The "Best" Street Fighter is based off opinion and opinion only. Too me this was not the best, but it was good though. EX Alpha Plus & EX2 were good to me. It was different fighting style, I liked Cracker Jack, Hakuto, & Nanase. EX3 became the downfall with only slight changes to the game. By then, it was just bland fighting to me. Nothing exciting because the music was hard to hear as well which made matches boring. Would have liked to see this game get better over time...too bad
@1brianomeara It was very underrated, particularly in that the game play was vastly superior to all other 3D fighters for many years. In fact, in recent times, I'd only rank Tekken 5 as better in that regard. It suffered from the same problem as III, a lot of people didn't like the new cast.

It was a nice, fluid combo system too with great graphics for it's day that still have their charm now. I feel that it's so common to bash this reviewer that everyone jumps on the bandwagon, being little sheeple. Most of these comments range from idiotic to repulsive.

-Ridiculous special moves! (Zangief grabs you, jumps all the way to the moon, bounces of like a flipperball, and lands back again funny if your drunk though.)
-Graphics are WAY crappy for a Ps2 game.
-Characters are so glossy they look like dolls.
-Bonus level consisting of fat guy growing fatter and fatter for each time you kill him, no he does not get stronger.
This game was really, really epic back at that time, sadly Akira failed to make a even better sequel... Ex3? Less characters and pretty sloppy execution, at that point the EX series was dead...
This game had amazing potential, and some gameplay mechanics that would have made its potential sequels, even better than Street fighter IV, why? This game has a unique feel rather than being a 3d street fighter 2 with some few new characters.
Excellent character designs: I mean what Is that new fat guy compared to skullomania? Abel? Cooler than Garuda? A Mexican chief wrestler? Hokuto takes care of him =P.
This games music is unique yet strangely fitting to the characters (the characters not the stages, makes a big difference for me, who cares if the theme suits russia, if it does not suit Zangief?)
Dunno about you, but I prefer Hokuto and Blair over C.Viper...

Street Fighter 4 is great but street fighter (ex4) would be 5 times better, think about it. If they add more battles to the story, add survival, time attack, bonus games plus with the power of the ps3 & 360 the graphics would be pretty cool, better than street fighter 4. (since its originally 2d, they still have a 2d look)
They have more super moves and you can do super move cancels. Street Fighter ex plus alpha already had those modes its just street fighter ex 3 that wasnt that good.
Just adding more and more wouldn't make EX any better, don't get me wrong I like EX plus Alpha (still got my copy) but the one thing EX suffers is its game engine. SF4 just plays better, I doubt Arika could copy that.

This was a disaster of a game. This game along with the movie brought Street Fighter down due to overexposure and Capcom's crazed pursuit of making money off a game series they thought people would just buy since it had Ryu in it.
Instead, Capcom slaughtered there own creation much like Megaman but luckily, 10 years later, Street Fighter IV is going to be rebirth of fighting games, if the rebirth has not already happened.

I have already played SFIV several times in the arcade. This game is everything that made it great in SFII and brings back the game from the terrible flaws of SFIII and the quickly produced and crappy ass EX series.
The world agrees with me, SFIV is the best ever, and Obama wants change, and we got it.
Street Fighter IV is absolutely amazing, It's the classic street fighter with beautiful graphics, and they didn't fuck it up by completely taking it all the way to 3D. And the focus attack is an amazing addition, it's not broken in anyway and opens up to shit loads of combos. This game is as deep and technical it can get.
Yes, SFIV is very amazing. I am glad they brought the characters to gorgeous 3D and made their designs amazing. I am also glad they did not make it a 3D fighting field, like in Tekken and Soul Caliber. They kept it in a 2D field, which is so classic.

Julia made the crappy movie rather enjoyable...
This game was really, really epic back at that time, sadly Akira failed to make a even better sequel... Ex3? Less characters and pretty sloppy execution, at that point the EX series was dead...
This game had amazing potential, and some gameplay mechanics that would have made its potential sequels, even better than Street fighter IV, why? This game has a unique feel rather than being a 3d street fighter 2 with some few new characters.

Excellent character designs: I mean what Is that new fat guy compared to skullomania? Abel? Cooler than Garuda? A Mexican chief wrestler? Hokuto takes care of him =P.
This games music is unique yet strangely fitting to the characters (the characters not the stages, makes a big difference for me, who cares if the theme suits russia, if it does not suit Zangief?)
Dunno about you, but I prefer Hokuto and Blair over C.Viper...

-Ridiculous challenges to mask AI (in the first challenge you fight 3 guys, you can beat this with your ass trust me)
-The music is horrible, you get your characters theme in at the ending.
-No endings, just some crappy MKA style text thrown in..
-Sound effects are random, meaning Chun Li`s voice pitch can match Bison's, and Bison sound like Chun Li.
The fight against Bison? You get four helpers!

well to be pedantic, it was not actually made by capcom... some guy who worked on street fighter went off and started his own company.. maybe it was akira nishitama..
anyway, the guy who did it was opposed to the "turbo" idea and felt strongly street fighter shouldn't be so fast

Street Fighter 4 is great but street fighter (ex4) would be 5 times better, think about it. If they add more battles to the story, add survival, time attack, bonus games plus with the power of the ps3 & 360 the graphics would be pretty cool, better than street fighter 4. (since its originally 2d, they still have a 2d look)
They have more super moves and you can do super move cancels. Street Fighter ex plus alpha already had those modes its just street fighter ex 3 that wasnt that good.

This was a disaster of a game. This game along with the movie brought Street Fighter down due to overexposure and Capcom's crazed pursuit of making money off a game series they thought people would just buy since it had Ryu in it.
Instead, Capcom slaughtered there own creation much like Megaman but luckily, 10 years later, Street Fighter IV is going to be rebirth of fighting games, if the rebirth has not already happened.

Street Fighter IV is absolutely amazing, It's the classic street fighter with beautiful graphics, and they didn't fuck it up by completely taking it all the way to 3D. And the focus attack is an amazing addition, it's not broken in anyway and opens up to shit loads of combos. This game is as deep and technical it can get.

Yes, SFIV is very amazing. I am glad they brought the characters to gorgeous 3D and made their designs amazing. I am also glad they did not make it a 3D fighting field, like in Tekken and Soul Caliber. They kept it in a 2D field, which is so classic.
