@LHDC2011 Your hair is gorgeous! I'm sooo jealous (in a good way lol!) Go Gurl! :) Just wondering: maybe I missed something, I understand the parting into four sections prior to washing. However, I am confused as to the actual washing process. Do you leave the hair braided when shampooing? (I saw the "wash hair with braids" video & the one where you showed how to section the hair, too.) Or, do you just part it then wash each section separately (a loose)? Thanks in advance for your response! :)
I will look into that further, as I wanted to get a jet black rinse for the summer. It should be fine though. The last time I had a rinse I used "jazzing" and it's when my hair was relaxed. I didn't see any negative affects then and that's the line i'd try now. Remember to do a patch test.
gl. I'll make a vid on it if and when I do the rinse.
I finally made the decision to go natural and regrow my hair out. How long did it take you to grow your hair so long and do you do regular trims? I usually can grow my hair really well when it's being taken care of so im excited to grow it back long and thick again!
How long does it take you to wash and blow dry your hair, please? My daughter and I are both natural and as a Cosmetologist, I have to predict the timeframe for each. Usually takes me about 4 hours for the both of us on an early, and I do mean early, Saturday morning? LOL Thanks for all that you provide; it really helps and I'm also a teacher who has referred your site to many of my African American students who need reaffirmation of their Natural Black Beauty! :)
I love all your hair videos and my question is, my hair is very damage and i have been trying not to cut my hair off like some of the lady doing their BIG CHOP. That would really kill me. So, I need to know what I should do to fix my inns, I trim them every 4-6 weeks.so I just need to know what to use We are following your every move because it seems to us , yoou know what your doing. Your hair is beautiful beautiful beautiful and my granddaughters are watching too. Keep up the good work. PJ
i love your hair, i also have very long hair but relaxed ,i want to go natural but without the big chop.how do i do that, also i noticed in some of your pictures of your hair it looked really silky almost like it is relaxed . what do you do to make it look like that, do you flat iron it? thank you.
Thank you for getting rid of the myth that brown and dark-skinned black women's hair cannot grow long unless they are mixed with some white or indian ancestry. Please let it grow long to your butt or knees. Continue to encourage and give black women tips about to grow their hair long. Must take care of the ends of the hair. Use conditioner and oil to seal in moisture for the ends/tips of our hair. Take vitamins, drink lots of water, eat healthy. and get lots of exercise!!!!
@DuhFuquinBade5t: Actually, the reason most people believe that is because many Black women don't have long hair. They use perms, they use drugstore and salon brands that are catered more toward a finer hair type, they use rubber bands, too many heat appliances, wash to often, don't use protective hairstyles, don't condition real hair and just use wigs, etc.
Long hair have you posted the beginning of your hair growth journey? I would love to be encouraged with the progress from start to finish with your hair journey.
i just recently went natural may of 2009 . i cut all of my hair off. it is to my ears now . but i currently made the ecision to lock . thinking it was the only way for my hair to get longer . what do u recomend i do to get my hair to grow . continue to get it twisted of were it out ?
@mjcupcake PROTECTIVE STYLES, you dont have to do loc if you dont want to. I personally twist that way I can have the effect of locs and the benefits of a pretty twist out of when ever I want to wear my hair loose, which wont be aften. You can do it!!!!
You have such lovely healthy hair, gorgeous! I was taking notes on your detangling vid, so thank you. Im from London so Im sort of getting use to the American lingo, love it. My question is I work out a lot how can I treat my hair after the gym, any tips? just transitioning to natural so nervous, thank you!
Oh my God, i just showed my mother your hair and she's like some where way back back you prolly have spanish ancestry.
that got me mad. how do you sound. WHY CANT BLACK PEOPLE HAVE LONG HAIR ? IS IT IMPOSSIBLE ? Now im determineddd . . and when it happens. im coming out like bam. . . IM STRAIGHT HAITIAN. ya diggss lol
@DuhFuqinBade5t Most of us african americans do have other groups in us. But that has nothing to do with having long hair, though. It is about diet and haircare. Also using products that are good for your hair. Leave the relaxer alone. I feel that's our bw main problem. Those messed up chemicals. You want straight hair? Just use a flat-iron. That's good enough. Us bw do just fine with the flat-iron. Then our hair goes back to natural. No shame in that.
@DuhFuqinBade5t , when you become haitian, I will be japanese.LOL. that piss me off when ppl do that. i dont care about my ancestry I care about my immediate family and me NOW AND DAMN IT I;M BLACK TOO.
4 sections is sooo right! I do that tooo! And especially for my daughter. It works wondering for detangling long think hair an getting it really clean...Unfortunately The water goes cold on me because it takes a little more time to do. lol
OMG my hair is realxed and i want my hair to be that length and i wanna go natural and im scared but watching ya vidz makes me wanna grow it naturally how can u tell what kinda hair u got
I know this isn't hair related but did your septum piercing hurt?? I've been wanting to get mine done but of course everyone's different...on a scale from 1-10 what was your pain?
People think that they have to go broke to be natural, when if you're delicate with your hair then you have no problems. Keep in mind that the "harsh chemicals" I use is on a 1x per month basis.
ur hair iz soOoOoO pretty! btw, im tryn 2 cut perms out of my hair routine since im tired of using those types of chemicals on my hair. iz it possible 2 wash my hair the way ive been doing, put leave-in conditioner in it, blowdry and sometimes flat iron? i really dont wanna use perms anymore...i need a new way 2 do my hair =)
It took 2 years for me to get SL hair that was all even. For layered SL hair, about 12 months -13 months, but it only reached SL because the bottom layer of my hair touched my shoulder, not all of the hair.
It's normal to be confused and scared. No one can guarantee you anything, but if your hair grows and you plan on taking care of your hair then I can't see a reason why it wouldn't grow to a length that you're happy with. I was scared too, so I understand where you're coming from

"Black" ethnicity however describes the culture she associates with.
