The Maoris are benefiting from the sea's resources and have equal access to the foreshore like everyone else. They want exclusive access and ownership at the expense of all other New Zealanders. They're not indigenous and that their ancestors arrived on an earlier boat gives them no special priviliges.

having grandparents that are maori, doesnt mean they were full blooded. The last maori elder that was full blooded died in the 80s. My mates a maori, hes almost as white as me. Hes european with a bit of maori in him.

I am Maori because I have a Maori heritage which ties me to my numerous hapu by many generations of geneology - just to name a few points. Hone represents Maori in a way that most other Maori are afraid to - by not lying. People have to remember that this is an activist - hes done the same stuff on the same front, so to suddenly speak out agaisnt a) his own whanau b) fellow activists and c) the same kaupapa he supports - would not only be a lie, but suicide on his character and self belief.
