  • Greaat = ))))

Please check out my cover of this soundtrack = )) Thankss= ))

  • I imagine that the slow parts are Sherlock's life before John, and then it speeds up and changes to become more lively/interesting once he has John in his life....

  • 10 people cannot go to their mind palace. :P

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I love it!! You are a great pianist. Question: At the end when you go higher up on the piano....what are the notes? I've been trying to play this song and that last part has got me licked. :) You are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've written some sheet music to Sherlock The science of deduction, if people want! It's based on the playing in the video here:]

I haven't written down anything more than the start and the fast pace, so there is only on line though:3

Poke me if you want the sheet:3

  • I can play this :D it's such fun alternating between speeds ^^

  • I absolutely loved it slow, it really captured the melancholy side of Sherlock. It's really interesting how the pace of the music completelly changes the emotion, amazing!

  • Woah, just.. wow.. It's amazing! :s

  • It's very nice, but I don't seem to remember it from the show anywhere...

  • @Shangas ......Did you watch the show at all? I'm almost positive it was in every episode at least once.

  • @RandomliHyper I've seen the show several times. Maybe because it's at a slower pace, I don't recgonise it.

  • I love the way you sped up! I thought at first, 'Well, this is depressing'. But then I got reallly happy :D You're so talented ;)

  • Haha! Brilliant music.

  • Goodd!! Do more fastt!! It will better

  • nice!

  • Pretty good:)

  • awesome !!!! luvd it

  • Why do I live this so much?! xD

  • I'm gonna learn to play this even if it takes 3 years of my life

  • Pure. Awesomeness.

  • здравствуйте всем, очень нужны эти ноты или табы, для гитары.

  • Amazing~!

  • WOW!!! :)

  • Excellent interpretation, near identical!! But am i the onyl one who thinks this theme is a bit over used in the programmes?

  • @CatniponDiscworld I just learned this tune heh, I love that syncopation - first tune I ever learned was "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin, took me 2 hours to get the syncopation going and weeks to learn to play the tune with only about 3 errors heh. But since that I've always found syncopated playing really easy to pick up compared with other styles - boogie-woogie is damn hard though, I can't get used to it lol.

  • Far and away my favorite version amongst the piano ones done on here

  • When I hear this ONLY one thing is coming to my head - Sherlock's face with the most sly impression ever. Brows up and down, smirk widening... like "c'mon, guess this, don't be dumb..."

  • @CarolinePhoenixMe Thats is exsactly the same as what i think of, that and him energeticly running about tring to exsplain "the obvius" :D

  • I know you might not be able to yet, but try to make the faster part of the piece lighter and the trills quicker. Also, add some phrasing. Then it will be amazing :)

  • Nice, but way too much pedal :P

  • PRECIOSO

  • Oh my God! That is great! I really like *-*

  • please midi download

  • This is really fantastic. I love the gradual change in tempo.

  • fantastic! well done! you should record it in a studio :)

  • @CatniponDiscworld This is ripe for being put into a point-and-click style game, or even a Sherlock game on the "Heavy Rain" engine! And I loved the ragtimeish bit too, that's the *only* style I'm any good at (self-taught); you can bet I'm gonna learn this, and you're bookmarked! :D Thank you for sharing this with us Catnip!

  • wonderful :) great video.

  • 5 people cannot go to their mind palace...

    :/

  • @WolfgangTheHusky

    What unfortunate souls...

  • @WolfgangTheHusky Well, it's probably because she isn't a very good pianist, but I enjoyed this all the same.

  • @WolfgangTheHusky I actually listen to the soundtrack to enable me to enter my mind-palace :D (Mind-palace is the second best word(s) I've ever heard, second to "teledildonics"). If you google that word btw you will prolly get a page up about a custom PIC board called the "pen15" board lol Gave me a laugh anyhow....

  • Отлично!!!

    Отличный саундтрек!!!

    Отличный сериал!!!

  • Oh, this is amazing :')

I love how you played this theme and, obviously, I love Sherlock too ;D

  • As quirky and fun as Sherlock's theme is, I noticed how sad it can seem when it's slower, too.

  • @Kadiebeast

That's exactly what I found so fascinating about it! Change the pace, change the whole feel of the song. It's incredible!

  • OMG you played that by ear that is so so so so so cool!

  • This music's called "The Science of Deduction"

  • @BiologicalMetacrisis

Gee thank you! I haven't been able to find the name since I uploaded this XD

  • This is great fun to play, so well done for working it out for everyone. May I propose one slight change? The F minor chords in bars 11 and 12 should be F major. They then revert to F minor for bars 13 and 14. Hope this helps!

