  • LOL Great video, the same things tripped me up a little bit when I first got the NeKoXXL. After I got it turned on the screen started loading upside down and I was all like Whaaat?!! Why???! Why is there always a catch!!!??? but of course everything was fine and normal lol It's just easy to get freaked out at first with such a fine and expensive machine. NIce vids, Thanks for making them :o)

  • which would u say was better....open labs nekoxxl or lxd.....studio blade,or the new controll blade

  • is it wise to run internet on this, i mean viruses and malware, storage for pictures ect. will slow that great keyboard down a lot.

Itens it better to make a workstation hoocked up on a switch and go between them for internet and stuff.!? just thinking here.

and can you upgrade the internals, i see its a old xp hardware and not the new maby x2 or x3 intel quad cores/ win 7

  • @SimpleFire100 I don't recommend people going on the internet with their NeKos. However, I do all the time because I know what I am doing. This machine is several years old. Of course technology has advanced a great deal since this board was made. You can contact Open Labs for upgrades or you can buy a Studioblade from Music Computing and then do all your upgrades yourself.

  • what studio sek is that

  • how much was this neko thing? looks very nice.

  • @youngkeita The NeKo XXL is $ 6,999.00 but if that is a bit steep for you there are other product choices from the Open Labs line and they have financing available too and sometimes sales and refurbished used items sometimes too. Check it out at the OpenLabs website openlabs.com/store/

  • do you use reaper with it and can you

  • @willxxxlife Yes, I use Reaper on my LX5.

  • @MakeItFunkyProds i got 2 get this

  • Thanks for the tips! good info learned tonZZ

  • hey funkybeats!! i finally got the lx5 it was on openlabs all this time for a recertify,so now im seeing that you can rout any knobs or buttons to many softwares but i cant figure out how to use the mfusion to do this i mean i dont know the part to make mfusion recognize the software i want to rout it in, im a fl studio user too so prolly ure using outboard buttons that way or with other softwares i know the basic way doing the link to controller but is not the same hit me up if u know somn bye!

  • hey nice videos man my lx5 itsd on the way im very anxious to finally get it! im curious on how the note repeat works i know thers a knob that on some lx5 says quantize and others says repeat value what you know about this?

  • @balhedz I don't know much about it. I believe the button works according to the software you are using it with. I have that button, but I don't use it. LOL! Congrats on your purchase!

  • Great video man I just got my yesterday!! Im not using FL Studios like you so I need to learn how to set my VST's inside of Riff.

  • @cgproduces Congratulations!!! Make sure to contact Open Labs and they will be glad to show you how to do it in RIFF.

  • im confused as to why.... you dont want to use a touch screen.. wasnt the whole idea to get rid of the mouse?

  • @mysticradio Nope. My purpose for getting the NeKo was to eliminate all of the seperate pieces and wires. I love using my mouse and keyboard.

  • I Love You Man!!!!

No homo, not but seriously thank you so much youve been a great help!

  • Thanks for uploading this onto youtube

  • i wanna be a beatmaker so bad cuz i dont think i cant go some where on my rap career

  • yo dude, Your video helped me out so much when i got my neko! Nuff' respect bro, really appreciate it! I just wanted to ask you: your neko set up is so hard! i just wanna know wher you got your desk from? because i need one to fit my screen on aswell and i cant any big enough...

    Holla back

    The Wizard

  • This is a very helpful video You made here, but the first 2 problems You were having are showing, that You totally forgot, that the Neko NX5 is not a typicall keyboard, but a PC with MIDI keys, some extra buttons and custom, win32 software - the button in the back doesn't turn the machine on, cause it's a PSU switch, and the VGA settings are same as in any other Windows-based PC :) But, again, very nice of You to share this info, cause not everyone has to know that :)

  • one of the best black guy on youtube

  • I love you....lol

  • Dose anybody know how to copy the sound in to Open Labs LXD.i like the sound of the roland G and Yamaha Motif XS it would be nice if i could have those sound inside the LXD.Thanks

  • its not a white line nor is it a circle it stands for "1" and "0" as in ON and OFF

  • ld just like to say thank you for that. its people like you that make YouTube such a useful resource to so many of us.

I have watched a few of your video's now and I think I will be speaking for quite a few people when I say we appreciate all the help you have given

All the best and keep up the great work.

    Scott

  • Thanks Scott. I appreciate it much. :)

  • im trying to use my vst, vsti with my FL on my miko lxd ,but it do not say open labs system do not delete, in my program files,is it diffrent than the neko?

