  • bonjour remy! merci for doing all of these... Totally helps a lot of people.. J'habite aux Philipien....

  • Hello Remy,

Just wanted to leave a quick note saying how much I enjoy these helpful videos. I have recently moved to Trois Rivieres, Quebec, and with the help of your videos I am finding the transition considerably less turbulant. I didn't speak a word of french two weeks ago, and I'm now fairly confident ordering myself food, or going into a store where nobody speaks english.

All of that to say: Please continue to make these videos! Your hard work does not go unappreciated!

  • @TiMaY1234

I am glad I was able to facilitate your transition.

A student of mine stayed a few weeks in Trois Rivières last summer and rather enjoyed himself. He was there studying French at the university in a total immersion program.

Good luck to you and let me know of your progress.

    Rémy

  • I love you remi

  • I suggest you take this Leçon with a guitar in your lap. Beacuse it`s so fun to jam wth the music at the end..

  • Lol ps, love the 80s music at the end LOL Groovy!

  • LOL i am completely the oppossite from being homosexual but i just "adore" the way this guy teaches french, i wanna spend more time with him learning french than i do with my girlfriend. LOL Love from the UK Jremy

  • ah man, i wish i could just download all this into my brain, why does it have to take 10 years to learn it?

  • i have a doubt remy, if i say J`habite why can`t i say T`habite or ell`habites, because those pronouns end in a vocal.

    francis from venezuela

  • @francistower83 Well orally we french people use t'habites but its not gramatically correct. I wanted to note out that "in" and "un" aren't exactly the same sound because "un" is more open than the other. En tout cas de très belle leçon en général.

  • i have a doubt remy, if i say J`habite why can`t i say T`habite or ell`habites, because those pronouns end in a vocal.

    francis from venezuela

  • how long did it take you to learn english? how long will it take me to learn french?

  • 10 years or so...

  • @jremy7

10 years! lol I hope not

  • @FuriousPixel Well, I speak english since like 7 years and it's still not perfect so yeah 10 years is a good estimate.

  • all depends on how much you practice

  • isn't it: je dÉteste, tu dÉtestes....etc?

  • was that you in the background with a cap?, i know in the end of the video the video of your face and that of the background didnt end the same time :))

  • Bonjour remy

  • present isn't what's happening now. That would be present continous... such as i am sitting..

I sit. is a fact, simple present is facts and routines.. like I sit every day.

    Is that different in french?

  • can yuo explain me how is quebec and how much is tha salary there please please

  • lol, BOOZE

  • wait so how come it's j'adore instead of je adore..

    plz reply back

    thanks!

  • hahah is he ur twin?

  • Can I say "J'dor"?

  • Nope.

  • can I say J'ebaku leśny?

  • @WASUP792 Yes of course you can say it but you can't write it of course. French is a very academic language and speaking it the way it should be would make the language die, just like latin. Alot of vowels are cut in the oral french. J'dors, J'suis. A good exemple is Cela fait que, would become ''Faque''. But be careful with those because they are often geographically different. Its important to be able to speak a good international french not filled with specificities of a certain region.

  • Lol I love the guy behind you.

  • While you were talking about the "adore" thingy, somebody passed by behind :P <3

  • Salut Remy,

    Comment allez vous?

    Je suis brazilian.

    Où vouz habitez?

I want to immigrate to Québec, Canada.

With your lessons, I'm learning French and English at the same time.

    MERCI BEAUCOP.

By the way, you're so funny!! =)

  • salut, c'est moi Xavier a Taiwan.

i have started learning French with your video. They are fantastic and I like your friendly tone....

I do study also by myself. So, I have questions.

C'est la sensation douloureau"se". = Il fait sensation douloureause. ??

    and why douloureau"se"?

    can I say "douloureause sensation"?

still hace some questions,I woud ask u step by step.

  • Excellente leçon, comme toutes les autres !

Cependant, quelque chose me chagrine : les accents ne figurent sur aucun mot lorsque cela s'avèrerait nécessaire. J'imagine que cela fera l'objet d'une autre leçon, que je n'ai peut-être pas encore vue !

  • Vous avez raison quant aux accents. J'ai tendance à les oublier. Ils sont plus difficiles à faire sur un clavier QWERY. J'essaierai de faire plus attention dans le futur. :)

  • Your so cool!!!!! the best. How do you say South-African and South Africa in french?

  • L'Afrique du Sud = South Africa

    Sud-africain = South African

    Sud-africaine = South African (for a woman)

  • Thanks! :) who is that guy behind you?

  • Saludos desde Puerto Rico. Me encantan las leccciones. Je suis une femme qui adore votre lecons. (?)

I took French in high school many years ago and had forgotten most of it. Thanks.

  • Je adore tu es progrmme......

  • You meant to say:

    "J'adore ton programme"

    or

    "J'adore tes vidéos"

  • These videos are brilliant. I took 5 years of Spanish in high school so I know what it's like to learn a language in a classroom setting. This method make so much more sense. You really need to Copyright these and sell them.