  • @BroonsHouse

    Sure, I'll try that!

Thank you very much for the help!

  • @catnipondiscworld do you have sheetmusic or just the notes named on a piece of paper ( like A B# C or something) and would you please be so kind to send them to me ??

    btw epicly played

  • @mathijssmith

The link is in the video description, right at the bottom.

Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it!

  • @CatniponDiscworld Thanks, but I am sad now I probably can't play this on harp. the crosses and stuff ( don't know the english words) are irritating. I have to use the hooks on my harp really fast to accomplish that, it porbably won't work but I am gonna try it anyway.

    and still beautifully played

  • Great news, I figured it out, with a lilttlev heplp, but enyway it can be played on harp

  • You played that by hearing only? I envy you so much for that ability!! Your piano does not seem to be the newest one, but it's got a very pleasant sound! You're kinda amazing! I play the piano as well, for about 12 years now, but sadly I can't play by ear.

  • @22Alanis22

It sounds beautiful, doesn't it? That thing is my biggest treasure and I will play it until it breaks from over-usage.

I found out that it was built sometime in the 1930s. I'm really proud I have a 70-something year old piano.

That's also why it sounds so good. The wood has had time to harden, which helps carry the sound. That's why most wooden instruments sound best when they're old. (provided you treat them well)

    Well, I can't read notes. ^^; That's why I play by ear.

  • You should play this on the harpsichord.

  • @ZNahum81208

Yeah I know! If I had one, I would!

  • You Piano has a brilliant sound for this song :)

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If only you hadn't spoken, it delays the awesomeness....

  • @g1gavet

Argh, if only I hadn't spoken cause it sounds so stupid... XD

Glad you thought it was awesome!

  • Love it to hear on real piano! Who wrote this music please? It sounds like Hans Zimmer his work for the motion picture in 2009

  • @josvermoesen

David Arnold and Michael Prince wrote the theme.

  • Whoa, nice one :) I take my hat off to anyone who can play piano that well :3

  • AWESOME rendition! Check out Sherlock fan Paul's new video series: Professor NotOne!

  • Tha's really good.. :)

Maybe you could give me the sheets?:D

  • i really really love the way you've played this, the way it slows down and speeds up gives it such an emotional and dramatic effect to the song

  • @missbilvy

Thanks, that really was what made the song interesting to me ^^

I heard it playing slow in the background of the scene where Sherlock and John first meet.

  • First I wanna say WOW you really have talent, i really love this video *o* and second THANK YOU SO MUCH for put the link to the page of Noteflight *w* thank you you really help me with this

  • it's amazing! :) but as a pianist myself, i'd use less pedal. anyways, great job, i love it :D

  • @tomanii1582

Less pedal? Ok, thanks for the advice. I do tend to put my foot down on the pedal a bit too much, yes... Need to get that under control. :)

Thanks and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • you need to let go of the pedals more to kill off that, whats the word?the clashing sound?apart from that a bit faster at the begging and your golden thanks for the music

  • @MrLoganloganlogan

That I'm so slow at the beginning is entirely on purpose. I listened to one of the scenes in the first episode and the music was that slow in the background.

But thanks on the advice with the pedal. I really need to get that under control.

    I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • WOW! i love the 'Sherlock' series and i cant wait for the new series! I love this piece of music and u played it very well! x

  • Amazing

  • rather sluggish, should be more upbeat for it to sound like the legit one; curved fingers, less left hand, and less pedal would also help.

  • @pitabread12,

Thanks for the advice. That's exactly the stuff I have problems with, I also get far to stiff while playing. I'll try to keep that in mind. Also: the sound quality isn't that good, I played it a lot quieter than it sounds here. Not sure why that happened.

  • I love Sherlock

  • 0:13 to 2:24 was my favourite part ;)

  • @TheRainstorm97

Yeah, I dunno what I thought with those voice-introductions... I cringe whenever I hear them XD

No more voice introductions on future videos, I promise!

But I'm glad you enjoyed the music! :)

  • The English...... was fine.

  • simple tune, but really conjures up images of the sherlock series, i wonder why i sounds victorian at the same time arabian to me haha

  • I'm learning how to play this now because of you, thank you for uploading this and linking the notes!~

  • @XOnegaiTaichouX

Hey, cool! Have fun playing it!

I'm happy it was an inspiration for you! :)

  • Oh so well done... Just beautiful ! You made it by ear O.o ? I wish I could play like you ! :D Well, thank you very much for doing this, it's really wonderful ! :)

  • Brava! Brava!!!

  • Brilliant!

  • oh wow, I actually thought I was watching sherlock for a moment there :)

    Great job!

