it may not have been one of those times when people were supposed to stand up, ya know? sometimes our church does the "someone is going to sing a song, just sit and reflect on the words" usually in response to a sermon with a pertinent / similar message. i feel like saddleback of all places is a pretty worshipful one.
When I first saw everyone sitting down, I was kind of sad. I used to be quiet and watch everyone else worship too so I know where they are coming from. But there is freedom when we surrender during worship with lifting our hands as a way to say I'm Yours God, all of me. There's freedom in worship it's a way for us to draw near to God. God says to draw near to Him and He'll respond. It's amazing when we catch the Father's love, we can't help but worship Him.
I dunno. The first time I heard this song I was awestruck. I didn't speak or sing or raise my hands I just cried and cried and cried. A week later and I'm still the same. I think that this particular recording has the anointing of God on it and I expect He does a work in somebody's heart every time it is played. Thank you God.
I respectfully disagree with the negative comments about the congregation. For one, when he performed this it was still a VERY new song, and I bet very few people in the congregation knew it. Second, I don't see the lyrics up anywhere for them to sing along (maybe I just wasn't watching carefully enough though). Third, the congregation is not a concert audience, and they are not "worshiping for show" so kudos to them for worshiping in their hearts! And thank God for inspiring this beautiful song
@freshraj Very well said. And also Phil Wickham doesn't write songs for people to sing and worship to, his songs are more about telling stories. I don't blame people for not wanting to sing this atall. D x
@freshraj The first time I heard the first 30 seconds of this song I started to worship God...That is not any excuse, and people at concerts do not worship for show...don't really know what concerts you go to...anyway God Bless
One thing I love about Phil is that he will worship God despite the response of the people in front of him. It is an inspiration for all worship leaders to keep the mindset that we are worshiping GOD, not seeking for the outward display of approval of man. I am thankful that God has raised up worship leaders like Phil today!
Even though there doesn't seem to be much of an external response to these songs, it doesn't mean that thoughts of God isn't on their minds or hearts at that moment. If the people are applying Romans 12:1-2 in the midst of this sinful world, I can't really knock on them. From what it looks like, most of them are probably old fashioned which is why it seems dead. We can never underestimate how the Holy Spirit works in people's hearts. That's just what I think, I could be wrong haha
This is one of Phil Wickham's best. Phil made me cry with this song at his performance in Santa Fe Springs, CA for their Memorial Day Tribute. This guy has touched me with this song. Celio is so wondrous!
@minismartie08 they shouldn't be the audience... The real audience is very pleased with His children's hearts lifting up His name when our hands can't be lifted high enough.
Cielo is such a gift and blessing to all that get to hear it! Thank you Phil for sharing your gift and glorifying God with it! Bless you! love from Calvaryslo <3
@emalnati8 This is something that has always really bothered me. I subscribe to SaddlebackWorship because the worship is great and you have some great guest worship leaders. But in EVERY video, the congregation are just sitting there. Not singing along, not worshipping, just sitting. In this video I could see people turning around and chatting at one of the most humbling parts of the song, and when Phil said they should stand up people were stretching! The band are the ONLY people worshipping :(
BEAUTIFUL song...but sad, that the audience has to be prompted to WORSHIP!!! Man, our God is SO WORTHY OF OUR PRAISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

can't believe the audience are not worshipping. What sort of church is this? We can only dream to have someone like Phil at our church.

They should call it Saddlebutt, instead of Saddleback, because they're butts are obviously stuck to their saddles.

I think emalnati8 meant God ( I am assuming that since HIM is capitalized)

I can't help but be sad that Phil had to even ASK the people there to stand and worship HIM!
