  • Nice rig. This is what I want! What gears did you go to? I'm assuming you still have the th400? Dose it feel sluggish?

  • molested by the military??? what the hell do think we would have done? Badass truck though.

  • badass cucv! ive been on that ck trail with a stok 88 ifs chevy long bed(daily driver) and its tough. i havent been since i got a brandnew dmax and i want to get a cucv so bad. jeeps are the best but everybody has one on the off road trails. im thinkin about gettin a cucv this year. any advice?

  • do you wanna sell it???.....j/k LOL nice rig, whats your favorite wheeling area; i go out around box canyon alot and the coke ovens would have to be my favorite area in az.

  • where did you find the radio sets at? what should they cost?

  • Thank you for all the great idea's. I just got an '86 in July,, with 42k. I am looking to keep it mostly stock or invisible mods, except maybe a soft top. The only thing I have done is remove the back radio shelf so I can move the seats for my two chocolate labs to have more room and used my brothers marines & army reserve camo's for seat covers, it's hot here in N.Cal, when I wear skirts (i am a girl) legs stick otherwise. did you put AC in yours? i may have missed that in the vid. ~E

  • Did you get blocks or leafs for your rear lift?

  • fuckoff asshole

  • Did you keep the 6.2L Diesel or swap it out? If you kept it how did you improve the top speed of it or does it have a higher top speed than the military rating of 55MPH?

  • @GeistMythos the military rating is just a rating, not actual top speed. plus he installed larger tires so (unless he lowered the ring and pinion ratio) that would increase the top speed as well

  • Would you mind giving me the exact models on the comm sets and radios? I'm looking to add some to mine. Thanks!

  • good looking rig

  • I WANT THIS TRUCK....HOW MUCH???

  • nice rig

  • Is the trailer you got a m105A2 or a M101 ? I'm still working on mine I got it lifted six inches with 35x12.50's and 3.73 gears. My next plans are to set up the inside some more. Nice truck

  • very nice, do you happen to know the mpg for this vehicle? and did you touch up the paint or is that original? im looking to buy a 84 m1009 and im researching every thing before i dish out all my money hahaha. thanks

  • The paint has been redone, however to original specs. about 6 years ago. and the gas mileage about 12-15 MPG but i don't really look that much, it is used for off road and i am more concerned about the terrain than the milage. it is not a daily driver, and it is heavily loaded and more than 35 years old, what do you expect?

  • @carcedcucv and its a diesel right?

  • dorky but cool

  • @TheDuckmonk Saw your channel and you have the balls to call my rig Dorky? Kidding... hey it fits my purpose perfectly, if you think it's a little dorky then fine think that all you want, but when the shit hits the fan and i need to push and shoot my way out of town and stay where ever i land for a long time then i'm ready. I look at this truck like a loaded gun, its always got a full tank of gas it's loaded and ready for anything.

  • @carcedcucv Well of course it makes sense if you contextualize it with an imminent apocalypse...

Honestly wish my CUCV was so nice:) Minus some dorky military stuff.

  • you are driving my dream truck, that thing is incredible.

  • That's what I want. Very nice

  • Yes! If you are not worried about big power then yes, its a heavy engine, have you thought about a Mercedes diesel? When my engine gives up, I will replace it with a duramax engine. Good luck.

  • beautiful truck man, is the 6.2 relible ? i have plans to put that motor in my range rover. i spoke to some hummer guys with 6.2 they all say its a very good motor.

my truck has GEP 6.5 turbo

  • I made the winch mount, it's just 4x6 square tubing mounted to the frame d-ring mounts (used for lifting the CUCV). The winch is a Warn 9.5ti. Good luck

  • where can i get the winch&bar like that for mine?? :P

  • curious if you have any problems with the glow switches?? i am looking to buy one of these any tips? also what do you average on mileage?

  • Glow plugs? No I switched them out with the AC 60's without an issue, took them out one and at time converted the pugs to take the bigger size and did it for preventative maintenance, fires up cold better than my F-250.

  • Very nice M1009.

