Id like to know 2 things: 1. Was he using a wifi spot compared to the competitors as lag would have been created by the network provider and given any phone an advantage using wifi 2. I would like to see an iPhone, android or whatever user with knowledge of all the shortcuts like the windows rep does as some competitors clearly know the true functionally of their phone With these 2 factors then I'd like to see the real challenge
@KehoeDeclan and i will bet $100 you cant use a remote control, or read a bus timetable, or explain how android is just, like, you know, derivation and stuff (BTW do you mean derivative? and can you spell and/or define it?). enjoy your iphone. i certainly enjoy knowing morons like you own one.
Microsoft way to sell their platform with ridiculous tests and give-aways is really pathetic.. if they really had a good platform people would buy it without all this fuss.. like Android did..
@eyfhsdksd WPs aren't expensive, most match Androids in price...or Android devices worth getting, not the old crap ones that will never get a future update on Android, having said that if I bought a phone tomorrow running Android other than the Galaxy Nexus theres a chance it'd never see Ice Cream Sandwich. Besides Windows Phone has been out for "months", Androids been out for "years", saying no one buys them is like saying no one buys TVs from a new manufacture just cause Sony has sold more b4.
@rkukentertainment The fact that wp7 doesn't sell despite millions investments is something most analysts agree and Microsoft partially disclosed for the first quarters.
All android phones get the latest update except maybe $90 phones but at least you can wine on some forum and usually you get an update from some programmer, on the contrary Microsoft has rigid rules for making old phones outdated just like Apple does and no way you can write Microsoft!
@pranka501 you realize that's an advert and it means not much? Microsoft has pre-loaded many applications as tiles and he simply clicks them, moreover wp7 comes with facebook and twitter already integrated (something people like me wouldn't like much).
@eyfhsdksd I have a windows phone myself, a 1st gen one, and is quicker than many recent phones (Androids and iPhones), and it actually doesnt. Most people do use social networks, so it benefits them, if you dont want it, you dont need to use it, the OS never forces it on you. The Me/People tiles work fine even if you only text/call/email people.
And I've used android, the widgets rarely perform as well as tiles do on wp7, and it slows the phone down a lot if you use a lot of widgets
@pranka501 I'd like to see a formal proof of how tiles perform faster than widgets.. or at least some scientific test.. anyway having facebook and twitter meshed with text messages might not be appreciated by corporate businessman or people who want to use.. say myspace.. only reason they are there is that Microsoft has a big partecipation in Facebook stock..
@eyfhsdksd if you want to test it, go ahead. Im just saying, after using both for a long time, tiles function much better. and there arent many ppl who use myspace nowadays. even so, theres probably an app for it, just as in android, which doesnt offer deep myspace integration into the OS.
and regardless of who owns what stock, (i dont even think thats the reason) it is something valued by a lot of wp7 users, which makes it a greater OS as a whole
How stupid. As if I would need to switch off my iPhone and than on again to know I have a good phone. This is only useful if you have a phone that freezes all the time - like a windows phone...
@pickassoreborn Than you are one of the many that aren't happy with their iPhone. See customer reports here and there... But again, boot up speed is so 80's. I can't even say when I switch off my phone at all. There are other - more important - figures to look at... Keep your 100 Dollars, we're on Euro anyway...
@xxYetterxx Of course not. That's why you usually don't need to reboot. That's why a discussion about boot up times is useless. That's why this entire discussion and 100 bugs for a quick booting phone are just one thing: dumb Microsoft marketing.
@eyfhsdksd I recommend reading your post over and seeing if you can make sense of it. Then send me another message that has some clarity and I would be more than happy to continue this debate. Furthermore searching for android fail, or iPhone fail will provide countless examples of problems with software and hardware (mind you there are 10x the amount of android and iOS devices out there so its not all that surprising)
Wow, this is really gr8. I was thinking of getting wp when mango came cause it was a big upgrade. But still I will stay with android for now (got really old one, will get some 4.0). When windows phone 8 comes I'm sure it will be ownage and I may even but it, just hope that I can find a good hardware phone to then :)
I'm sure a homescreen with well-placed icons and widgets will be just as intuitive as the Metro UI for the user. Android's intents feature can handle media sharing across all social networks.
