they just dropped a bomb on more than a 100 000 people, doing a little sightseeing, and you people call the japanese horrible.. this is sad... almost makes you wanna think that america deserves to get bombed too..
It's easy to tell that you're just making broad accusations because you're not very well informed on the issues that you're describing. Indeed America has committed war crimes, as has any other nation in any war which has ever taken place.
For you to say that America deserves to be bombed is quite frankly ridiculous, not to mention it brings your sense of morals into question. If you praise the lives of the 100, 000 people who died, then you shouldn't wish that fate upon others.
um, seeing how as the fact if they hadn't droped the bomb then they would have let the war get way out of hand, it actually makes the americans look like the good guys. (U.S ARMY)
@86Blunthead Saying that anyone deserves to be bombed because of the now increasingly distant past show that you've learned nothing from WWII. It's scary that people could wish this on anyone after watching the video.
what u think the americans didn't or don't commit warcrimes? gimme a break, they're just too dirty to openly come out for it, lying bunch of fucking nazi's, sickening
fucking americans think they change the whole world for the better, bunch of lying cocky meddling so called patriots, typical western behaviour, atleast the japs got honor..
To clarify, the trinity test, the first atomic bomb, was developed in White Sands New Mexico, near El Paso Tx. It was not perfomed in Nevada as the journeyman claims.
the Japanese army was so brutal, it made the nazi party look like saints. the american army knew this very well after the infamous island hopping campaign, unfortunately japan said they would only surrender if they would not be prosecuted or even say sorry for there war crimes and we accepted...thats the real crime
The exact same japan we have today(I really don't know what you're trying to say). Peaceful and economically sound, thanx to America, and boy did red china suffer during the invasion of china in ww2, 230 thousand plus dead civilians women children and men in less than 3 months. Japan got mercy compared to what they did in the big war. I'm not taking a political side I'm just talking facts.
That is bullshit; there were War Crimes Trials for Japanese War Criminals as well as SOME of the Nazi; many Nazi scientists and intelligence operatives were taken out of Germany to work for the US--perhaps you have heard of Werner Von Braun? Like the 200,000 people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki most of whom where civilians had anything to do with Japanese war crimes. It is not "blame America first" you twits blame America never.
Name ONE japanese solider or officer that was ever convicted of a war crime just one. Facts are facts this was in the policy of surrender no apologies or prosecution for war crimes. The Japanese army were the biggest monsters of all, during WW2. What they did to civilians and prisoners of war was unbelievable. And when you say some nazi's were tried and convicted your way off. I'll name way more Nazi's that were hung after the war for war crimes , than you can with japanese.
@highjinxwillie62: Well, but then again, TBH, the Japanese didn't imprison and then off{y'know, deep sixed? Murdered?} up to 6 million Jews and millions of others{I've heard that as many as 3 million Poles died as well, IIRC}, just because they weren't part of a 'master race'.
You should do more homework on WW2 sure the germans thought they were the master race but the japanese thought they were the divine race and planed to exterminate all other races. And the americans killed more innocent german civilians by bombing Germany then both atomic bombs did in japan.
@Highjinxwillie62: Dresden was a tragedy, yes, and I think it probably wasn't needed.
"..........but the japanese thought they were the divine race and planed to exterminate all other races."
What they believed was basically the same thing..............and if you didn't know, the Germans had plans to do away with up to 50 million more people, and enslave as many, had they won the war. But we don't get told about that; the Holocaust is as far as most will be willing to go, apparently.
A Democrat ordered those bombs be dropped, don't forget that part. We know we would have been hearing a whole lot of that talk if a Republican had done it. Still it saved American lives there was estimated that one million US soldiers would have died invading Japan and if you look at what they still had available in weapons that may have been true. Plus, they sneak attacked us, you reap what you sow especially against the ole USA. Japan lost 250,000 with the bombs vs ? if no bombs, a lot more.
They killed people enlisted in our armed forces with their attack. We killed innocent people, nearly all innocent people. Men, women, children. Not to say the bomb didn't save American lives, and perhaps more lives than it took, but that doesn't make the murder of innocent people right.
Innocent is a relative term. If people in the armed forces die, is it sad? Of course. Were those people innocent? Probably. But they were enlisted in the armed forces and expected to be engaged in combat. Maybe it is a matter of opinion, but I feel like harming your enemy's military personnel in wartime is completely different from wiping out their civilians.
That is war. IF Japan had gotten to your american ass then they would have made mass civilian casualties. But that is war.I cant se how so many people are such pussies these days crying ans whining about peace. fuck that i say. war is another way of thining out this world demolishing OVER populated earth we have.i dont have the right to say who lives or dies but if the largest 5 countries were decimated to 150,000 people then the earth wouldnt be in so much danger. Dont hate me for my word.
the invention of the atomic bomb was crucial for our future. wars will continue butif anyone decided to use a nuke now they have just signed their life and the rest of the world away. if there was a world war 3 then it would be the equivilant to a worrldwide chernobyl incident. we shouldnt look at World war 2 for a mistake in the nuclear department we should look at Chernobyl. 60% of Ukraine is contaminated from one blast which is like 3 A bombs going off in one area.
Not to mention that there are 100kgs of plutonium inside the sarcouphagus around the reactor which means that if It collapses(which it is soon due to because it was only built to last for 30 years)then 100 million people could be poisond and there will be areas that will not be able to support life for thousands of years.
Secretary of War Stimson's report estimated 5-10 million Japanese fatalities for an invasion of Japan, plus 400,000 to 800,000 US fatalities. Now about 180,000 died in the two atomic blasts combined, with 0 US casualties. If you can't admit that this was the humane and responsible alternative, then you're an idealist which is great, but don't be too hard on the folks who are in touch with a harsh reality and are making the tough decisions you could never, or would never, make.
Stimson's report drastically over-exaggerated those numbers. As he later admitted real estimates of U.S. casualties were around 20,000 and Japanese casualties far less than those mentioned. Nonetheless, a decision did have to be made but nothing about a wartime decision, which would involve the loss of thousands of lives, can be called "humane." Both dropping the bomb and invasion would have led to many civilian deaths and present the sad predicaments of war.
While an invasion on Japan would have cost many lives, Japan in 1944 knew that it could not ultimately win the war, and had began contacting Washington regarding a surrender. Truman proceeded with the drop in order to scare the Soviet Union, and assert that the US intended to dominate the post-war rebuilding. In doing so, the US opened a pandora's box of horror that has dominated foreign policy ever since, and making the US the most hypocritical nation in history.
You talk as if all the way victims are responsible for the 9/11 and Pearl Harbor event. Millions of the war victims are CITIZENS. And if taking citizens as the ones who are responsible for their government's fuck-up. Then 9/11 would be correct wouldn't it? It wouldn't, killing innocent people cannot be justified no matter what.
Remember, if you say the US shouldn't have dropped The Bomb, you are also saying, by implication, that you wish millions more Japanese and US people (civilian and military both) had been killed in more firebombing and the impending invasion. Does this sound like a humane or responsible alternative?
Well, let's end all the conflicts in the world in that exact manner, then. Let's drop atomic bombs at any territory in question. Which in your words is a humane and responsible alternative. Idiot.
no, the hiroshima/nagasaki bombs were necessary to demonstrate how powerful the bomb was. now it is unnecessary, since everyone knows what nukes can do. And don't tell me a bloodless demonstration would have done a thing -- the Japanese high command was evenly split after even the second bomb, requiring Hirohito to break the tie vote and sue for peace. And don't compare WWII to "all the [other] conflicts in the world" for gods sake.
@prisha91755 Wow! You actually buy into pseudo-rev. white's bullshit? Damn, can't you think for yourself? He's the worst racist to ever stand behing a pulpit with farrikhan a real close second! I guess it's true, you can't smell the coffee with your head up your ass!

