 60mph faster than 6 seconds if you did it right.
I have it to the hundreth on my PC and at most it is mid 5's. Depending on when you start. The tire spin on take off so the car dosent start moving till like 10ish on the speedo. This run is slightly uphill like 5degs so that likely ads a 1/10th or so. I should just start in 2nd.
Sorry dude, but I clocked that right at 6 sec... Not a bad launch, just shifted a tad early to 3rd, no? Also, have you tried flat shifting to keep your rev's up and turbo spooled? Have seen a few low 5's on this setup tho! Keep at it...

nicee. 07's have a much shorter 2nd gear ratio from what i've seen compared to the 08's and 9's.
many 07 models had problems and recalls with motor mounts so maybe they changed somethin around for the 08s and 09s

the mazdaspeed3 is limmited in the FIRST 2 GEARS because its got so much fucking torque.
its not realy hard to get this car to go faster than stock the only prob is the limmiter and that will always reduce the 0-60 even when u upgrade the car with mods

u mazdaspeed3 can hit 100mph in bout 14-15secs depending on the driver and mods done. stock it does the quater mile 14.1-14.2 at 101-104. these are articles ive read done by either car and driver or road and track. sport compact has one as well, but i havent read it. i have yet to do mine, but summer is coming up so the track will be open in a few months.

i have like 4 or 5 car magazines comparing the mazdaspeed3 ( crowned fwd king ). over and over it keeps winning titles. i got wards 10best engines, best car under 35k ( in canada and best under 25k in the US). there is no arguement here.. i dont understande ppl. they prove it over and over and over again, yet guys like puntohgt200 are so effin stubborn. look it up on the internet.

A STOCK 3 mps does 0-60mph in the 6.7 seconds and 0-100mph in 17.6sec FACT! Similar to the golf gti.I own a golf gti and have raced many mazda 3 mps from the lights and slightly edge them till about 100mph, from there on the mps normally edges ahead. Nothing between the two really, apart from the fact that the gti handles FAR FAR better.

vrift.. I'm not sure if you've raced more than one type of car... They are not all the same. The shifting points are probably more similar to a torqey v8. Go to the dealership and testdrive one.

ive raced plently of imports. sport imports thrive on limiters. sum even above limiter(not a good idea unles moded). tru that the ms3's r boost limited in 1st n 2nd but thats because theyr shorter(mor reson to wait longer). if u see a limiter dynoed it doesnt die off. great thing about turbos is that it holds a psi past redline so its always positive. the main reason is the shift lag tho. 2 pros in equal cars, whoever shifts first is gona lose n i dont need a dealership, i hav rich friends ;)

There's another thing you want to find and that's when the power severely drops. This is somewhere around 5k... Check out some of the hp and torque curves on the other videos of mazdaspeed 3's. The turbos are rather small on these cars so they boost quickly and die quickly. There's no reason to take this car near redline... I've got one. It's a change for me though because I've also got a b16a CRX that loves to go straight to 8k. I think the guy did a decent job shifting.

u must not race very much. the peak of the power band on ms3 is around 5.5k but 5-6k is the plateau. wen u shift to early u r jumpin down into the lower plateau. u want the rpm to drop rite on the peak or higher. any lower u will sacrifice torque wen u need it the most(in the begining of each gear). also with cars equal speed, whoever shifts first is gona hav a disadvantage. think about shift lag. the longer u stay in each gear the better. its especially important if ur only running to 60mph

all i know is that you do NOT shift at redline, the turbos are useless n they just die off. i dont care where u land on rpm's after that. wherever u land after that is better then hitting redline. /discussion

u obviously kno less than both of us so dont even try. at least sirdons point was a common misconception n his power band point was plausible. no turbo just dies. they hit internal pressure or controlled pressure n stagger n no turbo is useless either. even if u run 1psi, thats 1 above atmospheric pressure equaling out to 1/14.7xhp/~.6 gain in most of the spectrum n yea i kno u dont care wher the rpm lands becuz u dont hav enuf knolege to understand wut it does

sory but ur rong. that shiftin was horrible. the limiter is likely at 7000 on that car. unless the hp/tq curve is rilly low (which i dont believe becuz its an asian car with turbo), or the synchronizer cant handle it. the latter is mor believable but that can be fixed with better foot work

whers the peak tq? hp peak isnt as important wen shiftin. u lose engine momentum wen the clutch is open. ur rite bout the synchro but thers ways to fix that. it dificult to perfect but u shud try. ppl dont understand that synchros r ment to synchro the layshaft not the dif so u hav to control it. try power shiftin but u gota do it rite. ppl also hav a misunderstandin of power shiftin. u hav to slip out the teeth insted of clutch revin. if u dont kno how to slip out just ask befor u ruin ur trany

A rear motor mount greatly improves the shifting and launch. I just filled my stock mounts blank areas with a plastic Epoxy resin that hardens up good. No more wheel hop for me adn the lanch is awesome.

your boost is limited in first and second, hold down the DSC button when you start the car, this turns all the traction and stuff off, will also give you more boost in 1st and 2nd. i ran a consistent 5.2 on a Gtech. no flat shifting. only CBE and K+N drop.

Riff I did'nt know the DSC was also linked to the boost map..... THat's very interesting. Smart as well. I knew the performance diff was there but attributed it to a slip and then the e-throttle backing off a bit. Thanks for pointing that out.

I have it to the hundreth on my PC and at most it is mid 5's. Depending on when you start. The tire spin on take off so the car dosent start moving till like 10ish on the speedo. This run is slightly uphill like 5degs so that likely ads a 1/10th or so. I should just start in 2nd.
