There were melee weapons in game long before half life came out. And what sci-fi aspect? the design in this game is based on art deco which was popular back in 1920.
And the comparing the telepath function to the gravity gun is pretty dumb. It was probably put there because the physics engine allows them to create artificial gravity, (like ragdolls) not because they have to copy half life.
Both games are great games, but Bioshock is not ripping off half life.

It is VERY creepy, but it isn't exactly scary, you know? It's definitely playable even if you do scare kinda easy, but you'll have this creepy feeling the whole time you're playing it.
it's like the differnce between Doom 3 and F.E.A.R, doom3 gives off an occasional scare buts it's to monster a minute to really creep you out. F.E.A.R is more godamned creepy, the scares you get arn't little scares that you luagh abgout a second later, FEAR is actually really creepy. I wouldn't get nightmares from doom3
If you want a creepy game that'll make F.E.A.R look like childs game, go and buy Condemned: Criminal Origins, that game is the creepiest game i've ever played!
funny you mention this I have a great idea for a game. I love horror and Im typing up a game idea based on ghosts but your a reporter and your investigatin murders. Im trying to borrorw loads of ideas from movies that I know make me scared.
It depends what you're looking for in a game. If your playing a game for non stop action and scares, then you play F.E.A.R. If you're looking for a game with a creepy atmosphere, beautiful imagry, and top notch storytelling/creativity, then you go Bioshock.
I'm seriously thinking of getting this but I am kinda screamish. Would that become a problem during the game?
