the house I grew up in had an old cast iron furnace..
It was a steam system..
it had two doors on the front that looked like doors on an old steam locomotive train. The top one had a glass viewing port with a metal cover (so you didn't see the flame if you didn't want to..) The doors were for basically letting you have access to the inside for cleaning.. The burner started a lot slower than your system and wound up. it started low and got higher and louder whirrrrrrrrr before lighting.
One of two possibilities. First your motor has a dead spot (starter contacts within the motor not making contact.) You will have to change the motor to cure this.
Second, the orange wire on your relay which powers both your transformer and motor is not being energized when the relay pulls in on a call for heat. You will have to change the realy if this is the problem.
Also a good idea to check your voltage to the black wire of your relay. It must be at least 110-120 volts.
Sticking centrifugal switch in the motor possibly?? Next time give the motor a light rap with a hammer and try to start it again.. If it starts most likely thats the problem
Either your fuel pump is locked up, or a start winding on the motor is bad..

other possablity is a bad primary control i own this exact model furance CMF80PO
grate unit but the relay inside the primary control sticks at times i replaced it no more problems.

Sounds like the motor is fried..
Check it and replace if it is the problem..