  • If you have a MiKo LXD, then I believe these instructions should work for you. My instructions should work for all Gen5 units. The Gen4 units and below have a different file structure.

  • man thnx, this helped me alot!!

  • oh aight.. man i can't seem to get reaper but i'm going to use the hour sessions with open labs for that.. well thanks alot and keep makin awesome beats!

  • hey i just got my lx5 yesterday and its so confusin especially since i've never used any type of DAW software etc. anyways besides that where do u get your sounds and vsts besides what came with the neko

  • The NeKo comes with thousands of sounds already so I don't really need anything else. However, I did add Omnispere and Hypersonic 2.

  • great video homie. i just paid off my NeKo LX5 yesterday and waiting on it to come. Keep up the good work and that John Legend remix was fire. I'll post some vids once my board come. Peace my new NeKo brother.

  • Thanks MAJORONDABEATZ,

Congrats on your Open Labs NeKo LX-5 purchase. I am still happy as can be with mine. PEACE!!!

  • well, damn sure beats the raggety pc I use to play and try mix music lol vdj! lol vince wtg

  • Very nice tutorial for us perspective buyers Funkybeat. I'm one of the moderaters over at MVNation currently working with an MV8000 and a whole lot of other gear but thats about to change once i get my Neko XXL; Picking mines up after April. Also remember you from VSPlanet when you were rocking the VSstudio and related software. The Neko is a big departure from those days i'm sure. Anyway, thanks for sharing your 'initial' experience with the world and best of luck with your Neko and music !

  • You have a nice way of teaching stuff. Easy and straight forward. Keep up the good work man. Love from NZ. Peace

  • nice vid funky.....very informational............carnije

  • show us what you've made so far bro!

  • I can't Afford the nekoYET it is the bomb! BUT LONG LIVE THE KORG M3 LOL THE FUNK IS ON THE WAY

  • Well bring on the funk, funkbrother!!! LOL!

  • i have the motif xs and the mpc 1000 am not big on making beats on a pc but i really need to spand dont i ?

  • no not really, make it do what it do with what you have !

  • OK Vince it has been a week, what is the verdict.... Do you highly recommend this unit? I have a bit of fun money in the bank and this would def be something to look into... Let me know... Most of my gear is newish and I still have boxes for it all, so selling the old would not be a prob...

  • Hey SHWELL11,

My verdict after owning it and practically living in it for one week? It was worth EVERY penny and then some!!!! The quality of my productions have just been upgraded about 10 notches and the workflow is a joy. This piece fits with my working style perfectly.

I still don't recommend it for everyone so your mileage may vary. I need to make a video so I can explain what I mean by that.

  • what do you think let me kno plus ...... i like to dump my track sound by sound for better mixxing but how can i do it if am useing midi >?

  • This was a GREAT VIDEO V....GOOD JOB!!!

  • Isn't the built-in screen touch-sensitive? I figure that is one reason to have it on....to trigger some things with your finger. (smile) I'm a Logic Pro 8 guy...they need to make an Apple OSX Neko for me. Congrats! and I know you are loving it...

  • Yep, the built-in screen is touch sensitive. I've never been a fan of touch sensitive screens so I don't need that, but for others it can be great. I prefer doing everything with my mouse and keyboard. I work much faster that way.

Anyway, there won't be an Apple OSX NeKo because Apple has refused to open their OS source code to Open Labs. So Open Labs hands are tied when It comes to doing anything with Apple. So don't blame OL. Blame Apple. (smile)

  • Thanks man mines ariving tommrow so this will defintely help!!! Thanks!

  • Glad to hear it! Have fun and get ready for many sleepless nights. :-)

  • great

  • thanx!!

  • Paid such a great amount of money and you still have to watch booting up upside down hehe

  • i think,(if its not a bug,or something)that maybe openlabs probably have it that way so as to encourage looking at their screen other than an external one, cause, when vince turned it on first you can see it did not boot upside down.

  • yeah i noticed that too but its still funny though

  • In the other video, when I first turned it on, some parts on the keyboard screen did boot up upside down, like the dos menus. It appears the external VGA boots up in a mirror image of the keyboard screen. I really could care less though. The boot up screen is not important to me at all. lol :-)

  • I'm glad to see that you're having so much fun with it, vince!!

    much love from Amsterdam,

    max

  • looks freakin awesome man, how much you get it for?

whats the cpu and how much ram?

  • I purchased it during their "one day only" sale for $4,999.00. It is now back at the regular price which is $5,499.00. The CPU is 2.5 GHz Core2Quad™ with 4 GB RAM.
