But I disagree with you when you rate Mohanlal in the category of actors who can do 'any roles'. No. He is a unique actor, who has done many roles that most other actors of the kind could have never done to perfection. I would rate Lal just alongside Kamal. In the second category as you mentioned.

Please watch a 1985 movie starring Kamalhassan, Amitabh Bachan AND Rajnikanth called "Geraftaar" and check out the bench fight scene. Kamal is unbelievable!

yeah there are and had been a dozen of good actors in india but i think starting his carrier as a child artist in1960(5 years old),quitting school wen he was in 3rd grade,joining a drama troop,entering the film industry as a asistant choreographer again durin his teens,workin as a assistant director,doing small roles that he got,gradually establishing him as a young actor,then as one of the leading actors in south india with movies in all south indian languages...