@robojonie Well robot, he's now the president & we're still in Iraq (that's how it's spelled, really). So much for campaign promises, eh? Now who's the one caring about oil & selling guns? You really need to listen & remember the last words of the song "Don't Get Fooled Again" by the Who, and those words are; "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."
Apart from the breaking of the Warp 5 barrier, it was necessary to discover and control the atom in the form of nuclear power for the first contact with the Vulcans.
It's a funny thing when President Truman told to Stalin that the American have a new super weapon that can end the war Stalin just replied "Ok than,I hope you use it wisely".At that time Stalin already knew about the Atomic bomb because he has many spies in the Manhattan project. That show how good the KGB are ^_^
Once again- Stereo-types. I hate nuclear bombs/atomic and I AM AMERICAN! I am ashamed that they do stuff like that. And people hate america for it. My point is that every single american doesnt like war and bombs. Cause i dont.
The definition of Terrorism is to attack the population to manipulate the power controlling them, that is a government, into doing something. This was terrorism. All the USA had to do was use the bomb near, or in japan where no people lived like in the sea but where they could see the explosion and notify them in advance as a warning and demonstration what would happen if they did not surrender. The scientists pressured to make this bomb wanted this, but lesser minds with more power did not.
1. The reason for dropping the bombs was to shorten the war & prevent up to 1,000,000 allied casualties if we tried to make a beach-head on the japanese homeland.
2. Japan didn't surrender when the 1st fission bomb was dropped so what makes you think a demonstration of it's power in the sea or in an isolated area would've changed their minds?
3. What is it about the pacifist mindset that make them think everyone wants peace? If the pacifist doesn't mind being subjugated to obtain peace then tere is no peace, only willing slaves to chicken-shit to kill those that would deny us our freedom. Crawl back under your rock pacifist; you do not deserve the freedom given to you by those that gave their lives so you could enjoy & maybe fight for it!
I dont like nuclear bombs/atomic and I AM AMERICAN! I am ashamed that they do stuff like that. And people hate america for it. My point is that every single american doesnt like war and bombs. Cause i dont

The scientists pressured to make this bomb wanted this, but lesser minds with more power did not.

Not at all true. The proof is that Japan did not surrender after the first bomb and a second one was needed.

@raulitech Bullshit.

@Inquisitor53