  • Thank you for your input. I appreciate the comment.

  • Two weeks ago started to study french, my teacher is great, he's french and he doesn't speak a word in spanish, just french, and it's difficult to catch everything on class, since I discovered you I understand more!!!besides I can practice my english with you , so for me works 2X1 ENGLISH AND FRENCH, !!!thanks for your help.

  • thank you so much Remy!

I learn french in highschool and you give me a major edge over the class!

Whenever I have to study for a test, I watch your videos, much more fun and much faster than repeating words mindlessly

  • I'm glad I can be of assistance. Thank you very much for your comment :)

  • Hello Remy! Thanks for these great videos. I like your use of mnemonic devices that you use, like the gear shifter to explain verbs. Keep up the good work, I am learning lots about the French language from you. You make learning fun!

  • Thanks you're very kind and I do appreciate your comments :)

  • Hello Remy!

I was born and raised in Brazil. When I was 11 I took 2 years of French. I am 50 now, so I have forgotten. After a serious illness where I stayed home, I decided to learn French online.

I am a public school teacher in the USA (ESE) and must tell you that you are a FANTASTIC TEACHER! It is an art. It is a gift. You make everything easy! Be blessed.

  • I am very touched by your compliment.

    Thank you.

  • i love your videos!

im quite confused with 'neutral' and 'infinitive' though.

    ps: you brother is funny!

    J'habite a Melbourne, Australie.

Comment ca va. Ca va bien merci.

    Svp Remy, fin les portes!

(I am actually what you would call a mature aged student, but I have an ambition to learn both conversational French and German before I die... Your videos are very helpful for the French part of that, I just wish there was something as helpful on Youtube for German!)

    Cheers from the Antipodies.

  • Hi,Remy.I'm from Brazil.Your classes are helping me a lot.Thank you very much for teaching us.I learned Spanish and Italian. Both are similar to Portuguese.Unfortunately, French is much harder. Why don't they create a word for 70, 80...instead of saying sixty ten or four twenties?Just kidding.Keep on doing your great job.

  • Remy....

The lessons are great, but if I may say..... you have a fantastic sense of humor!!! Thank you for teaching me french and for making me laugh. 8 - D

  • Well, if you're learning and laughing then I might be doing something right then :)

    Glad you enjoy the lessons.

  • Hi Remy,

Thank you very much for your fantastic lessons! I really enjoy learning this beautiful language with your videos...

    Au revoir.

  • your face is full of character with those glasses and no hair like artists or designers.

  • your head/glasses at the left are sometimes transparent.... by the closet :P

    good lessons btw ;)

  • very good remy.muchas gracias amigo.

i understand and speak like 2% french thanks to you.

  • hey guy with hat was great

  • the guy with the hat makes a good commercial break :D

  • The guy with the hat who walked passed behind you freaked me out! It freaked me out, it was like one of those horror movies when a ghost just passes by and only the audience is aware of it. It freaked me out!

  • Didn't mean to freak you out. Just keep your attention :)

  • Il est Remy aussi! Ca va?

  • Remi you rock!!!

  • wow Remy, u make it really easy to learn french. I have tried and stopped atleast six times in the past. With ur lesson, I don't want to stop. Thank you!!!!!!!

  • good!

  • How do you say zero in french?

  • Zero :)

  • English: Zero. Spanish: Cero. French: Zero??!! This is getting sorta weird now.

  • comment dit-on zéro en français??

  • zéro nous utilisons le même mot

le même mot= the same word

    utiliser= tu use

    nous= we

  • "To Discard" == English("To Can")

    :-)

  • The lessons are getting tougher and tougher. It's not difficult to remember the meaning of words, but what's hard is putting them together with the right thought and grammar.

  • Can you help me with one thing..

If I want to say "How long will you stay in ECT"

    Thnak you!!!

    I loe your work Remy!

  • "Combien de temps resterez vous en ECT?"

    or

"Combien de temps allez vous rester en ECT?"

[NB. I don't know what ECT stands for so I had to use "en" which could be incorrect]

  • salut. mon nom est patrick et je suis un étudiant au collège de Piedra Vista à New Mexico, umm ya. je me demandais juste si vous avez des vidéos plus avancées ?

  • I guess Remy has an untheatrical French accent. Not everyone is Maurice Chevalyet. Are americans fooled by him? Is he really from Kentucky or somewhere? hee ha. Remy is one of Great Generous Vibes. Merci each and every day.

    David on Gulf Coast Florida

  • hey who was that guy!! :-/

  • remy muchas gracias por tus lecciones heres un exelente profesor

  • ok, i know you enjoy all the theatrics of doing an elaborate opening with editing and graphics, but just get to the lessons.

  • can is not a verb...it is a modal auxiliary verb...so has no infinitive for this reason..the function of a MODal auxiliary is to MODify the meaning of the verb..I go (CERTAIN), I CAN go, I MIGHT go, I SHOULD go, I WOULD go, etc...

  • I stand corrected.