Well, Windows Phone 7.5 will beat every Android phone, iPhone or any other smartphone. They are blazingly fast. And you get that speed without rooting and doing other shitty things to your phone. So, Android fans, how long will you be overclocking and rooting your phones, which dies in several hours, to prove that your phones are as fast as WP7.5? I think, that your phone will NEVER be as fast as WP7.5 ones
@BKsMassive ...See, that's what you have to do to get a Android devices to compete. Whats it like out of the box? That's why WP is the best OS because you don't have to make yourself feel good about ''modifying'' your phone. It just works! You android guys justify your OS not being good out of the box by saying that it is more ''Customizable'' and open. What you guys really mean is that it has to be customized and "hacked'' to function properly. Sorry if I come off as a hater, But?
@rodneyej1 There's a bit more to customization than making it "function properly." A phone could function perfectly out of the box, but it's still not tailored to me. Android offers quite a bit of customization without "hacking." I'll admit that customizations shouldn't be used to justify a poor out-of-the-box experience, but I don't think most Android phones are bad out of the box. I'm considering a Windows Phone as my next phone, but I would still miss the customization of Android.
Hah! Jokes on you Microsoft! I dont care if it takes 3 seconds to open a text message vs 2 seconds on your phone. Ill bet $100 that Android and iPhone have way more apps and I can root my Android and do what ever I want with it. On a side note I kinda like the Windows phone interfae.
it's not only the CPU that determines how fast you can do things with your phone... its how the UI was designed! Windows Phone has brilliant UI which makes you do things much faster than icon-based smartphones.

well why not - i am daily opening my crypted folder, then with file commander openning file i need to work with, and after work i am closing it..... how fast i can do this on windows phone7 ;))
@iAnimationProduction How can you compare a 2 year old phone from 2010 with a recent phone? How about comparing the Galaxy S 2 with the current HTC Titan 2?
@Jakez98 even with the new wp7 phones with the faster 1.4 ghz single core processor and mango OS it still wouldn't beat my galaxy s2 or any other older android phones for that matter so long as you load a custom rom/kernal, which isn't possible on a wp7 device due to it being a closed source.
@pranka501 newest androids such as? talk about galaxy s2 only please because the only worthy phone of android is the galaxy s2 which is why i came over the android from iOS. Also, it's no big deal that your wp7 can beat android devices with simple task. Wait till you play some high end games like infinity blade your device starts to cripple because of low end specs. Low specs is the failure of wp7.
@iAnimationProduction as in the galaxy nexus, which has the OS as it was intended by google. and see, wp7 doesnt have 'high end specs' because it doesnt need it, it can play several good-looking games with what it has, and as for 'high end' ones, i wouldnt know until EA releases several more games for it.
honestly, u should give it a try, ive used several androids and iOS devices, and wp7 is the best by far.
@Jakez98 The challenge didnt state that android devices needed to be in stock ROM for the challenge to be valid. Besides, the selling point of android is that you can hack it and customize it to your liking. Anyway, even with stock ROM on my galaxy s2 it boots up in 16 secs. Also my galaxy s2 last for 3 days on a single charge and has totally no lag (with stock ROM) at all so tell me which part of it is not optimised? Maybe you're talking about cheap low end android devices are free.
@iAnimationProduction I admit it. The only reason your Galaxy S 2 can outperform these Windows Phones is mostly because a) You have access to a much higher specs, and b) You installed a custom ROM.
At least I know that Windows Phones doesn't have to do all these things to achieve similar performance as your Galaxy S 2. It just works beautifully out of the box.
And to be honest, I really doubt that any phones will be able to compete with Windows Phones once the dual cores starts to roll out.
