From the Eastern Europe the minimum wage here in Romania it's the highest ( aprox. 200 euros) , compared to Bulgaria ( aprox. 130) or Ukraine ( aprox 110 euros). Greece is not included in the equation. In the West the minimum wage is aprox ( 700 euros). So as you can see, it's a difference. But trust me , we don't live so bad after all. Others may object, but i'm telling you this as an economist and as a citizen of Romania. Cheers :)

Eastern European people think that communism is to blame for their countries not being as rich as Western countries. But this ignores the fact that Eastern Europe was never as rich as Western Europe for the last several hundred years. Actually communism closed the gap. I am Bulgarian, and i was living in England at the time but i was staying with my Uncle & Auntie over Christmas in Russe (on the Danube) at the time of Ceausescu's execution. I watched it live on Romanian TV. They showed the whole thing. I can totally understand the anger because my friends & family suffered under Communism. Fortunately the Bulgarian Revolution was very peaceful in comparison without loss of life. Romania's regime was one of the worst and they really suffered under Ceausescu.

From the Eastern Europe the minimum wage here in Romania it's the highest ( aprox. 200 euros) , compared to Bulgaria ( aprox. 130) or Ukraine ( aprox 110 euros). Greece is not included in the equation. In the West the minimum wage is aprox ( 700 euros). So as you can see, it's a difference. But trust me , we don't live so bad after all. Others may object, but i'm telling you this as an economist and as a citizen of Romania. Cheers :)

But what happen in the Middle East kind of remind people of the 1989 revolutions. Egypt and Tunisia can be somewhat compared to Poland and Czechoslovakia, and Libya is reminiscent of Romania.

Eastern European people think that communism is to blame for their countries not being as rich as Western countries. But this ignores the fact that Eastern Europe was never as rich as Western Europe for the last several hundred years. Actually communism closed the gap. Although Ceausescu was corrupt and needed to go, I think killing him and his wife was cruel and unnessecary.

I am Bulgarian, and i was living in England at the time but i was staying with my Uncle & Auntie over Christmas in Russe (on the Danube) at the time of Ceausescu's execution. I watched it live on Romanian TV. They showed the whole thing. I can totally understand the anger because my friends & family suffered under Communism. Fortunately the Bulgarian Revolution was very peaceful in comparison without loss of life. Romania's regime was one of the worst and they really suffered under Ceausescu.

Doar intr-un sistem capitalist si de economie libera poa' sa apara initiative noi eficiente si idei noi progresive. De asta comunismul a ramas in urma.

@sebidelpi din pacate asta este o utopie si nu-i real. oamenii nu sunt egali si niciodata nu vor fi. daca tu vrei sa hranesti un prost si lenes, care-i asa din nascare sau ca rezultat al educatiei sale, nu iti ramine decit sa o faci, nu vad rostul sa-i impui pe altii sa o faca. Iar comunismul care a degradat in ce a degradat i-a impus pe toti sa "doneze" impotriva vointei proprii. Comunismul daca si o sa fie aplicat in realitate, o sa fie aplicat involuntar si inconstient.

@hzcenick capitalismul.e.un.sistem.de.tip.jungla.care.promoveaza.individualismul.lacomia.conflictul..promoveaza.valorile.materiale.in.defavoarea.celor.umane..efectul.asupra.maselor.este.mentalitatea.consumista.materialista..valorile.principale.devin.lucruri.ca.marci.de.haine.masini.sau.genti.etc.deoarece.totul.se.relationeaza.la.capital.relatiile.interumane.sunt.conturate.pe.baza.acelorasi.valori.materiale.si.de.apartenenta.la.clasa.sociala..astea.sunt.pacatele.sis.cap.dincolo.de.inegalitate

@sebidelpi tot ce-i impus, va fi automat refuzat. Omenirea intr-una s-a zbatut si a reactionat, fiecare epoca e un raspuns diametral opus la epoca precedenta. Proiecte care ar crea utopia data deja exista, daca nu ma gresesc se numeste proiectul "venus", cauta pe google. Un oras care se auto-sustine si oamenii se folosesc de bunuri comune. Cu timpul, poate in perioada urmatoare, oamenii vor atinge asa nivel, n-avem incotro. Doar ca nu-mi inchipui un om care sa nu doreasca sa munceasca.

@sebidelpi cit tine de rousseau, revolutia franceza tot avea intentii bune, in sfirsit a degradat intr-o teroare de care omenirea nu a cunoscut pina atunci si a murit intr-un regim dictatorial. chiar daca ideea initiala era alta. :) Eu personal din start nu cred in principiu egalitatii oamenilor si trasatura aceasta numita de englezi "greed" e naturala pu fiecare om, cum e natural ca un lup sa-si vineze prada si sa se infrupte din ea. Noi nu suntem ierbivorii la urma urmei. :D