  • you are an excellent teacher and I thank you for your wonderful lessons...we have all grown to love you very much...you are an extremely nice person...thank you for all the time you put into your lessons

  • But in french Can is a verb, the verb Pouvoir, not a modal.

Je peux, tu peux, il peut, etc

We can put it to an another tense like futur

Je pourra, Tu pourras, etc, or in past(passé composé in french)

J'ai pu, tu as pu etc.

  • Salut Remy! I have a question. When you make the conjugation of the verb for the first person "Je" the pronunciation of the last letter "e" is not sound? is mean the pronunciation of "manger" and "mange" is not the same? Thank you in advanced.

    ahhh.! Qui est-ce?

  • I'm not Rémy but I'm from Québec, so a know the french skeaping.

The pronunciation of «manger» and «mange» is not the same. In french, the verb conjugated(i don't know if it's a real word in english) has its own pronunciation. «ger» is pronunce like «gé» and «ge» like «je». It's really hard to explain, 'cause there are many groups of verb and exception in french.

Ps: the « » have the same fonction as '' '', because in french, we use « » !!!

  • these lessons are amazing! on lesson one, i didn't speak any french and only knew the basics (bonjour, merci, au revoir) but now after lesson 12 i can count, start a conversation, state where i am from, state my nationality, etc. It is so great, Remy! Merci!

  • Exactly what I'm trying to accomplish!

    Thanks for you comment.

  • Come on, you have THE perfect french accent!

    I'm french and I'm totally gob-snaked!

Keep going, these are really good lessons!

  • YOU ARE SUCH A GREAT TEACHER!

  • dear remy what a joy to discover you again i haven't seen you since lesson ten.you are great and i will start seeing your videos again. i've been in an italian mode lately. listen to rosetta stone through our public library online. great but it expired. it's great alot come back to me when i saw this video. you are a great teacher. Your voice is calming and soothing and you can't help but pay attention and learn. so thanks very much. Victoriana

  • Damn an English person with a perfect French accent !! Is that fiction ? O.o !! :P

  • Can, by the way in English is a modal verb. Along with must, should, ought, might etc. they adjust the meaning of the main verb in a sentance.

  • I like how that random guy (that looks like you) popped up! XD

  • J'adore ces leçons

  • Merci pour ton commentaire et merci pour ton abonnement :)

  • remy thx 4 all ur help on french, i love ur vids but can u make a little tutorial for the word because, but, and.

  • hello remy,

i just watched all of your videos, and wow! you are doing a really great job! Everything you say makes sense and really sticks, I can't wait to see the upcoming lessons. I have always wanted to learn french so thank for everything you are doing for us. Please keep it up your are awesome and very funny.

    aziza

  • what she said. :)

  • Salut Remy! I'm Albert! I live in Texas and I finally managed to finish watching what you've posted so far. You're an awesome teacher and I hope you continue making these videos. I also have a few questions I would like to ask you. Maybe if you had an MSN MSG or an AIM account it could make things easier.

    Merci Remy!

  • Jremy.....i love your lessons and from the video, it looks like you've got a ghost in your home..LOL! Thank you. Av revouir!

  • hello brother jermy7,,i injoy larning french with u,,u are great man,u are very helpfull, thank u very much,,,my qeustion is where is lecon 13,wating ur answer thanks

  • Lesson 13 is in my head. It's just a matter of putting it to video which should happen sooner rather than later :-)

  • As a speaker of Spanish and English, it is always funny to me to see how French seems to be combination of the grammar and Latin roots of Spanish (them both being Romance languages) and the wordstock and vocabulary of English (of which we owe the Normans for). Next year I'll be taking French courses as well as advanced Spanish courses at my school... your lessons are so great and are prepping me for what is to come.

    merci beaucoup!

  • I also like to see the many similarities between those three languages.

    Thanks for your comments.

  • You made me hate similarities because of that video, a word mange is pronounced as mąż which means husband in Polish, great ;).Maybe if I were a girl it'd be helpful ;)

Anyway, yours gear shift idea was great

    Regards

  • Salut Rémy!

Im living in India and I have french as a foreign language in college and yr videos are really helping!!

    merci beaucoup

  • I'm glad I can be of help :-)

  • Dear Remy,

Thanks a lot for your lessons. You are a great teacher.

    Terima kasih banyak-banyak..merci beaucoup.

  • Thanks Nita! :-)

I'm studying french has only a week or two, and I discovered your videos. They helped a lot, and now I'm able to form phrases :)

Thank U so much, and I'm anxious for your next video. If there is any incorrect word in my text please correct me s'il vous plâit, ok?

    Merci pour tes "videos".

    Um abraço,

    Camila

  • Thanks for your lessons remy, they´ve been very helpful, I´m learning a lot, I don´t have formal classes yet but I already know a bunch of things thanks to you.

Since I´m a spanish native speaker I practice 2 languages at a time with your lessons!

I´m patiently awaiting the next video :)

  • je parle français depuis ma naissance ok!

  • you pointed out one of the biggest problem of french youngsters. They're so used to int
