I was just wondering if there's a way to convert the reflected image into a bitmap.
it's really convenient, because it need less processing, and you can apply transparency gradient directly to the reflected bitmap rather than create a rectangle etc etc...
i saw it's possible with corel, is it with inkscape too?

Menu Edit>Copy to bitmap, or Alt+B allows to copy a selection to bitmap, then managing the bitmap to create a reflection

You could also duplicate your shiny text, and using the top center node to drag it down. This will also reverse the image.
I like your tutorials. They are in lay terms, and as a beginner, they are quite helpful.
