OMG!!! What memories! I think I first saw Lingo in '86, I was going to school @ NAU. I was captivated! Went many times to their shows in Jerome, Flagstaff and then down the valley in Tempe.... I had the major hots for Tim LOL. I still have 3 casettes of their early music, much played and much loved. Ah, what great people!
In about 1985, I saw a Major Lingo poster with that dancing scribbled dude. Thought it looked cool and checked it out. Loved it then... love it now. Try to take my daughter (recently 18) to any all-ages shows. She's hoping Lingo will still be around when she's 21. Me too!
Lingo started when I was just a babe, but they rocked my world all through high school in the late '90's and still do! Just saw them on Saturday night at the Spirit Room in Jerome and they still draw one hell of a crowd and play one HELL of a show!!!
Love to you guys!!!

PS-the answer to the trivia question in the comment below is Primus!!!!!
i was at the show on saturday as well- great stuff- i was doingthe 'bar dance foot tap' with my wife... whilst our friends that we set up on a date danced the entire night away. it was amazing as usual- actually i just got back from john z's lingo trio show at the college. great as well- nice to see a fellow jeromite on the tube- my dad- i have several videos of my dad (ed dowling) i put on here- just look at my page... blues and grass but still cool
wow! this was my life- i was born and raised in jerome- still live within sight of it as well- i have known Lingo since before they were lingo, a previous incarnation was 'ambush' i think- truly a great group- and wonderful music-
and for some trivia...the drummer in this clip (tim alexander i think) went on to play with who? 8^)
I just LOVE these guys!! Danced like a Whirlen Dervish straight through the 80's and 90's - gotta make the trip to AZ to pay homage to the best ska in the region!
holy crap, were we all this young once?? Even then, Lingo was way ahead of their time musically. (not to mention how Johnny Z. is ROCKIN' that mullet!!) Oh, the memories...
I was just reminded about ML two weeks ago my an old Mingus Union High friend...class of 88 here!
