I am somewhat disappointed watching this pilot. Not because it wasn't a good pilot but because it let me down as a fan of the Fearless series. Besides for it straying from the solid foundation the book made for it, it was a pretty good pilot and could have probably been a pretty good show.
GAH! Fear isn't a gene! It's the combined response of cognition and the endocrine's system effect on circulation, respiration, digestion, and muscle contraction! Furthermore, fear's physical manifestation is the result of the same factors that induce....y'know...other feelings (good ones) that make our our hearts pound, knees shake, and pupils dilate. Soooo....a physically fearless person would also be disabled sexually. I wonder if the writers thought of that.
@SheriRenee15 No it didn't and no it doesn't. The pilot was filmed and The WB had planned to air the show after Gilmore Girls but it was put on hold until mid season. Instead of going with their original plan of starting it during the mid season The WB put One Tree Hill on instead and just put Fearless on the shelf. They then canceled it before they could film more episodes or even show the pilot.
I love Ian but honestly considering all the WB past he's had with shows he's in being canceled I was surprised when he decided to do Vampire Diaries lol but soooo glad he did, he's an amazing actor. Wish WB/CW would give good shows more of a chance tho.

I just didn't like that she didn't have the blond hair and blue eyes. and I love RLC but her face is a little to round for Gaia, I think that Kristen Bell would have made a better Gaia. But even so this was awesome and they should have let it play out as is. I think they should try again

This show is like "The Inside" with Rachel Nichols with the main character having a trouble history but she is fun to watch and the rest of the cast are great.
The Inside at least aired as this show should have.

They should have had different character names and Nikki? That isn't even her character. But like I said, on its own, it would have made a good series, you just can't think of it as the books.

I think this was a great TV pilot, but I can understand why the powers that be would decided not to let this go to series. It really is a tough sell. Gaia is a hard character to relate to, since fear is such a driving force in most peoples' lives. And despite the fact that the concept has a whole series of books it's based on, seeing it in TV format makes it come off as a Buffy rip-off, and would have even moreso if they'd gone with the books' premise that sets Gaia in high school.
I also would have preferred the high school Gaia because it was about something much different. It wasn't just about her being fearless and in the FBI/CIA (shows we have TOO much of). It was really about a girl growing up and finding out who she was based on all events of her past and how she desperately wanted fear to be normal and to care about people without putting them in danger. The books storyline was more complicated and would have made a much more original storyline than this.
I think her acting is good, she just doesn't look it. Yeah, she doesn't show much emotion, but the point of Gaia was that she didn't. She kept herself closed off and always wanted to make it seem she didn't care. I think Cook did a great job of portraying that.
Its kind of a typical CW soundtrack though. I don't know why they used Bring Me to Life at the end here, it didn't fit the series or the way it was portrayed.
You know, I think if they had started with a tall, teen, fairy-tale blonde Gaia, from back in high school, they would have been able to capture more of the Fearless state that Gaia has that this show lacked.

this looks really good. on wikipedia it said that the show didn't air coz they found that no matter how hard they tryed, no1 could really express the fearless state that was like what Gaia in the books had. i thought it was well done though after watching this...so i dunno

Thanks for posting it, I just found out they made this pilot and such I'm such a Fearless nerd I had to check it out...it's good they didn't turn it into a series though...it did pretty much stand on its own since nothing really came from the book except Gaia's character and a bit of her past...it would've been sweet if it did come from the book though, and if they had started in high school. okay, after watching this and have never read/heard of the books i would say her character is more like a psychopath (like in the show dexter). I really liked this pilot and wish it would have become a series, even if it didn't follow the book, some minor tweaks and you could have had a cool and unique cop(FBI...) show
ive never even heard of the books before watching this, so from an outside opinion, i think it could work, but a little more adventurous storyline would be needed because theres only so far you can go with a person being Fearless
I think this show would've done a lot better as a stand-alone show instead of being based off of the book. Then again, the whole copy-right thing would've come into play and the show never would've happened anyways...
but still, I think what ticks ppl off the most is the fact that there were so many changes. If the show had no connection to the book, then it would be much better received.
i was also glad to see bianca lawson as someone on the WB that wasn't kendra the vampire slayer. eric balfour has always has always had small roles in shows that doens't last very long so i'm glad to see he finally gets a main role. overall the show got my atention but hey it had mine when the show was introduced on the WB orginally (but never aired). too bad the WB didn't see what a gem they had before they cancelled it. this just show that wb aka cw has serious problems with doing this.
I am so glad to see fearless posted on here. i'm a huge fan of ian somerhalder and i was so upset that i never got to see any eps of the show. rachael leigh cook did seem to have no emotions expect when she was with ian's character. like when he was on the floor about to cry it seemed that she had empthy.
i agree that ali larter would've been a good gaia...she has the look, but i don't know if she's as pretty as gaia is supposed to be. but overall, they should have stayed true to the book, and started at the very begining, when she was in high school...because THAT storyline would've kicked ass all on its own.
They can't do it exactly like the book because of the copy-right law. That's why so many movies and tv shows that are based off books always are a little different.
You clearly don't know anything about copyright law. If persimmon was given by the rights owner, which it was, they COULD have followed the story EXACTLY if the chose. However that never works, the structure of movies and television are different from writing in books/graphic novels and if you simply take events and dialog word for word every thing just ends up being a string of cheesy one liners. (see Sin City and you will know what i'm talking about)
Her voice was kinda annoying, but overall I enjoyed it. I liked the chick, it just wasn't Gaia. Gaia is blonde, and that kinda bothered me. Maybe Ali Larter or Milla Jovovich in RE, but someone blonde. I liked it though, I thought it was entertaining and if aired, I probably would have watched.
Jerry B, awesome director. unfortunately, i don't think he kept up too well on the series, or did siginifant reading into the character. Critics were right to say she came off just emotionless, not fearless. Anger's an emotion, and when they were holding her head under water she should have been PISSED. I don't know... has a lot of potential, definitely. Don't assume it's going now