@bduran727 The Inspire 4G is officially announced in last year's CES, which was held in January.
So strictly speaking, it's a 2011 phone. And I'm also pretty sure that you have rooted your phone, because the latest HTC Sensation XE don't even boot up this fast.
@bduran727 1) Just because the Inspire 4G is a re-branded Desire HD, it doesn't mean that the Inspire 4G is released in 2010.
For example, the HD2 is released in 2009, and since the HD7 is also basically a re-branded HD2, so does that mean that the HD7 is released in 2009 too?
And come to think of it, for a phone that is running on a 2009 hardware, you gotta admit that it is really fast considering the boot time and browser performance.
@Jakez98 Have you seen the video where it gets beaten by an iPhone 4S?
Good on them for stepping up though, I like the UI a lot and Microsoft have some great ideas; but I personally prefer the ecosystem and design of Apple products.
@KehoeDeclan Yeah, I saw that. I wasn't surprised though, given that iOS also includes a decent Twitter integration as well.
And if the iPhone is once the golden standard for smartphones, then Microsoft has certainly caught up with the iPhone now! (And that includes Androids too!)
@Jakez98 Obviously I'm slightly biased, but trying to be fair; Windows Phone is most definitely the closest thing to a true competitor for iOS in my opinion. It's funny, although I'm an Apple fan I want Windows to do well because competition based on innovation is great (and not derivation like Android is doing...) and exciting for the industry.
I hate when people just go to utter fanboyism you know?!
When Apple first introduced iOS, I was like, wow, that's certainly something worth looking at. But when it comes to Android, it just feels like a cheap copy of the iOS. (And a laggy and buggy one too!)
How fast can your Windows phone connect to Cisco VPN, or Connect to Citrix Receiver.. I bet my 2 year old Android will connect to Cisco or Citrix before Windows can.

@Jakez98 my HTC Inspire 4G boots up in 8 seconds, beat that!
bduran727 1 month ago
@bduran727 Is that a 2 year old phone from 2010? Guess not!
Jakez98 1 month ago
@Jakez98 Actually, The Inspire is a Desire HD, which was released in September of 2010. Windows Phone 7 did not come out till November 2010.
Still beaten, get your facts straight before you shoot your mouth.
bduran727 1 month ago
@bduran727 The Inspire 4G is officially announced in last year's CES, which was held in January.
So strictly speaking, it's a 2011 phone. And I'm also pretty sure that you have rooted your phone, because the latest HTC Sensation XE don't even boot up this fast.
Jakez98 1 month ago
@Jakez98 It's a re-branded Desire HD, so I guess you could say it was released in 2011.
But I'm not rooted, completely stock. I could make a video if you want.
bduran727 1 month ago

KehoeDeclan 1 month ago
@KehoeDeclan Yeah, I saw that. I wasn't surprised though, given that iOS also includes a decent Twitter integration as well.
And if the iPhone is once the golden standard for smartphones, then Microsoft has certainly caught up with the iPhone now! (And that includes Androids too!)
Jakez98 1 month ago
@Jakez98 Obviously I'm slightly biased, but trying to be fair; Windows Phone is most definitely the closest thing to a true competitor for iOS in my opinion. It's funny, although I'm an Apple fan I want Windows to do well because competition based on innovation is great (and not derivation like Android is doing...) and exciting for the industry.
I hate when people just go to utter fanboyism you know?!
KehoeDeclan 1 month ago 18
@KehoeDeclan Totally know what you mean!
When Apple first introduced iOS, I was like, wow, that's certainly something worth looking at. But when it comes to Android, it just feels like a cheap copy of the iOS. (And a laggy and buggy one too!)
Jakez98 1 month ago
@Jakez98 Agreed, which is why I hope WP7 can do some good for the marketplace.

Note, he said "At things you do every day".
So, this isn't running a test on just how fast it can display a 3D image or what the CPU score is.
My guess is it will be something like "Update facebook status, send a tweet, send an email, etc"