  • very nice truck i dont like the radios to big

  • اهنيك على كل هذي التجهيزات يمديك تروح فيه حتى المريخ تطعس ماعندك مشكله؟؟؟ ماشاء الله

  • and a snorkel and a big snorkel and a bad ass snorkel and a sexy snorkel.... yes i put plenty of mods on it... did you see the freaking snorkel...

  • beautiful M1009!!!! I bought mine in June and have since put way too much money into upgrades! I live in the Phoenix area as well and hope to see you wheeling! great slide show

  • I got a 83 blazer i will never go back to a pick up truck liked love my blazer nice vid

  • Yes I am referring to the military radios.

  • carcedcucv, I didn't dee a shot of your radios. Is their a pair on the shelf by the backseat. Or are you just referring to the com set on the dash?

  • I used to have one of these. they are awesome, almost un stoppable. Great pics, and great looking truck.

  • hey i was wondering if u could tell me what exact tire and wheel ur running?

  • how'd you get the rear driveline to go at less of an angle? mine was too steep so I got a CV driveline, got rid of about 70% of the vibration, but still needs to go straight more

  • GREAT LOOKING TRUCK.

  • That's a nice k5.

I like the trailer too,i want one of those army trailers that have the bunk beds inside to pull behind my K5 when i go camping.

  • @Mississippi1313 thats NOT a K5......thats a millitary M1009, about the only thing K5 on it is the body......they have different axles, motors, trannys, interior, etc.......

  • @cgspeeddemon1

Um yeah K5...You can get a "non M1009" with a 6.2.. It is the same truck dude..Sorry i didnt fucking say M1009..

  • @Mississippi1313 wow....my apoligies, i have never heard of being able to get the 6.2 in the K5......i also didnt know you could get the T400 in the 80's models.......around here IF there are any civilian K5's with the 6.2 they must not be for sale cause ive been looking for years for just the right blazer to make my camper and the number 1 truck comes with the 350/350 (or 700r4) and the 208 transfer case with the ten bolts at both ends

  • @cgspeeddemon1

There is actually a good bit of 6.2 civilian K5's.

I think most of them are in the north.

Google 6.2 K5 Blazer. They came in 2nd gen k5's and had the th400 option. facts is facts

  • @Mississippi1313 thats exactly how i found out.....see i live in southern az and even the truck 6.2's are very hard to find and everything ive ever heard about the K5's was the standard 5.0 or 5.7 and T350 or 700R4 tranny's and i even worked at the local checker auto for over a year.....

  • @cgspeeddemon1

Yeah i never even knew that they had 6.2's till i saw em on the internet. Never saw one in person, here in MS

  • dear lord just watching this video is making my head being swarmed by idea for m1009 im getting ready to go by

  • I love it man. I have always wanted to build something like this.

  • this is the sickest m1009 ive seen yet. i want one so and i got alot of great ideas of my own but now im gonna steal some of urs ;) they are hard to find here in canada and if there was one it would be rusted out! but im gonna keep a eye out for one. great job on the truck and the videos keep making more. thanx

  • Dude I absolutely love this truck, you did a great job! Im actually going tomorrow to look at a stock one, used by the army! They want $4000, so im sayin goodbye to my 95 ford f-150, and hello to my bad ass blazer!

  • I have always wanted one of these, had lots of jimmys and blazers but want one of these. Nice truck. Quick question what did GM put in these for axles?

  • love those trucks I have had a chance to buy one I wanted it but the closest place that sells diesel around me is a meijer about 20 minutes away and I thought that might be an annoyance

  • I bought one from the same guy . He owns some bomb shit. Mine was a MP rig

  • how much did the upgrades cost?

  • its true what they say u dont have to work on it to own it. you just pay some one else, claim the work and then try to sound smart. ps its a hood.

  • You should list your mods in the description if you can. Also, what kind of mileage do you get?

  • Is that a m101A1 or M416 Trailer?

  • @TheUlfhedinn M101a1, good eye!