  • Bravo!

  • @Tonyblack261 Thanks Tony!

    Glad you enjoyed it!

  • awesome love this track - it sounds so much better on piano than the original

  • Really picked up at the end, great!

  • Absolutely fantastic.

  • Thank you very much for this video and also tutorial. This one is a bit different from the tutorial. I guess, Is this the way you are playing randomly with your own style? Both are so great. I have also seen your drawings at your webpage and they are also amazing. I adore your talents and wish you success and joy at your performances.

  • That was lovely to listen to. Thank you :)

  • SHEET MUSIC! HALLELUJAH! I've been looking for it for ages :D. Thank you thank you thank you! Both to you and the person who transcribed it ^_^ <3

  • OMG I wish I could play like that! As soon as I sit down at a piano my fingers efuse to do what I want them to. :(

  • @wolvesruleohyay

    It's all just practice ;)

  • GREATE!

I want to play like you!

Can you send to me notes of left and right hands together?

Because I know how need to play left and right hands separately, but I can't put it together! I don't know when need for example this chord!

Please, help me as soon as you can!!

    P.S. Sorry my terrible english!

  • @MsSherlockHolms Aww thanks!

There's a link to the notes in the comments under the video. "starryfoot" was so lovely and transcribed them from my video.

And don't worry about your english, it's perfectly all right!

  • Absolutely brilliant.

  • Thank you so much for doing this! Could you post a video telling us how to play it? Love this music and love your accent. :L Thanks from London!

  • @LushLemons

There's a link to the tutorial in my comments under the video ;) And also music notes.

  • i always wonder who writes the music

they never seem to get much credit, but this song is just brilliant

    nicely played, too :)

  • u make me want to watch the series over and over again.

  • Why do u apologize...ur English + accent is cool. And great vid btw! Love Sherlock!!!

  • thanks girl ! <3

  • Brilliant! Love this! <3

  • So amazing

    PD: bit error in 2:09

  • @Yoteable Yeah I know... But this was the best I could do... I did a run without mistakes just before that, but my little sister barged in on me in the last second. Boy, I was angry.

Anyway, after that run i did a few more takes but it just went downhill. So that was the best it got :)

  • So amazing

    PD: bit error in 2:09

  • Superb

  • There is no need what so ever to exuse your english, i have always wanted a cool accent like yours.

  • this is a compliment btw lol :

when your playing the fast bit, your hands look like happy spiders dancing :D

    i like it!

ooh i've watched the tutorial and im at my piano right now practicing :D

  • NGGH <3

    *Humps piano*

    YES. JUST YES!

  • Wow, It`s fantastic!

    i am your fan :)

  • Man... I wish I could play by ear too... Brillient. You have a beautiful piano, thank you for uploading this!

  • @bookleaf72

Why thank you very much! :)

    Really glad you liked it!

It's an old concert piano we bought from a blues band. They sold it really cheaply (for a piano) because the pedals didn't work anymore. We had to fix it first, but now it sounds beautiful and it's brilliant to play on. :)

I love those old pianos with wood carvings on them; the new ones aren't half as beautiful.

  • listen to this every single day. Best version on the net!

  • What are the right hand notes for this????

  • @bamby011

Got a tutorial up, just go to my channel. ;)

    Good luck with the song!

  • Oh, british accents.

    I LOVE THEM.

  • @monieo555

    I think I speak more in a swiss-girl-trying-to-do-a-british-accent-but-not-quite-getting-it way :)

  • Hey! I absolutely LOVE this peice of music! I can't believe that the music isn't out yet and still people are figuring it out and sharing it on here. You rock! I'm trying to learn this peice and your tutorial was a HUGE help. Thank you! I did have one question, though: on here, at time stamp 2:07, you did an octive right? First G/C and then F/C? I just want to make sure I got that part right. Thanks again!

  • @ImdBookworm , yup, that's right. G/C, F/C.

Thank you so much for commenting! Glad you liked it and that my tutorial helped you :)

  • So cool!

1 person is a total psycopath.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go figure out how to play that...

  • stunning! Really great! You did an awesome job, cause the tempo is just right and it sounds so ... right! *___* Would be wonderful, if there would be an actual mp3 version of the song only

  • This absolutely is the best music in the whole series, especially the fast part near the end. I've been waiting for ages for someone to put it all up here, and the fact you were able to PLAY it on the piano without sheets is simply astonishing!

  • This is brilliant!

  • @musikstew, Thank you!

Tutorial's up now. I hope it helps you!

  • This was great! The song is one of my favorite parts of the show, and your cover was just as good as the original! Well Done!
