@verve92 I used a few presets... I think it was low string and one of the human voice emulations. I rolled the brightness back a bit. The lead is my own patch. This thing can really do some excellent monosynth leads as well!
You did a fabulous job, this reminds me of The Prophecy Theme by Brian Eno off the Dune soundtrack.
What makes this track awesome is not so much the synth, but the arrangement and recording. It doesn't hurt that the Alpha Juno was used, but it could have been done with a similar level of success with any other synth.
I own two MKS-50s, love them to death because of the PWM Sawtooth waveform.
Hey man brilliant. After 20 years of guitar I am just entering the world of synth. It's amazing how synth requires so little skill. I have a Roland Gaia sh01 and just found an Alpha Juno 1 for $150 stored in box in some lady's attic for 20 years! works great looks new. A pain to program but will get a Behringer BCR2000 soon. The skill in synth is in sound design. Are you available for questions? You seem to have a grip.
@verve92 Well if your Juno is a pain to program then I suppose synths DO impose a certain challenge and that a certain degree og skill is imperative. PM if you have any questions ;-)
Beautiful wee track. I've had one since the late 80's and still love playing with it. It's just so adaptable and it's incredibly easy to alter the sound on the fly. Which makes it hard to repeat things sometimes! I remember playing it when I first got it, when I was around 18. I would look back at all those Moog wizards and the early 80's guys and feel like Buck Rogers!
Great sounding track! I've got an MKS-50, and I've got to say, it's probably the best sounding "cheap" synth I've played. The only real gripe I have is the way the patches are laid out, but I know they had to do it that way to save space on the front panel.
@phk70 Yes, it seems solid and well built. I think I'll buy another few of these to keep as backups. Definately a keeper this one. Can't believe how much time and money I've wasted on inferior instruments costing four times as much as this one...
@JampyKeys Hey, honestly, this was done in four improvised first takes with no preparation... But thanks! I try my best, and comments like yours are an inspiration. :-)
really great man

@Dovinia What preset did you start with? "Low/ High String" with shortcut keys? Or did you dissect a patch and start from scratch?

Very nice work. I have one of these babies -one of my favorite synth for years...
I've had 3 Juno 1's and a single 2 through the last 14 years, but my last Juno 1 is a keeper. Also it's a extremely stable synth -no problems at all.