  • pretty nice man. like how it set up man. good trail rig and camper and fishing truck. IM DIFF DIGGIN IT BRO. CHECK OU MY CRUSHER.

  • badass blazer

  • Dude, if shit ever hit the fan you would be ridiculously prepared

  • a turbo kit would be good on yoour diesel engine if you dont have one already it ads some horse power and miles per gallon and costs about 2600 bucks

  • @speelburg13 6.5L manifolds bolts right up ;p

  • @speelburg13

Yea turbo is not too hard to install on these definitely affordable as well, however with the older diesels you also need to reinforce the connecting rods cause adding a turbo to an older diesel not able to handle the extra torque and RPM will cause them to snap. I wanted to add one to mine, however this is the deterring factor i ran into.

  • where did you get your snorkel /air cleaner from and how much do you think it would cost . i recently got one from goverment liquidators

  • where did u get your snorkel from?

  • Nice truck

  • I like your CUCV Blazer! I have one myself and love it. Mine has 96000 original miles and the only things I have replaced are the fuel pump and injector pump. The blazer rocks off road and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Where did you find all of your radios and the solar panel? I would be interested in adding that to mine as well! NIce K5!!

  • WHY DONT U RUN A SOLAR POWERED hydrogen cell?

whats the com for? surely its not that loud?!

  • @tpvalley Yea, it is pretty loud when your bombing down the road at 60mph with the windows open, (it's a nice break on the ears) plus i can pipe-in my music.

You hook up a solar hydrogen cell first, then let me know how you like it. Think i'll stick with what i know. Was thinking of installing a jet engine?

  • @carcedcucv

I mean one of those simple water cells with simple + and - from solar cell, use hydrogen as an extra power source by running it into engine, it makes diesels run quite well but dont believe anyone that tells u that u can generate hydrogen from engine electrics and save fuel.

  • @tpvalley run a what?!?!?

  • @speelburg13

someone mentioned hydrogen cells powered off engine electrics to save fuel which doesnt work as the energy needed to split water is more than can be gained from the hydrogen produced soI suggested a solar cell.

  • very nice truck man. I'm in the process of buying one!

  • Nice of you to comment apacheskull however i never intended comparing my blazer to anyone elses. I have been in many military shows and it was their disceiption of it, not mine. Relax!

  • Welcome to the Chevy world! This is a nice entry level blazer, I wouldn't designate it a true bad ass yet. 6.2's,np208's,Corporates, is far from bad-ass, I didn't even see a roll cage. Heck, a stock 70's blazer with a small block 350/sm465/205 combo/ dana44/12bolt/ with a rear roll bar is more of a "bad ass".

  • thats nice i got a 84 mod i plan on giveing to my lil bro for school the truck is solid like the maods you have on that one the one i have is fac

  • speelburg13 said exactly what i was thinking!very cool!

  • put the banks turbo on then it will be the best m1009 in america

  • @4wheelers10 I thought about putting the banks turbo on it, but most people tell me that since it's a earlier version of the 6.2L it won't handle the extra horsepower, thanks for the comment. It has aftermarket injectors and a that snorkel acts like a cold air intake so it actually makes pretty good power.

  • this thing is awesome! this is exactly what i want. I am very jealous.

  • So you fabricated the snorkel? The entire vehicle is awesome, you did a tremendous job. I'm keeping your video tabbed to get ideas for my own CUCV. I drove one throughout Saudi/Kuwait and up to Basra in 1991 and medically retired after 27 years. I love my new ugly truck.

  • Some buddies and I have been looking to purchase a few of these for hunting and camping. This video will make all of us want to purchase one for sure. Two of us want the M1009 and another wants the M1008. We have been talking about it for a couple of weeks and have been looking. Thanks for the great video. I may try to pick your brain some more in the future.

    Marshall

  • what is the most you've pulled with this? I'm thinking of gettin one of these things.

  • @TheIndianaKidd Not sure of the weight I've pulled but it has a matching trailer it think it's a 1/2 ton A101 and will easily pull that with a loaded full size Quad in it. Up all the hills in Arizona.

  • Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very nice

  • Beautiful blazer! I always liked the 6.2 Detroit diesel, did it come with a turbo-400 tranny? I'm thinking about getting a CUCV and swapping in a 4 or 5-speed manual.

  • @mightyjoelaith Yes I think it is he turbo 400' I enjoy the automatic, good luck!

  • hey have you ran her on stright cooking oil or bio diesel yet?

  • @doldford345 Have had biodeisel in it, runs great, the biodeisel station is not convienant for regular fill ups.

  • @carcedcucv lol, make ur own, i do

  • Exactly what a truck should be, thanks for showing.

  • great truck, I love it, the camo paint is exellent.

  • what gears are you running?

  • Thanks for that great video! If you have not already joined you should come to steelsoldiers.xxxcom we would love to talk to you about your CUCV.

  • thats a really great truck. My dad has an 85 M1009 thats been in the family as long as I have. Together we built a 468 big block chevy for it (I remember bolting on the heads when I was 8) then lifted it 6 inches, and put 1 ton axels from another military truck and 38 inch tires.

Its the biggest, ugliest, dented, missmatching body panneld, loudest thing in town but I love it!!

  • What about the c-clip axles? I've seen axles come out driving down the road.

  • wow, that is a very purpose built cucv. GREAT JOB!!!!

  • what kind of solar panel did you use for this? what amperage and voltage? how did you wire it? what kinds of converters or resistors were needed if any? any info on the solar panel system would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

  • @zztops08 go to sensei solar.com and just pick the package that works for you, that's what i did.

  • cool slideshow and narration, love these trucks, you have a beauty. That solar panel really helps out, I know.

  • :19 the winch ur never going to use

  • @alanack67 Oh I have used it, mostly to pull others out!

  • What sort of radios do you have it it?

  • @WILCOX11B All military issued and they all work, the models, not sure of them, sorry, if there are guys that know more about them please post.

  • Hello can you tell what kind and size of wheels and tires... I love this truck !! absolutely one of a kind !

  • Nice M1009. I have an '85 M1009 with alot of the same mods. I fabbed a snorkel as well with a John Deere precleaner. Only running 33's with a 2" lift right now but I have plans for more suspension upgrades later. Just picked up a York compressor for onboard air. I have the whips but no radio...yet.

Very cool rig and well taken care of. If ever on Steel Soldiers, Check mine out @ CDN-CUCV

  • did you extend the axle breather's too?

  • oh yeah, i ran them about 3 feet longer.

  • beautiful truck

  • what is the stick welding set up you had in it whats the name of the unit

  • it's a homemade set up off of the three batteries.

  • how did you ford with water over the hood and NOT clog the exhaust?

  • kept my foot on the gas!

  • wow this makes me want to get a m1009 thats awesome

  • nice rig man. i was thinkin of doing something similar. about how much start to finish was the entire rig?

  • probably have about 9,000 into it total

  • Do you have it set up to run the radios through the comm set?

  • yes and the sirius radio

  • haha badass!

  • Im not sure about the m1009 but i have a m1008 and a banks sidewinder turbo. So just saying if your interested in getting a little more ponys out of your 6.2 the sidewinder is awesome.

  • no this engine is very reliable the way it is, i was told that they didn't cylinder walls are not thick enough for the turbo, that happened in the later years.

  • i might pick one up its an 86 CUCV 6.2 with like 89k miles on it all black hope i can get it.

  • Verry nice slideshow men

love it great truck is it

    Greetz Chevy

  • Thanks, your right it is a great truck. looking to get out this weekend, i'll keep adding more videos

  • How do they start in the cold. We are in Canada looking at one

  • well as long as all the glow plugs are working, pretty good! i used to live in Edmonton and know just how cold things can get. with the combination of the diesel gas, the age of the truck and the weak 24volt starters on these trucks... well good luck!

  • hey bud are you member on SS. if so there are guys looking for you wanting to rack your brain on somethings you done to your rig. send me a private message if you dont know the site and ill tell you there. joe