Well it is only one episode. How can you just not say she has no emotion after one episode. She did show emotion, just not to much of it. In most of the scences she did a person would show fear. She has no fear, so it made her seem emotionless. And has for the voice, you must not like the actress very much because that's how she pretty much talks in all her movies (except when she did the voice of Tifa from FF7:Advent Children)
It was good, Although It seemed like every scene was about her showing how fearless she was, and how much the needed to talk about it...I get thats the point of the show but it still seemed somewhat forced...other then that it would of been a great show...too bad it wont air...
Entertaining show, but the one thing that bothered me is that they acted like not having fear was like this awful freak thing. Who the hell would care? I think that's why the show didn't make it, no one ourside the show cared. Her 'problem' just doesn't seem like a problem...

yeah, which is what made the show interesting. I liked that she was fearless. My point was that pretty much everyone would think that's cool, so its not much to be self consious about.

Thanks for posting it, I just found out they made this pilot and such I'm such a Fearless nerd I had to check it out...it's good they didn't turn it into a series though...it did pretty much stand on its own since nothing really came from the book except Gaia's character and a bit of her past...it would've been sweet if it did come from the book though, and if they had started in high school. I wonder if Francine Pascal had anything to do with the way the show's storyline?

okay, after watching this and have never read/heard of the books i would say her character is more like a psychopath (like in the show dexter). I really liked this pilot and wish it would have become a series, even if it didn't follow the book, some minor tweaks and you could have had a cool and unique cop(FBI...) show

ive never even heard of the books before watching this, so from an outside opinion, i think it could work, but a little more adventurous storyline would be needed because theres only so far you can go with a person being Fearless

I think this show would've done a lot better as a stand-alone show instead of being based off of the book. Then again, the whole copy-right thing would've come into play and the show never would've happened anyways...
but still, I think what ticks ppl off the most is the fact that there were so many changes. If the show had no connection to the book, then it would be much better received.

i was also glad to see bianca lawson as someone on the WB that wasn't kendra the vampire slayer. eric balfour has always has always had small roles in shows that doens't last very long so i'm glad to see he finally gets a main role. overall the show got my atention but hey it had mine when the show was introduced on the WB orginally (but never aired). too bad the WB didn't see what a gem they had before they cancelled it. this just show that wb aka cw has serious problems with doing this.

I am so glad to see fearless posted on here. i'm a huge fan of ian somerhalder and i was so upset that i never got to see any eps of the show. rachael leigh cook did seem to have no emotions expect when she was with ian's character. like when he was on the floor about to cry it seemed that she had empthy.

i agree that ali larter would've been a good gaia...she has the look, but i don't know if she's as pretty as gaia is supposed to be. but overall, they should have stayed true to the book, and started at the very begining, when she was in high school...because THAT storyline would've kicked ass all on its own.

They can't do it exactly like the book because of the copy-right law. That's why so many movies and tv shows that are based off books always are a little different.

You clearly don't know anything about copyright law. If persimmon was given by the rights owner, which it was, they COULD have followed the story EXACTLY if the chose. However that never works, the structure of movies and television are different from writing in books/graphic novels and if you simply take events and dialog word for word every thing just ends up being a string of cheesy one liners. (see Sin City and you will know what i'm talking about)

Her voice was kinda annoying, but overall I enjoyed it. I liked the chick, it just wasn't Gaia. Gaia is blonde, and that kinda bothered me. Maybe Ali Larter or Milla Jovovich in RE, but someone blonde. I liked it though, I thought it was entertaining and if aired, I probably would have watched.

Jerry B, awesome director. unfortunately, i don't think he kept up too well on the series, or did siginifant reading into the character. Critics were right to say she came off just emotionless, not fearless. Anger's an emotion, and when they were holding her head under water she should have been PISSED. I don't know... has a lot of potential, definitely. Don't assume it's going now

Agh her voice is sooo annoying!!! I mean i know she has no fear, but having no fear doesn't mean you have no emotion...shes just FLAT. Im glad the show wasn't made its a piece of utter shite.

Well it is only one episode. How can you just not say she has no emotion after one episode. She did show emotion, just not to much of it. In most of the scences she did a person would show fear. She has no fear, so it made her seem emotionless. And has for the voice, you must not like the actress very much because that's how she pretty much talks in all her movies (except when she did the voice of Tifa from FF7:Advent Children)

It was good, Although It seemed like every scene was about her showing how fearless she was, and how much the needed to talk about it...I get thats the point of the show but it still seemed somewhat forced...other then that it would of been a great show...too bad it wont air...

Entertaining show, but the one thing that bothered me is that they acted like not having fear was like this awful freak thing. Who the hell would care? I think that's why the show didn't make it, no one ourside the show cared. Her 'problem' just doesn't seem like a problem...
Thanks for posting the pilot though, it was fun on an otherwise boring night.

I agree not having the fear gene is no big deal but I thing that maybe the suggestion was that without it she tended on being reckless at times.

yeah, which is what made the show interesting. I liked that she was fearless. My point was that pretty much everyone would think that's cool, so its not much to be self consious about.
