quanto alla versione orchestrale sono false tutte e due, c'è poco da fare;

prima credevo alla versione di Shostakovitch ma oggi mi sono convertito a Rimski perchè è più russa, a parte la correzione all'armonia mussorskiana che non ci sta per niente

1) Obraztsova'a lack of agility is evident, even in this aria which doesn't require any, due to the conductor's intepretation.

3) Her ugly voice doesn't really a young lover such as Marfa.

3) This is in Rimsky-Korsakov's version. It would have been better if it were Shostakoviche's, which is more faithful to Mussorgsky.

what is more amazing is the fact that this specialist can notice on the video shootinf whether she is using her chest or flat top. These are just standard accusation. I can not stand this stupid opera critics. Who decides which opera should be sung by whom. I went through all O mio bambion caros online and finally found out that mezzo soprano Obraztsova sings it better than other "sopranos" although it is written for a "soprano"- bullshit.

They don't ¨stink¨, but are more much more ¨heavy¨ than for example Verdi, or even verismo like Puccini.

¨Khovanshchina¨ would be a bad choice if you want to start liking the Russian opera. Try ¨Pique Dame¨ (Tchaikovsky) or ¨Prince Igor¨ (Borodin) first and than continue with more Tchaikovsky, leave Mussorgsky for later.
