  • @stevanz1 Ur RAM and Motherboard don't match up. U might have the socket right, but the ram you're buying is triple channel, which means your motherboard should support up to 6 ram slots, which it doesn't (it's dual channel). not only that, but 12 GB is WAAAAAAY too much anyway for the games you'll probably want to be playing on your pc. I get the concept of futureproofing you might have, but since your motherboard can't run that type of RAM anyway, I suggest the Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (2x4GB).

  • Nigleywigley, if ur only using 1 graphics card, you should be fine with an 800 watt, but if u plan on doing sli/crossfire(multiple graphics cards) I would recommend at least 1000 watts. Hope this helped and btw, get the gtx 580 :P

  • the best deals aren't in some websites but in china...then you can get awesome deals

  • Everyone who is complaining: Knowing where to buy parts is part of knowing how to build a computer. That's what this particular video is about.

  • here's some more tips: buy from well known manufacturers and get retail instead of oem, for quality. Also, when buying online (or mail order), be aware a component could get damaged while being shipped, so there is a reason for getting some components from a store. Try to use components from your old pc if you don't need new ones, to cut costs.

  • dude the name of your vid is "How to Build a Custom PC Computer : Buying Parts Needed to Build a PC Computer" ---NOT deals and shit

  • wot! i can get a amd dual core 2.6 the motherboard and an atx supply for 90 pounds

  • which isnt a good system

  • same

  • So can someone summeraise for me what parts i need for a gaming rig?

  • you will want all the same things, but make sure that you don't have built in graphics with the mother board so you can get some beast graphics cards. but except that, make sure all the components are high end and fast

  • You will need: A CPU A motherboard compatible with that CPU Some RAM, at least 2Gb A hard disk drive A graphics card, or two A power supply capable of powering it all A case An OS If you plan on overclocking it, you'll need some cooling too. This is the very minimum for a gaming rig.
  • @chewbaccasdad. thanks man. got any good recommendations of were i can get this stuff

  • Oh, you'll need a CD/DVD drive too.

  • Fast cpu, 2.8Ghz minumum,

A good montherboard that can support DDR2 or better, one or more pci express slots.

Fast GPU, ATI RADEON HD3870 prob minimum. Good gaming case (good cooling) Antec 900 would be good. A power supply 650W+ DVD reader.... and some obvious stuff dat i dont need to say

  • firefox is ugly

  • This is:

"Buying Parts Needed to Build a PC Computer"

  • fuck off

  • dude u need to tea not advertise

  • he is recommending, not advertising

  • he is advertising i use 2 sites newegg and tigerdirect

and he nvr even talked about buildin fail

  • tigerdirect the best and Logan rocks

  • lol

I've been trying to tell my mother that the best place to get these components are online. I'd rather get the components at a good low price and wait a few days to get 'em, rather than get everything at, say, MicroCenter and have to pay nearly 25%-40% more than I would get online.

  • I have some questions, if I get the Coolermaster Gemini 2, along with 2 120mm fans, and say for example that those fans only have molex connectors (no 4 pin connection), can I still turn on and boot up my computer even though there is no 4 pin header connected to the CPU_FAN connector on the motherboard? If not, is there a way around it? If I have to put a 4-pin in there, can I tweak the fan speed(s) in the BIOS? If so, how? I know watecoolers have to do this, so any tips would be great!

  • Your motherboard has a place to plug in the fan, it's usually above the ram. I'm pretty sure a molex is a 4 pin connector. :)

  • I understand that, but my slight concern is that the fans Im planning to get for my CPU cooler do not have a 4-pin conector like a stock intel cooler has, instead it has a 3-pin connector and a molex connector that hooks up to the power supply. The 3-pin is to be hooked up to a control panel to manually control the fan speed. My question really is this: is it truly necessary to have a 4-pin fan connected to the CPU_FAN in order for the motherboard to boot up? Or can it boot without it?

  • A 3 pin connector fits into a 4 pin slot. The fourth wire is for speed control based on temperature. Some fans like Yate Loons include both a 3 pin connector and a molex just because of compatability but you should't plug them both in.

What heatsink and fan are you planning on getting?

  • I am planning to get a Coolermaster GeminII heatsink along with 2 silverstone 120mm fans...check on newegg for details.

  • That will work fine, the GeminII is good because it cools the chipset at the same time. :)

  • dude...you've made 76k videos on youtub???!!! thats nuts!!

  • He is a youtube partner. That means he's getting a better deal.

  • haha thats great..."and yes, I did get the rebate"

  • I did not even bother buying windows, just download linux burn it to a disk and install FREE!

  • misconception about Linux!

just so everyone knows, its not "free". Its open source

  • Linux is no good if you intend to play high-end games, or use popular programs like Photoshop CS3 and the such..and for beginners, you probably wouldn't even be able to get on the internet, which is a must if you intend to use Linux as it is all coded and updated by independent companies, or online open source modding communities, they will be the only people who can help you with problems with certain distribution's.

  • You can still use those programs but you would need an emulator you might have to pay thou

And any good Linix Distro should have internet installed!

  • I really need help buying a PC, i got one custom made before, from ordering from newegg, i ordered it piece by piece, and i had a friend put it together for me cause i know nothing about them, and he never put a heat "sink" fan in on the processer, now that i did get one after going through hell to figure out theat i needed one, now my comp. keeps reseting itself on its own, so my gf wants to just go buy a new one from best buy, what should i do to not get ripped off by a retail store INEEDHELP

  • well unfortunately your friend is a fool for not putting a heat sink on your cpu. you might consider craigslist if you live near a metro area...lots of people dont like their desktop pcs and get rid of them on there, then you could upgrade invidual parts..like the gpu etc..

  • take a clear picture of the inside of your computer and i'll tell you what your missing... and, if you knew what you bought, please send me a listing as well. like for example:

    Abit AW9D-MAX MB

    Intel Pentium 4 3.00GHz Socket 775 CPU

    2Gb Dual-Channel RAM

    GeForce 8800GTS 326Mb RAM GC

    300Gb SATA HD

    500 Watt PS

    RealTech 7.1 SC

  • heck yeah firefox FTW or use torrnet for operating system

  • Fry's had an excellent price on the motherboard I bought recently, so it isn't necessarily true that main parts are always expensive in retail.
