oh,and one more thing.....america has the best access to the best drugs.Everyone knows they are the world champions of doping,and yes,a population of 300 million,and a large pool of talent,to choose from helps.It also makes it ferociously competitive.Yes they have a good college system,which churns out world class athletes,but the question is,why???? and how???i doubt theyre only eating porridge,and i doubt its just "good coaching" and "sports science"..

U.S.A= More incentives, more infrastructures, more scholarship, more athletic programs, more people joining them. In most other countries sport is considered crap because you can't make a living of it. Our athletic infrastructures are run down...etc. Before you say America this or that, go to other countries to see what it's like.

The US has a population of 307m. The UK has a population of 61m.

That means the US has 5 times more people that the UK.

Look at the population of Jamaica - just over 2m and look at the amount of athletes they churn out.

Each STATE of the US should compete against regular countries that would be fairer. Some states have higher populations that many develloped countries.

Its a NUMBERS game NOTHING more!

So even a country like Namibia, the home of the great Frankie Fredericks which also has a population of just over 2 million like Jamaica statistically peoduces more athletes than the US!

he is right about the collegiate system in the states. Other countries are more involved in a Clubs system. Which makes it hard for young athletes to suceed. Great runner Mike
