Rosie messed up Taboo because she did not understand the sensibility that produced it - no surprise. She is so very American, and grew up on Staten Island, or some other godforsaken place - and tried to use the musical to push an aggressive agenda. I usually like O'Donnell, but the whole Taboo debacle really turned me off her for a while.
