In Australia we have DOCS (Department of Community Services) there to look after the children. DOCS is in the news and on tv more for failing to protect our kids than actually saving them.Years ago I approached DOCS for help with my son who had alot of emotional issues. They couldnt/wouldnt help. He ended up living with a man who was a known drug addict covered in tattoes he was in his 50s my son was 14, with DOCS blessing they said he wasnt in any imediate danger, there was nothing I could do

He was actually 15, from a real young child he had been really difficuilt to manage he has emotional immaturity and major literacy problems hated going to school he used to run away and fight with his siblings. Around 15 I couldnt keep him at home. I approached Docs to help they set up meetings for Josh and I to resolve things at that stage he was living with this man(that he met out side the local pub) Docs had meetings with him said he wasnt in any imediate danger so he could remain with him

There was nothing legally I could do because he was nearly 16. When children turn 16 there is NOTHING you can do to get them back. This man was a drug addict that I found out later used to give him drugs and alcohol. For a brief time he did come home I tried to get him help with different organisations but he was either to old or not destitute enough as we werent abusing him. Hes now 20 living with his son and girlfriend. He still has his problems but is now working through them for his son.
